How this company uses Trustpilot
See how their reviews and ratings are sourced, scored, and moderated.
The way their ad pops every time I open dev video is really annoying. They are burning cash for nothing.
Last year I signed up for a Codecademy Pro subscription as a health care worker. It was being offered at half price.
I used it for about 6 months off and on. I don't know how it happened that I didn't know about an automatic renewal. I don't want the subscription. I could never afford the full price amyway.
Now what I am reading is that there are no refunds on subscriptions after the initial .
date. This is unbelievable. I really need an exception.
I tried contacting customer service and creating a ticket but it would not let me. I don't know how to contact customer service.
I am updating this review on 1/18/25. They have issued me a 50% credit which I acknowledge is very fair as Codecademy is a very good learning platform.
First I thought cool, they at least respond to all low ratings but then I realize its just an automatic response generator. Watch, I bet I get the same response just because I rated 2 stars even though i I now writing I do not want or wish for any response from the help center and I do not want to help resolving anything.

I paid for pro after trying the free version for a week, seemed really good from that short period and It only got better with pro.
I had an issue with my payment as I had a promo code that was not added after purchasing, so I emailed them and same day they responded and refunded the extra money I paid.
The tests have great videos explaining how to do the specific parameters they are asking for. It doesn't just give you the answer it explains why which is great.
I came from FreeCodeCamp as their React course was very old so a lot of the concepts where not used anymore, and the one on here is amazing and up to date too.
I've learnt so much from this, I would never use this by itself though, making your own websites, or producing your own code, whilst also looking at different resources too are always necessary for learning and improving, no matter how good the curriculum is. The tests also hand hold a little bit which makes it a little more necessary to do your own stuff.
ddoesnt teach you anything just a waste of time you write a right answer and they dont accept it
Debited £200 without invoice or notice and have a no refund policy
Revised my review as they resolved my complaint and refunded the payment. Thanks
I've been studying Python, Data Science, and AI for a few months now, and I'm making good progress. Codecademy offers an extensive range of courses, with a strong focus on practice. The Skills and Career Paths are the most in-depth options, but there are also short courses that cover niche topics.
I’m impressed with their efforts to build small communities on the platform by organizing regular online meetups where people can share their learning progress and network. Their partnership with the job search website Handshake is also pretty cool, showing their commitment to helping users achieve their ultimate goals.
They have also included an AI assistant in the code editor, which is simply a game changer! It works really well and makes learning so much easier—it's almost like having a teacher sitting right next to you.
Overall, I really enjoy the platform—it's great value for money. For someone like me, living in a small town without access to big-city learning resources, having a tool like Codecademy is essential. I'm working toward a career change, and this platform gives me hope that it will be possible. Thanks, Codecademy!

They might have good software guidance, but otherwise they are a fraud.
I took their free trial. I canceled the subscription immediately, to not be charged by mistake, in case I discover they are not what I am looking for. After the trial period passed, they offered to extend it with a few more days.
What they did not mentioned loud and clear, was that after this new extension, the 1-year subscription payment will be done automatically.
They just took 178$ from my account. I wrote to them immediately, explaining it was a mistake, I didn't even have the time to use their platfirm during the trial period and asking them to kindly cancel my subscription, delete or block my account and refund.
They ignored me up to this day. A year has passed, but they never did anything about this.

I'm currently learning Python, since I am following the data analyst path and it is really nice. I really like the platform, the quizzes that help you remember what you are learning, everything. Of course it is not enough, you have to practice a lot with other projects, but it is a really good start.
Theory and practice are nicely mixed together.

signed up for a trial just to find out minutes later that they charged me 62 dollars. FOR A FREE TRIAL. I'm glad my bank rejected it. And guess what, it happened again 2 times more!!. at that point is not a mistake anymore.

This course has no trial class, so how will you make trust in them? It would become a waste of money if the course is not relevant.

These are honestly the worst explanations I've ever seen. the material is actual garbage. you honestly will learn nothing here I've been learning full stack for 4 months and I feel like I've learned nothing but they've made my previous knowledge even worse. They tell you stuff they haven't taught you then give you the worst explanations, what's worse is they'll give you practice questions like on javascript and they honestly go out of their way to make it as confusing as possible till you're sitting there confused and not wondering what you're supposed to do. I actually hate this course don't waste your money if you have this

Service is buggy
Too expensive
Lots of outdated material
Interface is hella buggy
Wording of questions and content can be honestly garbage

Garbage, I was forced to use their dubious services back in highschool and the instructions and tutorials there suuuuuck! I was stuck for days trying to figure out how to do a proper infinite loop without crashing my browser and nothing I did worked, all because Codecademy didn't give me clear and concise instructions on how to do a proper infinite loop that wouldn't cause a crash. Screw that website with a pineapple. It killed any and all interest or passion I had for coding.

Everything went wrong: Im doing Full Stack Engineer Path, and is poor of explications, they ask to you things never showed to you, for example BackEnd chapter it's hell. Go away! Don't learn here, have no sense.

I took advantage of the Codeacademy free trial for a week. The course I tried out was the data science one, the content seems great and a nice UI. I didn’t end up continuing the trial, and I forgot to cancel, but Codeacademy generously refunded. After seeing their negative reviews, it seems Codeacademy have made it much easier to pause, or cancel your subscription.

Everything went wrong wrong. I was trying to cancel my subscription and they kept giving me the runaround and would not cancel it and keep continuing to try to charge me 300+ dollars for something I don’t use. Customer service is a f ing joke.

I am learning a lot on codecademy. The learning experience is fun and reading material is not boring. When you create project has you check off each task with clear instructions. It is a little expensive but if you pay yearly it is great! Highly recommend!
