A really great course
A really great course, covering a wide range of textile and sewing techniques. Holly was very imformative, helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and will probably do more in the future.
Richard helped create a memorable day
Richard helped create a memorable day. Very supportive and hands on demonstrating the technique. Highly recommend the the course
Really fun morning
Really fun morning! I arrived feeling quite nervous as I have no artistic talent, but Julie made it both easy and fun. I enjoyed creating my two glass pieces with her help and was (to my surprise) pleased with how they turned out! We’re booking for the Christmas class, we enjoyed it so much
What a fantastic day
What a fantastic day! Pete is a very welcoming chap, who clearly loves his craft. Was utterly captivating to chip away at our blocks of wood, and before we knew it the day was over. Very relaxing. My wife loved it as a surprise activity. Looking forward to signing up to another of Pete’s courses
Paul was welcoming and enganging
Paul was welcoming and enganging. He has an exceptional knowledge of his subject which he teaches in an informal and personable manner. He was willing to answer any and all questions and happy to overrun so that all of the students completed their learning. A really excellent course.
Fabulous course
Fabulous course. Elle the tutor was very helpful, informative, supportive, kind and fun. Highly recommend this course if you would like to learn about Indian print block printing.
Great mosaic tile course
A really good course, where Audrey helped where needed and let you move at your own pace. Lots of different tiles were on offer to make your desired piece and there were no restrictions. Other courses I have been on by different people, limit materials etc... we ran out of time but were given everything we needed to complete it at home. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Great site to find excellent craft courses
I've been on several craft courses through this site and they have all been very good. I particularly enjoyed StJohn's building and weaving a round stool course.
All round excellent!
The site was easy to use, the pretty and "classy" voucher arrived quickly in a "do not bend" envelope. An excellent product and service.
Basket Weaving in Manor Wood
My mum and I had an absolutely amazing time at Basket Weaving in Manor Wood.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted as arranged and taken to the most peaceful and beautiful woods by Matt and Olinda. It was a really lovely environment to get immersed in basket weaving with every thing we needed (and plenty of cups of tea!)
Both Matt and Olinda were so knowledgeable and guided us to make some lovely baskets. They were patient and allowed for the group to work at their own pace.
I couldn't recommend it any more, the environment, company and activity were all 10/10. Thank you both for such a lovely day.
Beginners Crochet
I have tried in the past without success to pick up crochet but Karen was the perfect teacher, very clear and patient and I managed to get results for first time. Location is lovely in the Lechlade Craft Barn and I would highly recommend to beginners
Went on a fantastic course for beginners
Went on a fantastic course for Cyanotype with Bridget. It was excellent!, Bridget was so knowledgable and made it easy for you to come away with something you are proud of. It was my first time in doing it as well. Highly, highly recommend, 10/10. Thank you Bridget :) Alison x
As a very novice sewer
As a very novice sewer - I actually made a jacket i am proud to wear in four hours. Charlotte the tutor - - an ex school teacher - (get the job done sort of person), who is guiding, kind, fun and was determined i would go home with a finished piece of work - fabulous teacher - she has given me a great day, plenty of precious information and the best of all - the confidence to know i can do this again on my own….. Would highly recommend
Papercutting Workshop Pheasant
We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The amount of time for the workshop was perfect, with step by step help when needed. Definitely a beginner level for all. Thank you for the refreshments and it was lovely to go home with our completed pictures.

Jason is a highly skilled craftsman…
Jason is a highly skilled craftsman with decades of experience in this field. He's an entertaining and informative teacher and I personally learnt a lot during the day whilst having a very enjoyable time. I can't recommend this course highly enough.
The perfect gift experience for fantasy lovers & the dad who is hard to buy for!
I booked this course for my partner as a Christmas present and we had the best time! I honestly could not recommend enough!! I've been telling all my friends about it!
I had absolutely no experience of forging when I initially booked, so I wasn't sure whether the knife forging or the blacksmithing experience day would be better suited to myself and my partner. I reached out to Alex and he was incredibly helpful and provided some more information so I could make the decision. I actually think, on reflection, that the information is available on the website but he was very patient in passing it along to me anyway!
Fast forward to yesterday, when we turned up for the course - we had already received an email so we knew what to wear/bring and where to go, meaning the arrival process was really straightforward. Alex welcomed us to the forge very warmly and talked us through the day.
We spent our morning forging, then our afternoon refining the blade and making the handle. Alex was incredibly knowledgeable and patient throughout - he spoke clearly and made the process seem very doable, and was more than happy to answer questions from anyone in the group.
Some parts of the process are more technical, and Alex was more than happy to step in when we asked to make sure we all went home with a beautiful knife. We were running a little tight on time just before lunch, and Alex spent around 10 minutes showing off his experience by perfecting all of our knives (for context, we'd been going for about 3 hours trying to get to the same point!).
As mentioned at the start of my review, I really could not recommend a knife forging day at Hammer and Hound Forge enough! The perfect gift experience for any fantasy lovers or crafty folk - perfect for the dad who is hard to buy for IMO!
We will definitely be looking to take more of Alex's workshops in the future!
Absolutely wonderful day ,the forest is…
Absolutely wonderful day ,the forest is so peaceful and the area to do the basket weaving is delightful ,our teachers Olinda and Matt are perfect in helping everyone ,this is my 4th time and I enjoy it every single time .
Stamps Away Book Binding - Great fun and challenging day
ALi - our teacher - was so full of fun facts, and went out of her way to amke the bog book we made interesting.
It was a challenge to make a 240 page, leather bound book, and with Ali's guidance and support everyone did just that.
At the end, she was super generous - everyone went home with more pamphlets they'd made and spare items off the table to go home and do more book binding.
Thank you Ali. Would happily recommend to friends.
A great experience
Your review:
We had a wonderful day. The tutor explained everything very clearly and was very helpful and encouraging. The workshop was very well equipped with all the necessary tools to hand. There was a wide choice of coloured and textured glass for us to use. We were extremely happy with the Tiffany style t light holders we made.
Great learning experience
The sawmill site is interesting to visit. Excellent cafe, gift shop full of genuine fabulous handmade gifts. Kate is an excellent teacher. She shared so much of her valuable experience with us. Highly knowledgeable and patient to explain when I didn't understand. An excellent day where I learnt a lot. I will be returning for the sharpening course.
