⚠️ WARNING: Unsafe Vehicle, Misrepresentation & Consumer Rights Violations
I do not typically leave reviews of this nature, but after my experience with EASYCARS (LON) LTD (Easy Cars / Easy Cartz, 1a Sandcliff Road, Erith, Kent, Company No. 14508210, also linked to 63 Norwood Avenue, Romford RM7 0QL), I feel it is necessary to warn other consumers.
Purchase & Condition
I purchased vehicle AK15 KFY (white Ford Focus Titanium) in good faith, after being told it was in “great condition” with no issues. Within days, problems became apparent, including tyre pressure issues which I was told to simply “top up with air.”
An independent inspection later confirmed all four tyres had exposed cording, meaning they were unsafe and at immediate risk of blowout. This is a serious safety issue, not a minor defect.
Independent Inspection Findings (Halfords Autocentre)
Multiple inspections confirmed significant faults, including:
All four tyres with exposed cording (unsafe, immediate replacement required)
Oil leak from engine area
Coolant leak below manufacturer level
Excessive underseal potentially concealing issues
Brake vacuum concerns (serious enough that inspection was halted and I was advised to reject the vehicle)
Battery condition affecting stop/start system
Service warning light despite recent claimed servicing
MOT history showing no advisories, inconsistent with condition found
Repair Attempt
The vehicle was returned after 6 days with only the air conditioning repaired. All major faults remained. A new brake-related issue was also present on return, along with a brake bulb warning. No proper paperwork, diagnostic report, or repair record was provided despite repeated requests.
The vehicle also came back in worse condition internally, with added mileage and loose/interim interior trim.
Refund Dispute
I formally rejected the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 within 30 days. The dealer responded stating a full refund was not applicable and attempted to apply deductions, “goodwill” conditions, and re-inspection requirements.
A full refund in these circumstances is a statutory right, not discretionary. Despite this, payment has still not been made.
They also repeatedly requested proof of unroadworthiness while providing none of their own inspection or repair evidence.
Tyres
When I raised tyre costs (£360+), the dealer claimed the tyres were legal and suggested fitting part-worn tyres before return. This was despite confirmed exposed cording, which is a structural failure and makes the vehicle unsafe and illegal to drive.
Delays & Costs
There were repeated delays, lack of response, and missed opportunities to return the vehicle promptly, resulting in continued insurance, tax, and inconvenience.
Total financial impact (approx. £5,470+):
£4,600 vehicle cost
£360 tyres
£52 inspection
Insurance amendments, setup, and cancellation fees (~£237)
Road tax, fuel, transport, and other costs
Time off work and associated losses
Additional Issues
I also experienced lack of communication, missed arrangements for vehicle return, and inconsistent handling of the process throughout.
Summary
I was sold a vehicle described as being in excellent condition which was, in reality, unsafe and significantly defective. I gave the dealer opportunity to repair it, which was not properly done. I then exercised my legal right to reject the vehicle, but a full refund has still not been issued.
This review is based on documented evidence, inspections, invoices, and correspondence. I would strongly advise extreme caution before purchasing from this dealer.
