FRAUDULENT SCAM

Same complaint as everyone else. Send you rewards offers to make purchases. You make purchase (sometimes in the $1,000s range) and choose the product or supplier based on the reward you have been promised but instead they pocket their commission and do not honor the reward. This is nothing short of a FRAUDULENT SCAM and I can not believe Capital One Financial Corporation is behind this or at a minimum allowing this to happen under their name and refusing to do anything about it. I will be contacting the FTC, Consumer Affairs, BBB and any other agency that handles these issues and I will post on every possible site and social media about what a complete SCAM this is.

Capital One Shopping is a waste of time

I just want to add my voice to all the other reviewers, who dislike and/or distrust Capital One Shopping. I only wish trusted pilot allowed for Zero stars. I don't know how or why any retailer would pay a commission to this company, which sends out fraudulent advertised prices. My only hope is that if enough people voice their complaints, some governmental agency will investigate this company and expose it as the hoax that it is. Or that Capital One Bank will put an end to it, since this web site will hurt its reputation.

Frustrated over the hassle

I definitely earn great rewards WHEN IT WORKS. I can see my shopping trips listed but I don't earn rewards because they claim I left their site - well you have to in some cases to complete the sale! I went to cash in my rewards today and now they have nothing useful. Sure I could find something to purchase but nothing I truly want or find useful.

I as well feel I have been duped by Capital…

I as well feel I have been duped by Capital One Shopping. I know on repetitive occasions that I in fact clicked through the email link only to be told that I exited the link by Capital One (always through email) which I know that I didn’t because if I was shopping for a while, I would go back to the link to click through again to ensure that the link was still intact. Losing 20%-30% back is not insignificant; I think there is something internally that delinks some of these purchases either on the end vendor side or Capital One Shopping. It just happens too often and I have been very careful in not going anywhere else on my device while purchasing items or hotel stays. I see the Shopping Trip in my history, but no credits. The declining number and availability of gift card options is also a bit of a frustration. Appeared to be a wonderful shopping option when I signed up but too many issues with the credits being issued.

Misleading

Constantly getting popups about savings, deals, or a $40 bonus for adding the extension/app, yet whenever trying to redeem these things it is exceedingly difficult or impossible. Did some research to find out if I was just missing something and came across a ton of scathing reviews very similar to my experiences.

After trying for the 3rd time today to get their reward for installing the extension, I wound up removing everything related to Capital One (apps, extensions, and credit cards from online shopping).
I am only keeping the card account open for credit report reasons. Never using them to shop again.

Bait & Switch???

At first (4 years of participation), this service was fab - good discounts, ease of use and reasonable redemption options. This is no longer true - discounts have been reduced, tracking and documentation are REQUIRED and the redemption options are now limited to 2nd & 3rd tier merchants (those that most shoppers DON’T want…). Customer service has been awful to non-existent - policy issues not efforts by CRMs contacted.

Many shopping trips are noted on my profile, we make the purchase and any one or all fo the follwing can occur: C1 doesn’t show the shopping trip; lists as ineligible or even notes successful completion via email, to then later deny payment!!!

When I added a CapOne credit card to our shopping program, the ability to link bonuses became significantly harder - at least 10 purchases were never linked….

Unsure if these issues are C1, merchants or both - either way this program has become a black-eye for C1, whose prior data analytics and customer service were superb!!!

Strictly Rakuten now….

It is a "PITA" and does not work properly. I have attempted to contact Capital One Shopping directly and they will only communicate via email.. I've gotten "screwed" out of savings for the past couple years. Capital One Corporate does not want to help.

Rebates offered are of little value. Bait and Switch scheme

Capital One Shopping no longer offers reward redemption for the most popular brands including Lowes, Home Depot, and Macys. The app is great if you like shopping at overpriced outlets such as Sunglass Hut or Omaha Steaks. I feel cheated. This is a "bait and switch" scheme. You sign on, use the feature, and are enticed by the possibility of getting rebate points, only to be disappointed that the rebates offered are for items you would not normally purchase. I will be switching to Rakuten.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service. They terminated my account for no real reason because I clicked the activate button several times. When I reached out, they had no phone number, and over email took a week to respond and only cited their terms of service for reasoning, refusing to give any more detail.

I had a miserable experience with this…

I had a miserable experience with this rewards program and deem it exceedingly unfriendly and not worthy of my or your time and effort.

Firstly: you are giving this company immense amounts of shopping and private data!

Secondly: MOST of, if not ALL, of my incentives I received with my daily 4-6 emails was bogus! The reward terms were not as advertised, the offer was from a "company" that was not reliable, or was an outright ebay offer. Yes. Ebay. The company that is rife with fraud and fake products.

Thirdly: the "gift cards" available to get your rewards changed drastically over time. Only THREE out of all of their card offers were for companies I had any interest in at all.. and TWO of them were removed after I had used them one time!

fourth: I had an extremely difficult time even getting those rewards (as the system is confusing and buggy!). I finally left a little under $10 in the account and simply deleted it completely. Mostly because my purchases were emailing back as canceled without explanation. Even though I had the balance and also met the minimum purchase requirements!

The last, and most damning of the issues I encountered: most, if not all, of my reward "trips" went without any payment from the vendor at all. Ever. Support was useless in getting any resolution. Always felt like I was being cheated, to be frank.

Ultimately: I found NO value in the time it took to peruse the site to activate a reward for a purchase I had planned to make... that ultimately paid me no reward (for whatever reason). This happened so often that when I did receive a reward it was no compensation for the time I spent trying.

The sheer number of "offers" that I received in email and on my phone was sickening! If even 10% of them would be something I would be interested in or from a reputable company: I would maybe consider it as an advantage. Not once did I ever consider this an advantage and of the thousands of emails I purchased ZERO offers. Bogus, and useless offers were that often.

Our shopping data is far more valuable than this experience provides as a benefit. Period. There is no grey area here. I spend a great deal of money online. I received nothing but aggravation, wasted time, false claims and offers, empty promises, and was infuriated by the total experience for over a year for pennies in return.

Cap one shopping USED to be good

Cap one shopping USED to be good. Now it takes forever to get the credit for your purchases AND recently they gave me the wrong code...one that does not work, even though they deducted the points from my account. NO ONE will return my emails and there is no other way to contact them. A good idea gone bad.

Useless and uncaring customer service

Robots for customer service. My account was accessed without permission, I am still unsure how. The hacker stole over $500 in rewards and Capital One Shopping's only response was to change my password. They are unwilling to offer any help at all. I told them they arent even following their own terms and conditions per their site. One states "h. Good Standing. To redeem Shopping Rewards, your User Account must be in good standing, which means the account status may not be terminated, suspended, or otherwise in default, your Account profile must remain up-to-date, and your email address and phone number must satisfy our verification methods." There is no phone number on my account web page. There is no where to add one. They have no type of secondary verification system (code texted to a phone number) in order to prevent fraud. Their site also states "d. Redemption. In order to be eligible to redeem Shopping Rewards, (1) your Account must be in good standing, as defined in Section 9(h) below; (2) you must have accumulated a minimum balance of $1.00 worth of Shopping Rewards; and (3) you must be able to satisfy any verification or fraud prevention requirements used by Capital One Shopping, which include providing us with a working phone number that is not associated with any other Capital One Shopping account. If you have satisfied these requirements, you may redeem Shopping Rewards provided"

Additionally, half the time when you purchase through one of their offers, you do not receive the cash back and have to jump through hoops to get them to accommodate and actually give you the rewards owed. Its a huge hassle and you have to really stay on top of anything you try to earn.

In all, I absolutely would NOT recommend CapitalOne Shopping. They have been absolutely no help with zero remorse that I have been hacked and didnt order the gift cards/rewards and only keep telling me to change my password. They do not have the customers best interest in mind. The only way to contact them is through one generic email that may take several days to get a response. You absolutely cant get anyone on the phone, even in a urgent time sensitive case like your account has been hacked.

Total scam!

Total scam!. How is this not illegal? They promise all kinds of discounts and rewards and you never get any of it. Like others have mentioned I even have screen shots proving I used their extension, it shows the discount or rewards I'll receive and then absolutely nothing. Unbelieveable!

Reward option of little value

When I added the Capital One Shopping extension, the savings / rewards seem generous. However, when trying to use the rewards, I found there are not any options which have much value to me. As a result the "rewards" are not really rewards. They need to have Amazon, Walmart, or Visa/Mastercard as reward options.
