Carl my instructor spent time in the evening helping me with my own van eletric problems.
Alan the instructor was not only so knowledgeable himself he was able to download this knowledge to our group of 12. He was constantly checking we understood and was demonstrating that understanding throughout the day.
An excellent day. Thankyou Alan.
We at the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust now have greater confidence in supporting our many canal boat customers.
It was an informative and interesting couple of days doing my Powerboat Advanced course. The course was dynamic and helped me improve on my weaknesses.
The instructor (Pete) was great, and taught us in a way that we all enjoyed and learnt from.
The first day was a long day (due to night navigation), but due to the break at Cowes, I didn't feel tired by the end of it.
I cant wait to come back to Chieftain Training to do my CoC and a few other courses. I highly recommend this training centre.
John, was a great instructor and mentor, which together with an eclectic mix of yachties on our course made it a super experience with very much learned and relearned.
Initially I was annoyed that the RYA effectively mandate turning Sea Survival into a qual that has to be revalidated, but having not trained or practised in this area for 24 years, I'm so glad I did it again. As always with Chieftain: slick, professional delivery from industry experts.
Great experience, best school I have been at. Thank you Doug.
The Instructor Joe is an extremely experienced electrical engineer with a very broad range of knowledge . He broke down the basics of marine electrics into a simple format giving a good onsite into the general operations of a craft and troubleshooting
Very enjoyable and worthwhile course.

STCW Medical First Aid course really gives you the confidence to approach any first aid situation and provides extended capabilities for dealing with situations offshore. 100% worth it for anyone working in the marine industry, who won't have immediate access to medical facilities. Great course, very comprehensive content and very experienced instructors.
Very flexible arrangements to suit my particular circumstances, great facilities and instructors and being well prepared to pass a difficult exam.
This was my second course with Chriftain training, I had no hesitation in returning. Everything about the powerboat CofC preparation course and exam was excellent. The facilities were spot on, the instructor was friendly and very knowledgeable. The boat was just right for the course. I am looking for more courses to do at Chriftain Training
I was expecting the course to cover basic outboard engine servicing. Unfortunately a lot of the morning was taken up covering stripping down and fault finding in carburettors - something more akin to what a marine engineer would be expected to do.
The afternoon session was much more relevant and covered what I was expecting within an engine service, e.g. oil & spark plug replacement, filter changes, accessing and replacing water pumps, general fault finding, winterisation, etc.
The training workshop could have been heated better. It was very cold and it became difficult to handle tools and small components due to cold hands.
Toilet facilities need attention. There were several courses running on the day I attended and only one toilet available 🚽.
Great course content and very knowledgeable instructors. Overall the course was valuable however, lots of delegates on this course so the whole day was quite rushed, especially the pool session.

It was an incredible experience from start to finish. The weekend was well-organized and packed with valuable learning, especially the pool sessions and case studies, which were both intense and practical. The pool sessions in particular gave us hands-on confidence in real-life survival techniques, and the case studies offered insights that made everything feel much more applicable to actual scenarios.
Our instructor were knowledgeable and kept everything engaging. We walked away with new skills and a much stronger sense of preparedness for offshore sailing. We’ll definitely be back for a refresher course in the future.
Highly recommended to anyone serious about offshore preparedness!
Excellent training from a knowledgeable and personable instructor.
Alan is an excellent instructor, the weather was great as was pirate pasties. Altogether a great experience.
Great instructor. Really knew his stuff. Very informative course. Now feel confident with continuing my boating career
