Disgusting Experience – Our Privacy Violated and €1,200 Stolen
Our experience with Caleta Homes became one of the most disturbing and unacceptable situations we have ever faced while traveling. While we were at the beach, someone with access to the property entered our apartment and stole €1,200 from our personal belongings. The door was locked, there were no signs of forced entry, and the theft happened inside a supposedly “secure” accommodation.
This was not just a financial loss — it was a serious breach of safety. My wife spent time alone in that apartment. Knowing that someone was able to enter freely while she was there is terrifying. Anything could have happened.
The night after the theft, we were forced to stay in the same apartment because we had no alternative. We did not sleep at all. We wanted to return home immediately because we no longer felt safe in the property.
Caleta Homes responded politely at first, but when it came to taking responsibility for a security failure that occurred under their roof, they hid behind excuses. Their insurance “does not cover this”, they are “not responsible”, and their idea of compensation for a €1,200 loss was a small discount and free airport transfers — a gesture worth around €100.
In other words: a serious theft occurred inside their accommodation, our safety was compromised, and they offered nothing of real value to address it.
Caleta Homes may appear friendly and professional when everything is going well, but our experience showed the opposite. When a serious problem occurs — especially one involving guest safety and access control — they distance themselves completely.
We left Málaga with a financial loss, a violated sense of security, and the clear understanding that Caleta Homes does not stand behind their guests when it matters most.
I strongly advise future guests to reconsider staying here. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would.
