Compass in my opinion have fulfilled all their obligations in a professional and timely manner. Olivia who I dealt with had a very friendly disposition and answered my queries without hesitation. 5 star service.

Compass proved essential when needing a reliable, component and trustworthy umbrella service.

In the freelance world, there is often a feeling of lack of infrastructure - and this is where Compass filled that gap and not only helped with the admin side but made also helped with any money related questions I had. Happy to recommend to anyone.

Stay away from compass!

Ignore feedback from this company- I asked *for a proper breakdown, a pause on any further requests for the payment, and this is the viral response below!* Im currently looking in to legal options, already filed with ACAS as of today- and if this reprehensible umbrella company actually read this review properly, they would understand that the reason why I mentioned the recruitment company is because both recruitment company and umbrella company worked in tangent.In resulting in me owing the so called alleged overpayment, which I completely dispute and disagree with. It's been a few weeks now- as mentioned are medically vulnerable have a few health issues and have been down again with another viral infection. All medically documented!!! Sadly, I had to put a pause on me. Seeking legal advice about this entire situation. Properly anyway, so the most I could do was just file with ACAS- & hopefully I can get legal advice, get a REPUTABLE organisation to look into payslips/pay error.Because I will absolutely NOT take this reprehensible 'Compass' word. Also- this isn't about the agency its about 3 organisations that worked in tangent that then resulted in me supposedly owing money which I know have to get someone to look over for me. Stay far away this umbrella company. From the outset, this recruitment agency was a complete CIRCUS of mismanagement — I waited two months for a role that lasted less than a few working days, faced repeated errors & no support, and the umbrella company compounded everything. I quickly requested my P45 & they initially tried to delay it when the first payment error occurred! Don’t make the same mistake I did signing up or staying, because you don’t want your payslip to be messed up. How they ended all of this was with an allegation of an absurd **overpayment** and they expected me to pay within 5 days!!! (I am still disputing it as I do not believe it) — that’s when I demanded my P45 & they finally obliged! 😒🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

I have known health issues & my recruiter was fully aware, yet despite me politely warning her “please don’t let my payslip become another issue”, recruiter & umbrella company still mishandled my pay even though my timesheets were submitted correctly & on time. The alleged overpayment stems from a so-called “advance payment” 🙄 that I **never agreed to**. The way they misrepresented this was completely misleading — they never told me that agreeing to it would mean I wouldn’t get paid the following week. This should never have existed & shows total disregard for my wellbeing & BASIC FLIPPING COMPETENCE! For this to now end with Compass claiming I owe over £700 is *absolutely horrific*.

The way the umbrella company processed everything with zero transparency or explanation, alongside misleading guidance from my consultant, means the errors were entirely avoidable & their responsibility. I do not purport to know their motives, but the timing & nature of this situation is deeply suspicious & appears deliberate. This is not minor — it is vile administrative chaos, stress & financial risk.

I will be escalating this matter to the correct regulatory authority bodies, including ACAS, the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate & HMRC, to ensure proper investigation & accountability. Do not trust this umbrella company, council & recruitment agency — these organisations are utterly reprehensible.

As an umbrella company, Compass doesn’t offer recruitment services, and isn’t responsible for the overseeing of your duties or your integration into your placement, so your concerns with your agency and client need to be addressed towards them separately. Additionally, Compass is not involved with the handling or submission of your timesheets, and had a contractual obligation to process an advance payment per the request of your agency.

That being said, we do apologise for any confusion you have experienced surrounding your payments. Compass has taken a number of steps to minimise this, and we hold a record of all of the comms sent to you which demonstrate that we have been proactive in providing you with information. For example, we emailed you ahead of issuing the advance payment with a detailed explanation on how it works, and how much you would be paid. We didn’t receive a reply straight away so sent another email to make sure everything was ok, to which you replied with your thanks and confirmation that funds had been received.

As you are aware, all of the concerns you have raised in your review have already been addressed numerous times over the phone and across the seven emails we have sent to you on this matter, which contain detailed explanations, reconciliation, and reassurances. It is also clear in our emails that the advance payment and overpayment are completely separate from one another, and that the advance payment did not cause your overpayment.

Please take some time to read back through our emails to you, as it may help in your understanding of the situation. Furthermore, our last email, which contains concrete evidence of the overpayment made to you, has not been responded to. Please address this at your earliest convenience.
