Founded in 1872 and born from the co-operative movement, co-operative values continue to be a fundamental part of everything we do.
In 1992, we were the UK’s first bank to introduce a customer-led Ethical Policy, which empowers us to make a real positive difference to the world around us. We believe it's our duty to stand up for the issues that matter to our customers and which bind our colleagues, customers and partner organisations together.Because unlike a lot of businesses, we haven’t just developed an ethical approach — we’ve had one from the very start.

The company invests my money in ethical causes which I believe to be essential in an increasingly unethical moneytarist world.
The staff in my City's only remaining branch of the Bank
are always supportive of my requests for assistance with personal banking matters. More counter-assistants would help with waiting at busy times.
I have been offered personal instruction into how to operate on-line banking but remain too technophobic.

Had to call today and Esta helped me with the App on my new phone. I had lost my old phone, and forgot login details, and got myself locked out of online banking. She was patient and professional and her help was much appreciated.

I've been a customer since 2017 and I never had a problem with them. I moved from HSBC due to a fraudulent event. Never had problems with Cooperative. when they see any unusual activities, they will call you right away before approving a payment. And will keep the block until it's cleared.

Smile App is from the Dark Ages. Poor functionality. Smile only accepts customer messages via the online webpages. No other way to raise an issue.

I find that with my account it is a lot easier for me as a person in their late 60s, the app is not too complicated which is a great help, so thank you.

Banks a joke. You try to transfer money to your own account & it flags for fraud.
Infact, any time u transfer money it flags for fraud.
Only opened the account for the £300 incentive, it really wasn’t worth it!

I was seen in less than 5 minutes and everything was fine, brilliant service.

Slow slow slow. Trying to move money I'd be quicker getting the train to a real life bank and doing it old style. I'm leaving it's too painful.

Absolute joke of a bank. My account was accepted, only for my online access to be immediately blocked over absurdly specific security questions—like remembering the exact date in 2014 I opened an old current account—forcing me to call customer services.
The very next day, I tried paying off my credit card with my own money, and the transaction was blocked, requiring yet another call.
To top it all off, when I tried to pay for a takeaway the following day, my card was blocked again. I had to call customer services once more, only to be told by the representative that they could only deal with "urgent" issues.
No wait time, one cashier serving a customer as I entered, and another staff welcomed me to her counter. Making a significant withdrawal and the staff asked relevant questions to make sure I wasn't being pressured to make the withdrawal, in a friendly and pleasant way. Great service in all

I really appreciated the direct, speedy response when I contacted the bank with a potential fraud situation on my account. The staff members were knowledgeable and in control of the problem and responded to prevent any further escalation. I was very relieved and appreciative that things were resolved almost instantly. There was no waiting on a connection phone line but was connected to an advisor almost straight away. All in all this was an efficient, first class service that seemed well managed in a very stressful situation Thank you.

On applying for a savings account online I had to fill in a form. The form asked me for my date of birth and it presented me with a calendar that showed only the current month. To change the date the only means was to touch an arrow which moved the calendar back by one month. As I am over 80 years old, this meant I would have to touch the arrow at least 80 x 12 times to get back to my birth year. After touching the arrow about 240 times I was suddenly invited to enter my birthdate manually, and was shown two examples (something like 1 July 1960 and 01/07/1960). Neither example method was accepted when I entered my birthdate as it was magically changed to the format 1960-01-07, which was not accepted. Please redesign this part of your form so that it works.

I visited the Co-operativebank in Hanley.
On arrival I was greeted straight away as I walked through the door by a lady called Alison ( very professional )
I had an issue with my banking app.
I sat down with Alison and she reset my details for logging into the online app and I was up and running very shortly after a few security questions.
Many thanks and best regards, Roy Maxfield.
