My favorite place of all!
I first visited Dirkx Mineralen in Middelburg in 2022, and it quickly became my favorite store! As a crystal enthusiast, I truly admire their commitment to offering authentic gemstones. Since that initial visit, I’ve been captivated by their incredible selection.
I’ve also explored their locations in Maastricht, Vlissingen, and Rotterdam. During my visit to the Maastricht store, I was specifically looking for obsidian. Initially, I was told they didn’t have any, which was a bit disappointing. A bit later, I managed to find some polished pieces myself, suggesting the staff might not have been fully familiar with either their inventory or the names of certain crystals. The lady assisting me was very friendly and so lovely but not particularly interactive. It would be wonderful if the staff shared a passion for crystals—it really adds to the experience. That said, I understand it was also partly my fault for visiting an hour before closing, which might have contributed to the oversight or maybe the language barrier? Overall I don't mind at all.
In the end, I made a lovely purchase worth €130, and it was entirely worth it. I’m excited to return and hope to find even more diverse offerings in the future. I’m still sad that the Middelburg location has closed—it used to be my absolute favorite, even though it was quite a long drive for me! :)
