No ozone in lid

Just adding to the many unimpressed reviews. I googled to see what price they are currently to see if I could sell my slightly defective one on for cheap or if I should just dump it. Dump seems to be the answer, but reading through I noticed one person opened up the waste box lid and discovered no ozone generator as it was supposed to have. So if course I took my lid that hasn't been fitted to it since it stopped working (bad connection at the back) 6 months ago, and now I feel even more conned. They haven't even provided what was advertised. I thought it just didn't work well, but not even fitting parts of it that were main selling points feels worse.

Anywho, my cats continue to choose the other litter trays over this one, occasionally they do a wee in it but it's too small of a usable area for such a monstrosity of a machine

My cat peed down the front of the unit on day 1 which got into the electronics and fried them out. It appears the company is out of business as emails bounced back and site is non existant any more. What a joke!!!

Bought the box in December 2023 and I…

Bought the box in December 2023 and I ran through troubleshooting issues, after that the box worked without issues and I would give it a 5 star review due to the fast customer service support and communication.

Reason for the 0 star is due to the store going out of business (as it appears), their site is down, support e-mail is down and there is no links to buy spare parts.

The litter box rubber insert is broken and I'd like to purchase extra, so I may have in case it breaks again. Since shipping takes long, I figured it would be great to have the spare pieces on hand. Unfortunately, it appears as though they are out of business so please DO NOT BUY! OUT OF BUSINESS AND TECH IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED.

I'm stuck with a box that I won't be able to maintain which is sad, I really liked this box. I will settle with a known brand such as Litter Robot which has a long time in the business and not going out anytime soon.

Do not buy

Worked great first 3 weeks. Then box started making horrible screeching sound when it emptied. Now it no longer works. Screen states "bin not found.
When I notified the company, they asked for a video, which I sent. They sent me directions to fix the "bin not found," issue. Unfortunately the set up screen does not come up, so I am unable to follow the instructions. I again reached out to them. Again they requested video and one was sent. This seems to be a revolving pattern. They want a video but continue to send the same instructions with out watching the video. Refuse to take product back, sooo what? no true warranty! If they would replace it of fix it I would be willing to give this box a second chance. With NO customer support and by not honoring the warranty I can not recommend this product to anyone.

I provide the same lack of response from customer service. I am within their one year warranty, makes terrible noise but will not empty. I have filed complaint with attorney general, bbb and with PayPal under the PayPal 180 day purchase protection. I am not sure how this will turn out in an attempt to recover some of the cost, but I encourage everyone fooled by this company to use all resources to get the word out on how bad this product is.

constantly says “no bin” error

constantly says “no bin” error. bag is not occluding sensor-even happens when bag is not present. this error results in endless scooping cycle that you have to manually exit. worthless product.

other issues: cat digs most of litter out of the robot onto floor-even with the litter-gathering step tray. I ordered a “litter gate” on etsy, but it falls off whenever the device scoops/flattens litter

there is also a horrible and very loud squeaking sound every time the device scoops or flattens litter

update: their website constantly says “server not found.”. I still haven’t heard back from customer service

extremely dissatisfied. I purchased a litter robot 4 and it works great. don’t by the chou box.

Worked for < 6 months. Hard pass.

You’re probably reading this because you are trying to save a couple hundred dollars over the Litter Robot 4. Do NOT buy this Chinese knock off.

-Non responsive customer service
-No returns after first use
-Sealed lid broke in one week due to litter getting into gear box
-Motor becomes loud after a month will wake you out of a deep sleep
-Clumps get stuck behind barrel and requires constant disassembly
-Horrible dial controls will cause you to dump all litter more than once
-Questionable safety sensors
-Does not work on carpet
-Weighing system is buggy
-3rd party app requires data collection

Bottom line is the Choueer litter box needs daily maintenance rendering it useless for trips.

RUN!!!!

I bought the Choueer box on the crowd funding site indiegogo. When they advertised, It was supposed to be 100% sealing easy to use with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee/1 year warranty. Since I’ve owned the item for a few months, since January or so, it’s been issue after issue. I tried to reach out the get my 30 return, but the email they provided did not supply that service, and they offered no help into finding the section that did. Now that I’m having mechanical issue’s I want to submit a warranty claim, but now they won’t even respond to my emails. I've seen on facebook groups of people getting blocked by reps because there asking for basic warranty claims etc. DO NOT BUY AT ALL!!! If you buy from this company you might as well burn your money. Consider your self warned.

tl;dr

tl;dr - extremely flawed product and the company seems MIA.

I bought one from Indiegogo middle of 2022, and was forgiving about how late the shipping and everything got given supply chain issues etc. It finally arrived in Jan 2023. We unpacked it and set it up, and gradually transitioned our cat to using it. One week in, she's familiar and finally there's some waste in the drawer and then the issues never stopped:

1. No notifications whatsoever. The waste heaped near the mouth of the waste bin and the sensor read the bin was full the next day. Happens every time.

2. A couple of weeks in, Litter leaks into all the crevasses and it starts to squeak loudly when doing a cycle. I disassemble the lid and deep clean all the litter out.

3. The product isn't quite what I expected - I look to contact support and there's no response. Discovered that return/refund policy excludes any initiated device. Frustrating but blame myself for not being more diligent..

4. I email support - no response.

5. Contact the after-sales Facebook group - it says they're reviewing my application to join the group and it's been months now - still not been allowed to get in.

6. Litter gets into the lid of the wastebin and it starts to jam when doing a cycle. Eventually the machine stops scooping and just reads error on the front. The choueer website says to follow a video guide to disable the bin so the machine can just expect an open tray in the bottom. The instructions say to press the button 4 times at start-up or to hold for 3s: nothing happens when I try.

6. Turns out the instructions also say to try to update to v1.2.8 of the app. My app says 1.2.7, and says there's no other updates available for the device. I search online for maybe a USB update I can do from my computer but it doesn't seem to exist. o.O

7. Eventually all the litter built-up in the waste-bin lid burns out the motor, and the waste-bin doesn't open anymore. Now the LitterBox just won't cycle and it's full of waste that can only manually be emptied.

8. I opened up the waste-bin lid and cleaned out all the litter, and happened to discover that there's no Ozone generator inside it either (it's advertised as having one to help disinfect the waste). There's a port on the circuit board inside the waste-bin lid that isn't plugged in to anything either. I'm also an electrical engineer if it helps drive this home harder. This is just wrong.

I now have a fancy looking dumb litter box that happens to weigh my cat... sometimes.

Please save your money but mostly, save yourself the agony. Buy something else - anything else.

Crap product that died after 2 months already and no support

I ordered a choubox from choueer web site.
After two months of usage, the product stopped working with strange noises: the door of the poo box will not operate anymore. I emailed several times the support with no response. I think they will never support the 1-year warranty they promised. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY - IT IS A SCAM.

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would. This unit has a great idea for a concept but is an absolute horrible piece of equipment. Even worse the customer service responds with unhelpful messages like be patient. I have had my litterbox since March and it worked correctly (minus never being able to connect to the app) for about 2 weeks. Then there came a problem with the lid to the waste drawer, it was leaking some blue liquid from it, and a couple of weeks later it stopped having any power to it. I have been asking for either a replacement and now a refund since April. Fortunately I kept my old litterbox while they were transitioning but I've spent around $500 with shipping to scoop my own litter daily while a dead litterbox sits taking up room. It's horrible that a company does not care enough about the humans giving them money but it also caused a great deal of stress to my cats who were throwing up for a couple of weeks while we still tried to make it work. As soon as I covered it up after sending the requested video of a unit without power, and transitioned the cats fully to the old litterbox, they stopped growing up. I'm not sure what they wanted to see if it didn't turn on, could not diagnose anything from wasting my time with a video request, which seems to have been just a delay tactics since they have not responded to me since April 21. I cannot spend another $500 or so on a new litterbox while a broken one takes up all of the space. I'm sure if I threw it away they would want it sent back. Chinese companies need to ensure they can provide the support to consumers to back up their products when they break, especially something that is a vital part of a pet family.

Choubox is the worst litter box I have ever used.

Horrible customer service. I had the Choubox litter box for less than one month. It started making awful screeching noises within two weeks. I emailed customer service multiple times and was sent directions to "reset" that never worked. They refused to replace the item. It finally died entirely on 5/5/2023. I had to throw it out. This is not worth $1, much less the $620 they are charging. They are selling a defective item, and they are not responding to customer complaints. AVOID.

Stopped working with in 28 days

Stopped working with in 28 days, said no box detected… contacted customer service and was given instructions on how to fix and then told to just remove the top of the discard box, tried all that and it would never reset. Unable to send it back because it has to be returned in the 30 days in the original box and my spouse threw the box out. Product was being used by one 15 week old kitten. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I am now stuck with a box that doesn’t work and lost 400.+ dollars.

Do not buy a Choueer Cat Box

Do not buy a Choueer Cat Box.

I received my box through their Indigogo campaign. I paid about $450. As with any crowd funding campaign you do not know what you are going to get. I knew it was a risk when I jumped in and this time I got burned.

I had tried another leading robo-box a few years ago that my skiddish cat was terrified of. She could see the hole at the bottom of that box where the deposits dropped never to be seen again. She also convinced my other more mellow cat it was going to eat him. I tell you this to explain that the thing I really liked (and still do like) about the Choueer design is that the chamber rolls backwards. My skiddish freak cat cannot see what is happening, so it intrigues her rather than terrifying her. Both of my cats use this box. But, that really the only positive I have to share.

My first problem with this box was that all the campaign participants were told to update the firmware on the litter box via wifi using one of two cell phone smart device apps. I was never able to get the firmware to update. The instructions said it would take several hours, but after 8 hours of downloading via the app, it never finished and never even seemed to start! I tried several times, used both apps and it never worked. I contacted the useless customer service and got a form letter response back telling me it had to be "2ghz" not five and it had to be just one of the two apps stated in the instructions. Well, it is 2.4ghz, and I already knew this because it was in the instructional/set up material. I was using 2.4ghz. And I had used both apps. So, I felt pretty much on my own at this point. I opted to try to use the box without the update, whatever that would have been.

At first the box operated fine, as others have said. The dumping was fine, and it was very quiet. But I did notice some design issues.

My first design complaint is actually a pretty big issue. The smaller poops go right through the sifter grate with the litter. So, the box is never actually clean. It is CLEANER, but not really clean. I do periodic secondary cleaning--something a robo box is suppose to keep me from doing! And my second complaint is that it does not hold enough litter. The limited amount of litter means the cats really can't dig like they can in a traditional box. So, while they use the box, it is not a first choice box. It is definitely an overflow box, which is really all it can handle. (I also have a more traditional box with a lid that you actually roll to clean. While too small for anything more than overflow, the roll box seems to offer a more satisfying dig as it is preferred to the Choueer box. But nothing is favored as much as their giant deep traditional box with inches of litter to dig in.)

I have been using the Choueer on manual mode and I cycle the box about 2 times per week (My two cats have 3 boxes! Lots of options!). Just in the last month I have started to have function issues. When I cycle the box, the chamber will roll back to dump, and then struggle to come back around to the starting position. It will roll a few inches forward, stop, roll a few inches back, stop, and roll a few inches forward again. I drove myself near mad waiting to see if it would correct itself or error the first time. I finally couldn't handle it, unplugged it and plugged it back in. Once the power was restored, the chamber was returned to the starting position. This is how I continue to operate the box. I have resigned myself to the impending death of the Choueer box, but for now it is still being used.

I have had one episode with lots of loud noise as others have stated, and that episode did predate my current issue. The error on the box said to contact customer service. I did not bother as I did not get real help the first time I contacted them. And after reading others experiences, it does appear that it would have been a time waste. I wondered if the loud noises I heard were related to there being too much in the catch box. I did pull mine out, find a lot of lose litter on top of the trapdoor, and find a sort of full box. I emptied it, cleaned up lose litter and put it all back together and it seemed to recover. The lose litter on the top of the bin is a regular sight though. I try to be careful not to over fill the litter in the box, but I wonder when I see it, if there is too much. None the less, if there was too much, why doesn't it end up in the bin with the deposits? Where is this lose litter coming from?? Seems like another design flaw to me.

To summarize all my rambling: I paid $450 to support this Indigogo project, and got a robo liter box that when it finally dies will have lasted 6-9 months. Not only poorly made but a poor design. Waste of money. I feel sorry for anyone who may still buy one. If they really are making a new model, I bet it is released under a new name. I think the Choueer name has gained so many negative reviews that it is in the ... litter box ... now.

PURE GARBAGE

It only worked for a month. Then, it stopped scooping the litter, just sits there plugged in , display light is on that reads "Scooping", and the device does nothing. Pure garbage and nothing but aggravation. Choueer won't refund the $400. Instead, they are telling me to wait until another factory will manufacture a model that isn't defective, and only then will they send me a replacement. They said they are "gathering data" from all over the world, so apparently this is junk everywhere and the ones they have sent out so far (that I received) is some defective prototype whereby they have pretty much ripped off consumers for hundreds of dollars. The fact that I am expected to wait "until they come up with something that will actually work" and that they are not automatically refunding my money, considering they have admitted it's defective, is unreal, and a very shady way to do business. I'd take them to small claims or ask an attorney about filing a lawsuit, but they are overseas in China . The best I can do is file a dispute with my credit card. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to get another cat box. The Litter Robot is established and reputable, but a lot.more expensive, however, I should have used better judgment and purchased it anyway. I tried to cut costs as.this was cheaper and look what I get. Live and learn. DO NOT BUY THIS. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
