I was scammed by them for 179 £

I was scammed by them for 179 £, just read the reviews of what I did, they took my money, thieves, and they say that the subscription can not be refunded!!! did anyone get their money back because i contacted the bank let's see what can be done 🙏

In a greatest hits parade of terrible customer experiences, this is without doubt up there with the worst of them

After placing an order, there was a delay in it showing up in the confirmed orders section of my account on DC’s website. After querying this with their customer service team, they informed me there was no record of it and that I would have to place a new order. Good that I didn’t follow this advice, as about 30 minutes later, it showed-up in the orders section of my account. It seemed that the customer service advisor wasn’t aware of how their own website worked.

My order was later shipped by DC’s courier in the US, Orange DS and transferred to their partner courier for the UK leg, Yodel. On reaching Yodel’s delivery depot in the UK, the item was promptly returned to sender by the courier before it was delivered due it being overweight. At this point, it appeared that Desert Cart had mistakenly used a standard shipping service for the item (which weighed about 50kg and was clearly well beyond the maximum weight for a standard service).

Following this, I reached out to DC’s customer service and asked if they could send a replacement item on the basis that the return was due to their mistake. In return, I was informed “There is no option for us to replace the order unless it is missing or damaged. We will get this monitored and ask them to arrange the return as soon as possible."

I subsequently followed up on a weekly basis on three more occasions to ask for an update. Despite asking for DC to clarify what exactly it was doing to rectify the situation and what the ETA would be for a new item to be shipped, all I received in response were vague replies ignoring my questions and telling me to remain patient (which seemed to offensively suggest that I wasn’t). This information is what you would expect a vendor to provide as a matter of course if they were rectifying a situation brought about by their own mistake.

Five weeks after the purchase has been made (and three since the return had been made), I asked for somebody to provide clear answers on where exactly the returned item was and when it would be re-shipped. After insisting that this information was provided, as opposed to being fobbed off yet again with another vague non-answer, DC simply processed a refund without asking whether I would prefer a refund or for the order to be fulfilled.

Overall, this was an exasperating experience on different levels – not only did it call into question whether DC have proper processes in place (to avoid mistakes such as using the wrong type of courier) but the customer service was also well below what you would expect, especially where a company is rectifying its own mistake ؘ– ignoring reasonable questions asked by a customer and fobbing them off with vague answers, isn’t acceptable.

Fraud membership scheme

If you are thinking to buy anything through them, don’t! Terrible company with no ethics. They are not a shopping and delivery service, instead they are operating a fraud membership scheme.

It's a SCAM

I ordered £75 worth of goods from them a month ago.
Today they charged £179 more for membership which I haven't authorised.
I have contacted the company via chat, but the person can not do anything without apologies.
I have contacted PayPal to get a refund.
Be careful this company. It is a SCAM!!!!

Fraud

Fraud. Buying anything signs you up to a PRO membership which has scammed me £179. They say there is a 30 change your mind period when you complain but in fact the Terms and Conditions say you cannot change your mind. The chat online and customer service is a sad joke. They never can nor will do anything. I am still sending complaints but they do not care. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Scam artist

Scam artist..you make a purchase and then they sign you up for a PRO annual membership which is not refundable. With Amazon it clearly states that Prime will be 7.99 each month or yearly cost of £109 so you can cancel after a few months you given the option..with this company they just take the money out of your account without our knowledge it's a total fraud. And you get no email to advice you about the cancellation or fee to be taken out prior to money coming out of your account..Avoid so many have been scammed avoid by using this company.. it's disgusting how they have gotten away with it thus far.

Definitely don’t trust

Definitely don’t trust. It is a scam they’ll rob you out of your money. Pro membership one month free is there so that they can take almost $200 when you forget to cancel your membership before the month is over. They will send you a reminder a week into your free membership but not before the expiration.

I have placed an order through this…

I have placed an order through this website and everything has been great. A lot on 1 star reviews on here because at checkout you are offered free delivery if you sign up to the pro membership free trial at the end of which you will be signed up to their annual membership. Amazon does this with prime so I'm not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist. Read the T&Cs!

If we could enter no stars we would.

We thought we were doing what we needed to get product posted from 🇺🇸 USA to 🇬🇧 UK. We are dyslexic & have other mental & physical disabilities & find words forms etc. Challenging.

What had actually happened we now realise is we signed up for a 30 day free trial to get free postage.

We Just Got charged £179 for an annual membership we were unaware of & don't need.

Because we agreed to their terms and conditions they won't refund.
They sent an email after payment confirming this and one a week later but unlike other considerate good companies, not a week and day or/and 2 before payment. If this had happened sure we would have picked up on it & cancelled as we wouldn't have know what it was. We know this because this has happened before & we do our best to keep on top of this.

Most companies would be compassionate & make an exception & refund due to unique circumstances of which we could have provided dysability documents as evidence we aren't scamming them like they are praying on vulnerable people who are not good with words or understanding certain things.

We have rare dyslexia, processing language disorder, are Autistic, have Disociative Identity Disorder, Depression, etc. Have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Fibromoralgia, POTs etc.

We advise them as a company to send out an email a week, 3 days & day before or more (it can all be automated by choice) or just a day or 2 before in future as support to vulnerable people similar to us.

We are bombarded with so many emails from people its stressful and overwhelming but like malwarebytes, nordvpn, other considerate customer focussed companies they send quite a lot of reminders daily up to week before which makes it stand out.

This could have paid our electric bill.

Watch out & be careful - not a customer focussed company!

It takes a lot for us to complain & apologies not able to be kinda with our words.

Be warned - they will debit for annual pro membership

I purchased an item and received the item - paid through paypal. Great service it appears. However, one month later, it appears they set up a pre-approved payment on my paypal and debited £179 from my account for annual pro membership - which I never requested, or wanted. I have raised a dispute with paypal to try and get my money back. Avoid at all costs.

I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing a gift. Like others I unknowingly was opted in to a 'pro-membership' which 30 days later I was charged £179. There was no mention of the charge or membership at time of purchase and only one email later which mentioned a 30 day trial. They know what they are doing regardless of the replies to other complaints. This is an obvious scam/theft/fraud. I have alerted my bank & Paypal and will take this to court. They have done the text book fraud tactic of building a good rep then changing something at checkout to catch people out, I suspect offering free delivery, which then opts you into a membership. Do not give them your money.
