Cancelon overbooked my reservation and blamed it on the hotel

I booked a hotel on Sanibel Island, FL about 5 weeks in advance of my stay, paying full price for 4 nights and received a reservation number. Four days before my stay I contacted the hotel directly and they had no record of my reservation. When I contacted Cancelon, the staff reported that there was a problem with the reservation staff and to allow 24- 48 hours to resolve. After 48 hours (2 days before my flight) I was notified by Cancelon that the hotel had "overbooked" me. (In fact it was Cancelon that had overbooked, not the hotel.) I was given two alternatives: accept an alternative hotel that was not on Sanibel Island or any other beach, or get a refund.

Cancelon booking for Paris hotel

I used cancelon to book a hotel near Disneyland in Paris and while it was fantastic value, and we ended up saving a lot of money, there was always a fear there that the booking will fall through. I did end up e-mailing the hotel directly to confirm the booking, and then e-mailing Cancelon a week before departure to ask if the booking was confirmed and asking for a confirmation number (which they did supply).
At the hotel, check in and check out was seamless and the only additional charge was the local tourist tax (~€11 for 4 people for 3 nights) which you have to pay at all French hotels.
Overall, a good experience, but a lot of stress leading up to the stay.
Would I recommend them? Yes, because my experience was relatively positive, but I would also recommend booking a fall back hotel you can cancel if Cancelon don't come through for you
Would I use them again? Probably not, just too much stress on the lead up to the stay, worth the extra money to book with a company that you know the booking is confirmed the minute you book it

Hidden fees once you get to the resort.

They only charge you part of the amount for the stay. Once you get to the hotel, there are other charges which were not disclosed. We were charged a $170 cleaning fee that was not disclosed before we got to the resort. There was nothing during the reservation process that said there was a cleaning fee at the hotel. All other sites include the cleaning fee as part of the reservation. This is not a reputable company. Book elsewhere.

Trying to snag a great deal this is your place, but DO NOT DEPEND ON THEM. Make sure you have a backup plan, cause they DO NOT preserve the booking while you check out (Seriously!). After reading all the polarizing reviews I decided to take a chance and flip the coin.

I got the email with my order number and was told I would receive a confirmation "shortly"... 10 hours later I had still not received it so I emailed support. A few hours later I was informed by support the booking had failed, due to someone booking the room a few seconds before I did and they were issuing a refund... that would have been nice to know 15 hours ago...

The {insert large dollar amount} question is: How long would it had been before I was informed if I hadn't emailed and asked?

I gave them the 2 stars because they did immediately refund my money, so there's that. But I doubt I will use them again, I just can't handle the stress of wondering if someone is checking out faster than I am. I also happen to like the immediate gratification of KNOWING my room is booked. So, there you go.

I took a chance on cancelon and booked…

I took a chance on cancelon and booked through them. I had zero issue Checking into the hotel and ended up saving a lot of money vs booking through expedia or through the hotel directly. I was worried at first And even opened a dispute via paypal because on the first day the hotel didn’t have a reservation under my name and I was worried especially after reading all the negative reviews online. you do not indeed receive a confirmation number from the hotel and that takes a few days but Cancelon reached back to me and reassured me. i would say to be proactive and call the hotel directly 48 hrs or so after to make sure you have a reservation. Overall i would say to take a chance on them and see what happens.

They are a scam

They are a scam. We booked drive and snooze cruise with them.We went to check in the hotel they said Cancelon didn't include parking. And Cancelon would not refund my money. So I had to go through the hotel which they said don't book with them.

Cancelon is a scam

Booked a room using Cancelon and have been charged by both them and the hotel. Cancelon has been ineffective and/or unwilling to resolve the issue. Do yourself a favor and book through a legitimate booking site.

Do NOT use.

Do NOT go through them. First they never send you an actual email confirmation - its a voucher that only gets finalize a day before your accommodations. Which explains all the problems people have.
I also found a much better rate 2 days afterwards, but because it was outside of their 24 hr. best price guarantee (which is ridiculous), they couldn't do anything. So in the end, I cut my losses and cancelled. The $210 fee (which is ridiculous since the booking is 11 months away...and most hotels have a 72 hr. policy) is still less than what I am saving going with Agoda.com

The best customer online service! They helped me to resolve my issue. My reservation was without 2 kids. I wanted to add them. The agent let me cancel my previous nonrefundable order and I bought a new one! Thank you!

Checked hotel rates in Las Vegas using…

Checked hotel rates in Las Vegas using Google maps today. In EVERY listing, Cancelon had the lowest rate. And in EVERY instance when i clicked on the rate and for to Cancelons site, the rate dramatically rose. It's obvious you guys list the price in hopes someone with click through the reservation and pay the higher price without realizing it, or at the very least being deceptive to get people on your site. Shameful behavior.
