⚠️ OPODO PRIME SCAM ALERT ⚠️

⚠️ OPODO PRIME SCAM ALERT ⚠️

Don't be fooled by the "Best Price Guarantee"! I am a Prime member and I found a cheaper public price on Agoda. Even though I sent screenshots within 24h, Opodo keeps inventing excuses to avoid paying.

First they lied about the 24h deadline, then they lied about the discount being "private" (it's a public AGODASALE available to everyone). Now they’ve closed their Twitter support and left Resolver just to hide from complaints.

If you don't honor your T&C and refund the 2x difference, I will continue to warn every customer on this page. Shameful business practices! #Opodo #Scam #PrimeMember #TravelScam

It’s the biggest scam ever

It’s the biggest scam ever. They didn’t refund the money for the best price guarantee. Didn’t call us, but said they call us. Then they just added a new flight without baggage and told us that we never added it. Even after we send them the proof. Then we wanted to change the flight with flex prime. Amount to pay was 0 (in the app and online) they called us and told us that we have to pay 1000.-, then 700.- and then 390.- (for the exact same flight). Which was all much more then compared to the other airlines

Avoid at all cost

Avoid at all cost. Paid for car 5 months in advance to collect it on Christmas Eve. Collection details unclear and eventually discovered there is no car at the airport. Apparently Opodo didn't share our details with rental company (express). Chat on the website not working, unable to contact them in any other way and they're refusing to return money.

Absolute Scam Disguised as a “Free Trial

Opodo just pulled one of the most dishonest tricks I’ve ever experienced.
I was offered a 15-day FREE membership trial. The moment I activated it, they immediately charged me £99.99. No waiting period. No warning. Just straight-up took the money.
When I contacted customer service, their excuse was that I supposedly had a free trial back in 2023, so they charged me automatically.
Then why the hell was I offered a “free” trial again in the first place? If I wasn’t eligible, don’t offer it. Simple.
This is misleading at best and deliberately deceptive at worst. A “free trial” that charges you instantly is not a free trial — it’s a trap.
Customer service was useless, dismissive, and clearly trained to deflect responsibility instead of fixing the problem. This feels like a business model built on catching people out and hoping they don’t fight back.
Totally unacceptable behaviour.
Avoid Opodo unless you enjoy surprise charges and wasting your time arguing for your own money back.

1-Star Review: Disgraceful Service – Opodo Cars & Budget Birmingham Airport Wasted My Time and Took My Money

I booked a car through Opodo Cars for Budget at Birmingham Airport, and this has been one of the worst booking experiences I have ever had. After making the reservation, I waited over 24 hours for a confirmation that never arrived. No email, no update, nothing. Just silence.

Because of the delay, I called Opodo Cars myself to check what was happening. That’s when they told me “the payment didn’t go through.”
This is completely untrue — because the money was already taken from my bank account. I had the transaction sitting right there in front of me. They tried to blame “payment failure,” when clearly they had already received the funds.

So not only did they leave me waiting more than a full day for a confirmation, they also gave me false information when I contacted them, showing they either don’t know what they’re doing or simply don’t care.

Meanwhile, Budget Birmingham Airport could not help at all because Opodo never sent them a confirmed booking. So I ended up with no confirmation, no car, and a pending charge on my bank for a booking they claimed wasn’t paid.

This whole experience was extremely stressful, a complete waste of time, and caused huge inconvenience — all due to Opodo Cars’ incompetence and poor communication. They take your money instantly, but when you need support or answers, they disappear or give excuses.

Their customer service is useless, unprofessional, and leaves customers stranded with absolutely no responsibility taken on their side.

I will never use Opodo Cars again, and I strongly recommend others avoid them.
If something goes wrong, they will take your money, make you wait, and then pretend the payment “didn’t go through” while your bank says otherwise.

A completely unacceptable experience from both Opodo Cars and Budget at Birmingham Airport.

⭐ 1-Star Review – Extremely Disappointing Experience

I recently hired a car through Opodo Car Hire in Rabat, Morocco, and the experience was extremely disappointing. First, they refused to accept my credit card for the guarantee simply because it showed only the first letter of my name. This has never been an issue with any other rental company, and as a result they charged me an additional €150, which felt completely unfair.

To make matters worse, the car they provided had an expired MOT, which is both unsafe and illegal. Because of this, I was stopped by authorities and had to pay a fine on the spot. This caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and extra expenses.

A reputable car hire company should provide safe, roadworthy vehicles and treat customers fairly. Unfortunately, Opodo Car Hire failed on both counts. I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

Avoid

My experience with this car rental service was absolutely terrible and unprofessional.
I booked a car online, completed the process, and waited for confirmation. I never received any email confirmation or a reservation number. This immediately caused concern. Despite this, I arrived at Curitiba airport at the specified time only to be told that no reservation was available under my name. I was stranded and had to make last-minute arrangements at a much higher cost.
To resolve the issue, I contacted their customer service chat, which proved to be completely useless. The agent provided no solution and simply reiterated that they could not find a reservation.
The biggest issue is the aftermath: I never received the car I paid for, and I have still not received a refund for the money charged. This company failed on every possible point: confirmation, delivery of service, customer support, and financial processing.
Reservation number , only given by customer service after the complaint

Would give it 0 stars if i could

Simple as this - I booked In Terminal Airport Pick Up via Opodo with Sixt. I checked this with Sixt directly and it is not in the airport but in depot miles away where you queue endlessly on a Friday evening, I spent 50 minutes on the phone to Opodo who seem to be Car Trawler as well, and the manager said, sorry you have to pay 40 Euro extra and then later when I said this is simply Mis selling which is illegal, then he said no one is available to provide you with a car in the terminal and all I can do is cancel the booking. Terrible customer service, such a shame I used to use Opodo NEVER AGAIN

NEW SCAM BY OPODO

Besides the Prime membership scam, Opodo is now scamming customers by changing their ticket classes. I booked a business class ticket for approximately £94, which was about £3 cheaper than other apps (around £97). However, instead of receiving the business class ticket I paid for, they issued me an economy class ticket, even though the economy fare is clearly £64.

I contacted customer service and submitted a complaint form with all the supporting evidence, but their response stated that the booking could not be changed and no refund would be issued. In the end, my attempt to save £3 ended up costing me £30.

Avoid this company at all costs, they scam customers by changing ticket classes.

Prime showed a higher price than standard (useful checks inside)

What I searched:
Tenerife South Airport, pick-up 8 Nov 2025 10:00, drop-off 29 Nov 2025 10:00 (EUR).
Mini – Hybrid (Fiat Panda Hybrid or similar), Record go (rating 7.8).
Manual, Full-to-Full, unlimited mileage, damage & theft coverage, in-terminal pick-up.
“Hybrid” filter on both searches.

What I found (same session, same parameters):
• Standard (non-Prime): €308.61 for 21 days (shown “-15%” from €361.53).
• Prime: €376.81 for 21 days (shown “-€57” from €433.57).
• Prime difference: +€68.20 vs the standard price.

Why this matters:
A membership labelled as a “discount” should not surface a higher price for the identical product at the same time. That erodes confidence in the pricing logic and the value proposition of the subscription.

Constructive recommendations for Opodo:

Guarantee parity or better: If Prime ever displays higher than standard for the same SKU, auto-apply the lower price at checkout.

Transparent comparison: Show “Prime vs Standard” side-by-side with clear totals (incl. taxes/fees) before payment.

Audit & alerts: Run automated checks that flag and block Prime prices exceeding standard for the same supplier/product.

Plain-English disclosures: State when “Prime benefits do not apply to this result” instead of presenting it as discounted.

Helpful checks for other customers (do these before paying for any membership):
• Compare logged-out vs logged-in (Prime) prices on the same car and times.
• Clear cache or use a private window and repeat the comparison.
• Confirm totals with all mandatory fees/insurance included.
• Screenshot everything (results page and checkout page) and verify the supplier, fuel policy, mileage, and coverage are identical.
• If Prime isn’t cheaper, don’t use it for that booking.

Action I took:
I cancelled the subscription. In my case, Prime presented a higher price than the standard route for the same product. That’s the opposite of the advertised benefit.

Bottom line:
Opodo Prime needs robust price-parity controls and clearer disclosures. Until then, treat Prime as “verify-before-you-pay”: if it isn’t cheaper on your exact basket, skip it.

Awful company, impossible to contact customer services

Awful company, now part of eDreams which i didn't know. Booked a car, they never sent an email confirmation, never had that before. Their customer service doesn't really exist, when i emailled they just sent an automated message to go to the website (which didn't help), no online chat function that i could find, i wasted a lot of time trying. Managed to directly contact the car hire company to get the reservation codes. I won't use Opodo again, all the other car hire comparison sites I've used have been very professional.

Truly awful

How unaccomodating both Opodo and Suprice were as my credit card wasn’t ‘embossed’ so I had to buy a whole new insurance and throw away another £300, bearing in mind I’m 30 weeks pregnant and needed to get to an event. Gave us a the worst car they could find. Car hire place was so far away. Staff were rude and careless. Why on EARTH was a non-embossed card not mentioned when booking???? If it was that important. Absolutely horrific from you all.

Refund finally received after court action – others, check your rights

I originally booked a flight and hotel together through Opodo in October 2023. The flight was invalid — the airline had no record of my ticket — and I was unable to use the hotel as a result. After months of contacting customer service without success, I filed a small claim through HMCTS Money Claim Online.

The case resulted in Opodo admitting full liability, and I received my full refund on 29 September 2025.

I’m relieved the matter is now resolved, but it took legal action to get there. Other customers facing similar issues can learn more from public consumer discussions (for example, the “Opodo / eDreams Class Action Lawsuit” group on Facebook).

Hopefully, Opodo improves their refund process so others don’t have to go through this.
