First-timer experience at College of Wizardy 15

Colllege of Wizardy 15 (also lovingly known as CoW 15 in the community) was my very first larp at which I was taking part as a Playable Character/ PC.
For anyone interested in trying out larp, or is generally a Harry Potter fan(atic), I would heavily recommend joining one of the CoW events, which run multiple times during the year.
Here are (my personal) reasons why:
1. It is a magical and unique experience which will give you the opportunity to visit a fantastic world for a weekend and try out things you would normally not do in real life. It is a chance to let lose and dive into another world. While it is not exactly Harry Potter, it is heavily inspired by it and additionally leaves room for lots and lots of creativty and personal ideas.
2. The community is unlike any other. The support and enthusiasm every single individual shares in the CoW community is truly unique, and boosts personal creativity. While one weekend does not sound like a lot to spend time with strangers to make them your friends- it somewhat is. The game brings people closer together through interesting stories and safe organisation.
3. It is a perfect way to join the larp scene. Larp itself is a broad term, but blockbuster larps such as CoW that run for a few days at once, offer environment and scenery unlike any other that I have heard of or looked at so far, and combined with the help of both organisers and fellow players makes it easy to get into the game and have a grand time.

CoW: Winter Banquet

I didn't know what to expect when I was given the opportunity to participate in this larp. All I knew is that I would be playing the part of a student in a magical setting. I didn't pre-game at all - didn't plan scenes or create relationships with other players. I still had a great time.

College of Wizardry is most certainly newcomer-friendly. Being a reserved sort of person, I initially felt this statement wouldn't apply to me. I was completely mistaken. The existing player base is welcoming and respectful. I was involved in play even if I was entirely unprepared. No one ever gave me a hard time for not knowing how to react to a scene, for forgetting important lore details or someone's name, or for shying away from play when I needed some time off. Everyone knows that the important thing is to have fun, and will do everything in their power to make it so for everyone else as well. I can honestly say I found home away from home.

The setting was perfect. Christmas and magic were in the air. The Winter Banquet was not limited to simply taking place in a beautiful castle (which is, by itself, incredible) but the little details were taken care of to make sure the atmosphere was as immersive as possible. The common rooms, the alchemy lab, the crypt - everything looked and felt the part.

Off-game and behind the scenes, the team was highly responsive, down to personally helping players with travel arrangements prior to the game. During the game, we had an issue with our room, and they made sure we got that fixed ASAP. Anything you might have forgotten, they have it. Any scene you need external help to act out, they'll know what to do. Everything was accounted for and handled professionally. I was in awe at how smoothly everything ran.

I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking to step out of their shoes for a bit, and into the most amazing sort of world. It was an emotional, intense, life-changing experience and I can honestly say I will be doing this again (fingers crossed for CoW 13!)

College of Wizardry 15

This has been my first LARP experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff at Dziobak were very helpful and always up to answer any questions, be it weeks before or during the game. I also found it very helpful to join the Facebook Group before the LARP and talk to other players and get their advice and insights.
The event itself has been surprising in many ways, all of them on the positive side. :) It's been a very emotional, fun adventure. And I don't regret for a moment that I could be a part of that!

College of wizardry Winter Banquet

I went to this larp without knowing what exactly would await me. I've been to the CoW14 and the nibelungen run before. But the winter banquet was no normal CoW but a special one.
I hoped for some magical Christmas time.
And what I got is so much more.
I experienced a magical romantic Christmas fairytale with so much love, drama and friendship in-game. A dream I had for many years came true!
My character went through many different emotions and with her, I did too. I had that fairytale. Not only my character.
And that is only possible with so many amazing people being there. And with a really good team of organizers.
And that it what dziobak is.

College of Wizardry 14

College of Wizardry was my first ever experience LARPing, and I could never have imagined how incredible the experience would be. We booked our tickets, completely misunderstanding what we were getting into (we thought it was kind of like going to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, except in a castle in Poland). Instead, we got a casting sheet and an overview of the practical elements (allergies, room preferences, etc.). My sister and I kind of looked at each other nervously with a, "well, I guess we ought to see what this is all about," and what we found is something truly incredible. LARPing is what nerds do in a park, right? Not even close. The events put forth by the Dziobaks are so immersive and detailed, it's like you're in a whole other world, living someone else's life. And the best part is, you've created this person, so you know them as well as you know yourself.

I knew no one going into this event, and I came out with 130 friends from all across the globe. I spent three days living another life, improvising my way through classes and parties and relationships that I'd never have experienced if it weren't for CoW. I'm sure this sounds very fantastical and theatrical, but you'll see for yourself when you sign up. You're not just spending three nights in a castle, you're getting into a whole new world. And once you're in, you'll never want to leave. Within two weeks of returning to the States from CoW 14, I secured my spot for CoW 18 the following November.

One piece of advice - pack extra layers. Poland is cold in the fall! ;)

College of Wizardry 15 - Greatest decision of my life

I have never larped before so the idea of doing this was a bit out of my view of possibility. Didn't think it would be my thing. I always felt self conscious when it came to acting out my roleplay to such an immersive degree not like I usually roleplay during tabletop RPGs. But now, with thanks to the encouragement of a particular YouTube channel (Larp House) and a really good friend (Stephen Cullen who showed me Larp House), I have now been to a Dziobak LARP and it was no doubt the best thing I have ever done. It broke me as a person for the better. The friendships that formed, the plots I experience as a character I made, the location, the staff...every bit of this experience was just as magical as the last. I seriously cannot recommend this more. These guys clearly know what their doing to give you the best experience possible. I was prepared to go back and do more before I even got home from this one. Best time and money I ever spent. Thank you, Dziobak studios, I sincerely love you. My life is considerably full of more love and joy than before thanks to you <3

College of Wizardry 15

I always was scared to go to a larp because I never went to one! But I can say: just go to COW!! It is perfect for newbies! It was an awesome experience and you never had the feeling to be alone. Everyone is trying to help and it is perfectly organised! You just need to go and live the experience! You can be on the side and “just” watch or you can be right in the middle of the action! It is all up to you! Be careful: it is addictive ;)

A really great experience. The LARPs from Dziobak let me live to see more realities, because I'm not content with just one.
For me these larps are the most exhausting, extraordinaire but also refreshing vacations...not only a vacation from work and homecountry but also a vacation from prejudice and everyday problems.

Winter Banquet

I was lucky enough to win a ticket to the Winter Banquet in December, 2017, and though I was initially terrified at the thought of going, I am so happy that I chose to ignore my misgivings, because it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life.
Everyone was open, kind, and welcoming, and although I didn't do any pre-gaming (agreeing on plots or relations before the game begins), I still got involved in several awesome and intense plots, which really made it all worth it.

College of Wizardry 15

As a new larper with social anxiety, I was both excited and terrified when I got a ticket to College of Wizardry. However, from the online introductions and interactions over the months leading up to the game, to the teary farewells on our last morning at Czocha, all the players and organizers I have interacted with have been incredibly helpful and welcoming. I loved how dedicated everyone was to co-create an immersive experience and involve new as well as experienced players – it made my days at Czocha magical in such a real way, and I felt more at home there than I have ever done before. After a few weeks back in the mundane world, I have already signed up for another game, and I can't wait to return next year, a little braver, for another adventure at Czocha.

Absolutely Amazing. Do not miss out on it!

Hard to describe all the things that went through my head throughout the game and the days after, but I will say this-
It was definitely the best Larping experience I've had and one of the best experiences I've had in my life in general.
It is absolute, and sucks you right in.
To summarize -
I've already go tickecks to next winter's game.

Skull & Crossbones review

As being a pirate on the Baltic Sea, Dziobak Studios created a world for the players that fostered intrigue and suspicion among three crews of pirates who in the story mutinied against their former capt.
I spent time on a real ship, learning the ropes figuratively (and for real), and sailing among the ports. It was an amazing learning experience and quite a ride. Meeting people with various experiences of Larping and sharing stories really brought everything together. I highly recommend this Larp to anyone who wants to try a sailing larp or likes being a pirate.

Fairweather Manor 2017 - A very special LARP event to remember

Fairweather Manor 2017 was one of the most impressive (if not THE most impressive) live action roleplay (LARP) events that I have ever visited. And I have visited quite a few uncommon LARP events so far.

The organization was just perfect. And during in-game, organizers and coordinators where easy to reach, alway friendly, and ready to assist.

The game itself was so intensive, that I sometimes had the feeling to be situated in a film. Part of the time just watching, and part of the time actively acting in my role, giving my personal note to the gameplay.

But all the effort of the organizers would have vaporized into nothing if the players had not been the great peers that you just need to bring a good setting to live. Even those who never had visited a LARP event before delivered an amazingly great play. Everybody seemed to be really committed to do the very best, in playing his or her role, as well as in creating a convincing look and feel for the character with fashion, details, and attitude.

All right, the price for the event is quite above the average price, compared to standard LARP events in Germany. But the value for money was also fine, spending 3 nights in a great castle and having delicious food, provided almost all around the day by a professional staff.

In the end, it is a clear and strong recommendation. You may benefit most if you already have some experience in LARP. But actuially, this does not really matter. As a total newby, you will have the great opportunity to start your LARP experiences in a great and very special setting ("Downton Abbey"), and with really committed co-players and organizers. You will find something that is not easily to experience in "standard" LARP.

Therefore I am happy that my ticket for Fairweather Manor 2018 is already booked. And I am afraid to say that FM 2018 is currently already booked out. But as far as I know there is a waiting list ...

I was not eager to go - but loved it!

My husband and I participated at the fairweather manor as our first LARP. Though I was not very eager to participate and found the exercise a bit too 'geeky' once it started I loved it!! I really recommend it to everyone who would be remotely thinking about it (or not). A fun thing to do with your partner or friends and a deep self-reflection exercise. A really good experience to have!

Fairweather Manor

An amazing LARP set in a castle fit for an adventure. The possibilities for immersion were endless, and the organizers makes the game accessible to anyone wanting to have a go - newcomers and experienced LARPers alike.
My most beautiful LARPing experiences to date. I will be back next year - the ticket is bought!

Fairweather Manor

If you ever wished to be inside Downton Abbey, this is it.
Fairweather Manor is a 360 degree real-life experience of being a noble or a servant, for two whole days, at a stunning castle in Poland.

The surrounding are beautiful. The 130 other participants sweep you off your feet with their awesomeness. You laugh, you cry, and you never forget it.
