I regularly use Caravan and Motorhome…

I regularly use Caravan and Motorhome Club sites and usually enjoy my stays. However, during a recent visit, I experienced a serious issue that I feel needs addressing.

The site locks the entry/exit barrier between 11 pm and 7 am. I completely understand restricting access onto the site during these hours for security, but being locked in is another matter. I had an emergency during the night and needed to leave the site urgently. It took me over an hour to reach someone who could let me out — which was frightening and extremely stressful in the situation.

I believe the policy should allow exit from the site at any time, especially for medical emergencies. Having to wait that long to be let out could be dangerous.

Please consider changing the rules so that the barrier allows exit overnight. Emergencies don’t wait for office hours.

My family purchased £100 worth of gift…

My family purchased £100 worth of gift vouchers for us as a treat and had to pay £8.75 postage …. Only for us to find out that in order to use them, you have to post them back to the club site at a postage cost again! So postage is over £17.00 !!!!!!
No point in buying vouchers when you are losing this kind of value of them in postage!
Customer Services acknowledged it was an issue and admittedthey’ve had several complaints and are looking into it.
Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Disappointing Experience with C&CC…

Disappointing Experience with C&CC Membership

We've been members for a year, and unfortunately, our one and only experience booking a campsite through the Camping & Caravanning Club (C&CC) was extremely disappointing.

Due to a last-minute illness in our group, we requested to move our booking a few days forward. However, we were told by C&CC that there was a strict 10-day policy for changing bookings, and since we were only one day before our scheduled arrival, they refused to accommodate our request. Despite the campsite having availability, C&CC upheld their policy and would not make any exceptions. No human discretion, no flexibility, just rigid adherence to their rules.

This experience has left us feeling extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. We won’t be renewing our membership, as we believe their policies are unreasonably strict and the customer service lacking. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend C&CC based on this experience.

No stars from us.

Never again

We’ve been members of CCC for over 25 years. But no longer wish to be associated with them.
It was great when it was all small, max 5 CL sites. It was proper camping with
minimal facilities, in beautiful places.
Nowadays the CCC mostly revolves around big sites encouraging group rallies. These large groups not only disrespect the rural areas they stay in, but also the poor residents that have to endure the chaos these large Rv’s cause on their country roads.
Rural UK does not have the infrastructure to accommodate these big groups of all singing & dancing RV’s This isn’t camping it’s more like a Holiday Camp.
Our local district council’s objections have been continually ignored by the CCC. The friendly Club??? They are arrogant & inconsiderate.
It’s about time the government ceased the planning exemptions that this very greedy club, enjoys.
If you are agreement, speak to your MP.
& try Brit Stops. It’s absolutely brilliant !

Ravenglass what a gem of a site.

Just stayed at the Ravenglass site and what a fabulous site. Dappled shade and pitches spread out. Wonderful warm welcome. Spotless facilities and just a short walk to the sea front and local amenities. Will definitely be back.

Totally Inflexible

This company have a totally inflexible approach to cancellations on health grounds. 20 days to booking so no refund (has to be 30) but can move to a different venue. If you are not fit for 1 venue you will not be it for another.

Arrived at Fairlight wood campsite…

Arrived at Fairlight wood campsite Sunday 4th May at 1.00pm after having booked a pitch with awning online. At reception I was told only one pitch available pitch 19 as site very busy, fair enough, drove to pitch which was very un level, even with my MH self levelling system at max and front wheels way in the air still not level.
Anyway after looking around site I noticed pitches 10 and 36 were coned off, loverly flat large pitches! Went back to reception and asked the warden why they were coned off, he said they keep them for large outfits, mainly caravans with large awnings and those without movers that have booked to arrive today. Again fair enough. But is it I ask? Yes a large caravan complete with large awning arrived on pitch 36 but nobody arrived on 10. How is it fair if you have a small outfit and end up with with a small uneven pitch and pay the same rate as someone with a very large outfit on a large perfectly level pitch?
Also those with large outfits can contact the site or may not even have to as there size is noted via their booking, suffer no pitch anxiety knowing they are guaranteed a perfect pitch what ever time they arrive.

Unfriendly

Pretty nice campsite but really unfriendly staff/organization. They are more focused on there own rules than helping a guest. So be ware, if you are running into some delay and are not checked in before 8 they will cancel your booking and leave you with no place to stay. There are instructions on what (not) to do on site everywhere aswel, very ridged. After 2 weeks of traveling and really good experiences and nice people this felt like a cold shower.

Useless for France sites

The Club's website shouts about its service for European caravanning. But it is affiliated with Allcamps, and the chances of finding French caravan pitches seem close to zero.
►►LATER I discovered after much chasing that in Allcamps search tool caravanners do NOT select the word "caravan" that is close to the top, but instead scroll down towards the bottom and choose "pitch".

"Caravan" means STATIC caravan !!!!

Wish I had looked at this site prior to…

Wish I had looked at this site prior to Joining, here's why ?
I joined and booked my first ,and last holiday to Braithwaite village, Lake District. I was quoted £1068 for two weeks in my own caravan. Contrast this with the Caravan and motorhome club at around the £300 plus mark.
I rang them to clarify the high cost and they could not have been less interested. As a result of which I cancelled membership with immediate effect.
There is no credible rivalry between the two organisations. Shocking!

Staff are rude and control freaks.

Staff are rude :
Please do not stay at any of there sites:
You will not be able to relax:
It is not the friendly camping site.
There is much better private camping sites‘that actually are pleasant staff, and walk around smiling rather than frowning .
It is a disgrace how they get away with this nasty behaviour towards customers?
Old fashioned fashioned push button showers that are cold most days.
Not allowed to even empty toilet ‘ if under cleaning 2 hr wait…!
Rules….Rules…Rules…. It hurts that this company still exists in today’s world..!!
Go elsewhere and you will be welcomed.

Related to Chertsey

Related to Chertsey site….Really disappointed with the camping and caravanning club this morning.
Last night about 630pm my dog was ill and was sick all over bedding. We went to the laundry facilities and popped some washing on thinking we can get everything washed and dried ready for bedtime.
Went back at 730 to retrieve the washing only
to find the block was locked up. WHY!! Why would they lock it. There was a sign but we had entered from the other side of facilities block so didn’t pass this sign and to be honest we are on holiday so was nice and relaxed and not looking at rules.
The wardens will have noticed there was an active load in the that machine when they locked up as it will have been on spin cycle at closing time but locked up anyway!! Quite astonishing they would do this.
We could have phoned the emergency number but did feel bad as we appreciate staff need a break and even if we had retrieved washing we would have needed to dry it. So we did without bedding all night and towels too and had an uncomfortable night rather than disturb staffs evening.
However the following morning at 830 am I went to retrieve washing and use dryer as we wanted to leave quite early. The block was still locked!! However now we were in social hours I phoned the number on reception only to be confronted with the most jobs worthy reply. She simply refused to open the block as it wasn’t 9am!!! I explained our washing was in there and we wanted to dry it quickly so we could leave but was told no we aren’t opening till 9am.
I was left stood outside waiting. I phoned customer services who agreed to phone staff on my behalf to ask them to open up. Even then it was 858 when a grumpy woman clearly fed up came to open up. Not a word did she say to me just grumply opened up and went away.
This is the friendly club. It was almost £50 to stay last night PLUS membership fee!!! Why why why do you treat customers like this? Would it have hurt to open up? Why did it need me to phone head office to get them to move.
I used to work in customer service back in the day and we were trained by this quote

‘A customer is not an inconvenience to your routine they are the purpose of it’

Really fed up with this type of narrow mindness

The app is rubbish

The app is rubbish. Get the paper copy. Events are missing on the app. If you try temporary holiday sites it bring up a few in Scotland from 2024. You have to then go on individual DA sites as nothing shows up until May.

Military camp nonsense

Military camp. What rubbish! A campsite must have some rules. Would you want to stay on a site with no rules.
I’ve been a member for many years and still find the C&CC, by far the best value for money especially if over 60. With the age concession. Private site charges and the MHC are far more expensive.
