Hi — Charlotte here. I’m really sorry you’ve had such a frustrating experience.

To investigate and fix this I need your IMEI (and order number) — it’s required to find your order and is the only way we can resolve device-specific issues. Without that reference we can’t address your concerns; please use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can sort this quickly.

Quick note from our policy: "Wrong IMEI: No refund if the provided IMEI is incorrect." Share the IMEI here or via Live Support and I’ll escalate this to our technician right away.

They're criminals

They're criminals. First they give you $25, you pay the $25, and then to continue the unlock they ask for $54, but they don't tell you that you have to keep paying more money. I didn't continue.

Hi — Charlotte here, I’m sorry you had that experience.

A couple of points from our terms that explain how this can happen: "1.1 The service ... begins at the point payment has been received" and "2.1 It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for." Also, "7.3 …there may be an additional price to pay for the sim unlock itself" — some unlocks can require upgrades which show up as extra charges.

To look into this properly I need your IMEI (and ideally your order reference). In the absence of any reference we cannot address your specific concerns — please use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can review your order and explain exactly what happened.

Thanks,
Charlotte

Cricket phones are firmware HARDLOCKED even in recovery mode. Do not waste money on this. Six month mandatory Cricket service period before unlocking.

In retrospect and upon further research ( also seeing how many others had this experience,) I have concluded that my negative experience is partially from using Direct Unlocks when there was no positive outcome. Most of it can be placed upon the Cricket phone company for hardlocking its phones via onboard firmware based app and disabling developer mode and demanding increasing "ransom" payments to unlock it. As it is I do find Direct Unlocks less than forthright with its customers about the payment process which is incremental but not stated up front that there would be incremental charges as the unlocking process proceeded and these charges were not *really* refundable but only offered as a store credit incentive to continue when the customer decides to stop paying for a service they are not getting. A friend gave me a NEVER USED 2025 G Motorola phone to replace my dying motorola phone. The new phone was hardlocked by Cricket and pretty much rendered a brick. My payments began at $25 then a "final" payment of $55 was requested which was followed the next day by request for $199 to download some kind of unlocking software. I had completely lost confidence that this process was going to do anything less than bleed me of more money and ultimately lock me into a six month minimum service commitment to Cricket before the phone could be unlocked so I accepted the loss of my $80 and Il Caveat Emptor for those who follow. No refund only a store credit towards dumping more money into a dubious transaction. HUGE NEGATIVE review of Cricket for being so greedy and avaricious though other carrier will doubtless take up this practice, and loss of trust with Direct Unlocks for NOT EVER mentioning that incremental payments with continuing unlocking denials were a significant possibility. I could have bought a comparable unlocked Motorola for $250 or so. As it is I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and the the Moto 2025 G has been factory reset and sits in my desk awaiting a time when I can defeat this insidious hardlock app From Cricket. Direct Unlocks should NEVER accept payment from a customer to unlock a Cricket phone and should CEASE advertising Cricket unlocks as a viable service. Unfortunately we no longer have a Consumer Protection Bureau so Cricket can do this with impunity.

Hi — Charlotte here. I’m really sorry this has been so frustrating.

A quick summary and next steps for your Jun 6, 2026 order: you’ve paid $24.99 (Eligibility Check) and $54 (Standard Unlock). Your order status is “Awaiting Payment for Remote USB Unlock” — please initiate that payment via your Tracking page so we can proceed.

A couple of important points from our policies:
- “An Android device is only able to be unlocked via a code if the device asks for an unlock code… if your handset doesn't ask for an unlock code prior to payment, then we will not be able to unlock the device but still incur submission costs and you will instead have to use a Remote USB unlock at additional cost.” (Terms & Conditions, 7.4)
- “Remote USB Unlock: Refund is given if the service is incompatible or doesn't work. Remote USB Unlocks are only relevant to Samsung, Motorola, LG and Huawei phones.” (Refund Policy)
- You were issued a credit note — “Credit Notes can be used against any sim unlocking service… simply click 'Use Credit Note' on the checkout page when purchasing.” (Terms & Conditions, 7.10)

You can use your credit note or pay the Remote USB fee on your Tracking page. If the Remote USB proves incompatible, it will be refunded per the policy. If you want, reply and I’ll guide you through the Tracking page steps.

Hi — I’m Charlotte. I’m really sorry you’re having this experience and I want to help.

Our terms explain how payments and refunds work: service begins once payment is received (“The service ... begins at the point payment has been received”) and some failures are refundable while others are not. For example, the Refund Policy states: “Premium Services which fail - both your Standard and Premium payments will be fully refunded back to your card if it is not possible to unlock your device having tried Premium Service.” It also explains limits: “Pre-orders... are not covered by our money back guarantee” and “It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for.”

We can’t investigate or validate your claim without your IMEI — this is required to find your order and check what happened. Please provide your IMEI here or use the Live Support link on your tracking page so we can look into this and resolve it for you.

Thanks,
Charlotte

Hi — I’m really sorry this has been frustrating. Our notes show your order from 22 Jun 2026 was cancelled by you and a full value credit note was issued.

A couple of relevant points from our policies:
- “we will issue you with a credit note to use against a different service in the future:” (Terms & Conditions)
- For Premium iPhone attempts the policy also states that “Premium Services which fail - both your Standard and Premium payments will be fully refunded back to your card if it is not possible to unlock your device having tried Premium Service.” (Terms & Conditions)

I want to get this sorted quickly for you — I can either:
1) Arrange a priority re-attempt using your issued credit note (I’ll escalate to our unlock techs for EE UK iPhone 17 Pro Max), or
2) Check the case for a card refund and escalate it for review (no promise of outcome, but I’ll open the review).

Please reply with your order number or the email used for the order and which option you want — I’ll take care of the next step right away.

Still waiting for promised refund

I paid the 2 payments required. The initial payment I accepted was non-refundable. This was in April. We waited weeks and finally got to 99% immenent for unlocking . Kept being assured unlocking was immenent. Finally, after no further movement I requested a refund of the 2nd payment (we had met the criteria for a refund). We were told a refund was being processed and could take up to 14 days. We waited. We were told after the 14 days to wait another 14 days. We did and it is now July. My only conclusion is that we have been scammed.

Hi — I’m really sorry for the stress this has caused. I can see you paid £14.99 (Eligibility Check) and £30 (Standard Unlock) on 20 Apr 2026.

A couple of quick points from our policies:
- "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable." — so the £14.99 is non-refundable.
- If your unlock is still in progress, "your unlock is 99% complete and should be completed imminently."
- If the Standard service fails, note that "Standard Services which fail and which are not upgraded to Premium Service will be issued with a credit note only." Premium failures are refundable: "Premium Services which fail - both your Standard and Premium payments will be fully refunded back to your card..."

I don’t believe you’ve been scammed — I will escalate this right away to our technical and billing teams. Please reply with your order number or the email used for the order and I’ll chase this up and get you a clear update within 48 hours.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST

THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I want a refund to my card or I’m disputing with my bank! I’m also an attorney so we can take that route also. I’ve been sitting at 99% for a long time and now no one is responding to me.

Update:
They have replied to my post with the same message they have sent me before, I have been waiting over a week since they last replied to me on the website so I’ve definitely been waiting at 99% for the longest time and I’m still waiting on my refund so where is my refund because I paid for the premium to make sure it was going to be unlocked which you guys told me it would be so I want my money back

Hi — I’m Charlotte. I’m really sorry for the frustration and delay.

Quick update: your iPhone 16e unlock for StraightTalk USA is showing In Process and is 99% complete — it should be completed imminently. I’ve escalated this to our senior technicians and you’ll receive the completion update as soon as it finishes.

A couple of important points from our terms while we wait:
- “It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for.” (Terms 2.1)
- “Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable.” (Refund Policy)
- “Premium Services which fail - both your Standard and Premium payments will be fully refunded back to your card if it is not possible to unlock your device having tried Premium Service.” (Refund Policy)

Because the unlock is still in progress we can’t issue a refund right now, but if the Premium attempt fails we will refund the Standard and Premium payments to your card per our policy. The Eligibility Check payment is non-refundable.

I’ll keep monitoring and you’ll hear from us very shortly with the final status. Thank you for your patience.

Direct Unlocks is a scam company

This is a scam company.
Said they could Unlock quickly, for £15.
Replied that it was 'hard' locked and they'd have to ask O2 - cost £41.
Month later - still not possible - now asking for £54 which they say is 'negotiated with O2'

Hi — Charlotte here. I can see your order (placed Jun 30, 2026) shows only the Eligibility Check paid ($24.99) and the Unlocking Payment of $54.00 is still pending.

The Eligibility Check is a separate, non‑refundable step that only tells us if the device can be unlocked — the actual unlock is a second payment. As our terms state: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable." and "It is not possible to cancel your order once it is paid for." Also: "'Pre-orders' also referred to as 'Eligibility Checks' are not covered by our money back guarantee."

For Android devices like the ZTE MC888S, note: "An Android device is only able to be unlocked via a code if the device asks for an unlock code... if your handset doesn't ask for an unlock code prior to payment, then we will not be able to unlock the device but still incur submission costs and you will instead have to use a Remote USB unlock at additional cost."

If you want to proceed, please initiate the $54 unlocking payment via your Tracking page. You can also read other customers’ experiences here: https://directunlocks.com/unlock-u#review_section

If anything’s unclear or you want me to check your Tracking page status, tell me and I’ll help.

Bait-and-Switch Scam

They charge you money ($7) for a "Network Check" and then immediately ask for more money ($25) to actually get the unlock code.

It's a classic bait-and-switch scam.

And then on top of that, they spam you with emails to get you to keep paying.

Hi — Charlotte here. Sorry this felt like a bait‑and‑switch; I can clarify.

- Our records show one payment of $6.99 for the Network Check on Jun 27, 2026. Your order status is: "Network Check Only - awaiting initiation of the unlock process by paying the stated fee on their tracking page." Please initiate the unlock payment via your Tracking page to start the unlock — that’s required to proceed.

- The Network Check / Eligibility Check is non‑refundable. As our terms state: "If you decide not to proceed with the unlocking payment, we cannot refund the cost of the Eligibility Checks, as we have already performed the service." The Refund Policy likewise notes: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable."

- Sorry about the emails — you can unsubscribe from our messages or request removal of your details: "You can ask for your details to be completely removed from our database at anytime."

If you’d like, I can walk you through the Tracking page payment or check the exact next cost for your Franklin_Wireless RT410.

Deceptive advertising

Deceptive advertising, unlock your phone for 22 euro and then checks are made as you are thinking the unlocking process is taking place. Once this is complete you get another bill for over 52 euro more for the unlock code, so over 74 euro to unlock and the phone is only worth 100 euro.

Update after reply, Yes your business model is show more fake reviews from bots and fake accounts etc. with no real profile or real reviews and make sure that outweighs the thousands of 1 star reviews from real accounts. Good job keep ripping people off using the loophole so it looks like you have relatively good reviews. Why not show the average review count at the bottom of your payment page instead of all the 5 star reviews you paid for? SCAMMERS!

Hi — sorry you feel misled. I can confirm your payment of €22.99 was for an Eligibility Check only and your order is now "Only paid for Eligibility Check, awaiting Unlocking Payment of €54.00."

Per our terms: "Pre-orders, eligibility check, and unlocking costs are incurred immediately upon placing your order" and "Pre-orders...are not covered by our money back guarantee." Our Refund Policy also states: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable." The Eligibility Check can show a different unlock price depending on network/phone criteria (this is shown on your order summary).

If you want to proceed, please initiate the €54.00 unlocking payment via your Tracking page. You can also read other customers’ experiences here: https://directunlocks.com/unlock-samsung-open#review_section

If anything above is unclear or your phone doesn’t prompt for an unlock code, let me know. — Charlotte

Hi — I’m Charlotte, sorry this has been stressful.

I can see your order placed on Jun 19, 2026 for an iPhone 11 (Vodafone UK). Our system shows the status as “Unlock Complete” and that you paid £14.99 (Eligibility Check) and £30 (Standard Unlock).

Please try the standard completion steps for iPhones: "iPhones: connecting the phone to WiFi and turning the phone off and then on;" (Terms & Conditions 8.1). Also check the email we sent for any finishing instructions and try a different SIM to confirm the lock is gone.

I know paying again feels wrong — please note our Refund Policy states: "Eligibility Check: These checks are non-refundable." If the phone still shows locked, reply with your order number and confirm you’ve done the Wi‑Fi/restart step and I’ll escalate this to our techs right away to get it resolved.
