Fast response after reported gas smell

Fast response after reported gas smell.
Engineer Mark Bennett was very understanding of the elderley customer's needs and entered him on register for future visits.
Job completed on same day leaving Mr Shenton confident he was safe and very happy that the job was done well.

No choice on charging

British Gas called Cadent in June who said they needed to move a box from under a side porch that has been there 40 years and was fitted there by British Gas but was dangerous.
I’m a pensioner and they waited to send me a letter in December saying they will cut me off 6 days before Christmas giving me a bill for £700, nice enough to say I have no choice and can pay monthly £30 a month out my pension no choice at all. Disgusting service to a pensioner

Emergency response is amazing

From the initial call to National Grid to report the smell of gas inside our home, to the Cadent engineer attending, identifying the source of the leak and fitting a new meter, it took less than 2 hours to resolve. Jake was lovely, friendly, professional and explained the issue was a gas leak at the meter, explained what he would do to resolve and the next steps for me to report to our supplier. The service and your employees are a real credit to you. It is a scary and worrying situation to be in, having a gas leak inside your home but it was handled with care and urgency.

Excellent service

An engineer named Danny attended my emergency call out this evening. He arrived within an hour, was very polite and very proficient testing for leaks.
He ensured all gas appliances were reconnected and working before he left and his explanation of the issue was reassuring. I don't normally write reviews but this guy really impressed my wife and me and deserves to get credit for the excellent service he provided.

Amazing work man

The man who came out to my house was absolutely amazing, he went above and beyond what he was there to do, and helped me to get my boiler working even though he was there for the gas!! I live on in Burslem, and he is truly a credit to the company. Thankyou so very much

Bullies and threats of disconnection unless I accept new placement fo meterthier

Didnt realise bullying was per of the First Rate Service

There is new pipework being laid in my road and as part of that work, they need to lay new access pipes to my property and they want to relocate the meter.
They wanted to mole the new pipe in and we agreed the works plan.

No problem - the work has to be done and everything was agreed.

I asked for a letter confirming show me what they are responsible for etc and if they damage my property etc.

No letter. No surprise there then!

But today, purely by chance of us discussing giving me reasonable acess to my drive (could barely get s tiny car on there with them not providing the necessary ramps etc) it turns out the supervisor has changed our agreed plan saying that they only do the cheapest works and now he will decide where the meter goes and it will go in a spot that we have not agreed, and is both unsightly from the front of the house and would restric access to the side gate and back garden.

When I said that is not what we agreed and not acceptable, I was told that they are going to cut my gas off unless I agree to his decision.

I asked if he would accept this treatement on his property, he refused to answer - saying we only do what is the cheapest option - with GAS PIPES!

BTW - we are talking about moving the meter 1 metre as planned, which is about one meter from where they want to restrict access to my side gate/ginnel for garden access, bins etc

I had a someone from this company came…

I had a someone from this company came to me as thay needed cut gas of as there was a leak. Thay offered me 30 food vouchers and I thought that was good. . That was a very nice a kind thing to do I’ve said I’d pass it over to help other ppl . And it ended up 60 thay gave me so thank you very much

Disgraceful company

Cadent came this morning to cut off the gas supply to an empty property next door. They cut off our gas supply, spent hours banging around in our property and left us without gas until an engineer could come to purge the system. Then they went to thw wrong address and cancelled job. After 1 hour on phone, promised to come within 4 hours, then cancelled again. We are two over 60’s who have had no heating or hot water all day and been stressed all day. This wasnt even for our property and we have been treated DISGRACEFULLY. Claim for compensation has been made. DO NOT TRUST CADENT.

Workers idle on the street

I have called Cadent 3 times to complain about workers idling in their vans for very long periods of time outside my house (up to 90 minutes, typically starting at around 6am). Each time, the company has sent someone to knock on my door and tell me they will deal with it - but the workers keep idling on the street, causing noise and air pollution.

Disappointed

I was left disappointed about the treatment I received from 27-29 October. I was told on 27 October that my gas would be turned off on 28 October for a few hours in the afternoon - someone would have to come into the house to turn it back on. I ensured I was available however nothing happened. I had to go out on the afternoon of 29 October- nothing happened during the morning - but I got home at 5.00 to find my gas had been turned off and all the workers had disappeared. I called the emergency number you provided and was told that all the engineers were busy on call outs in Staines/Slough - they would TRY and get to me. Was I supposed to go all night without gas?

I am a vulnerable pensioner and I am horrified that this was allowed to happen - and probably happens often - surely one worker should have been left on duty - it was only 5.00?

Amazing workers

Had a visit from lee downie today , made me feel very safe and gave me some great advice. Reassuring me the whole time that there was not a gas leak and done all the correct checks, worn shoe protectors while in my home, also Reassuring me that even though I didnt have a gas leak was better safe than sorry and to always call if any doubts 10/10 !

5 star ANDY!

I called Cadent after thinking I could smell gas in my property. Andy arrived within the hour — in the very early hours of the morning — and immediately put me at ease. He introduced himself clearly, checked the house, neighbouring properties, and the gas meter thoroughly — twice — before leaving.
Andy took real care to explain everything, offered great recommendations for carbon monoxide alarms, and reassured me that I was safe. His professionalism, calm manner, and genuine concern made a stressful situation so much easier.
An absolute credit to the team — thank you, Andy!

Ahead of their arrival we were supplied with a leaflet of what to expect.
None of the promises were adhered to (2 days written notice when access required - only happened once note through the door 12 hours before and they failed to turn up, the rest of the time they knocked in the hope that you were in).
Total lack of courtesy to residents, walking mud in, holding conversations with each other after you had answered the door and expecting you to stand there until you were ready.
Leaflets indicate that they expect you to take holidays to ensure they can access your property!
When they say they will return in 15 mins, - add a few hours.
A very young team of employees from the north easr - lacking a mature team leader.

All work carried out on my house the…

All work carried out on my house the first guys who moved gas meter position was all good the trouble is getting the make good jobs done pipe work in cupboard messy and not removed excess pipes electric bonding still not finished on mine or neighbours house drive walk way still not cleaned and treading mud In house as a disabled person I am looking at paying for the works to be done I will be out of pocket

As expected a copy and paste reply bad manners and disrespectful from a company who only wants money perhaps a formal complaint to the local mp will help

Overall Rubbish Experience - They Dont Care

Cadent are a mixed experience.
They replaced the pipes and moved our meter outside. The senior supervising team seemed good. Provided free heaters and hot plates so we weren't without heat or cooking means during works.
The guys on the ground not as good. Always trying to trick us into agreeing to do the work in a way that was easier for them rather than how it would be better for us. And the way they jack hammered the concrete patterened driveway unnecessarily was shockingly sloppy. Threw away the bolt ground locking parts and also the vibrations on pavement shifted a portion of our front out driveway, sinking it a little due to the weight of our parked car on it and opening the expansion joint seals. Denied responsibility so I will end up fixing it myself best I can. Cracked the perimeter wall mortar too.
So pretty poor experience really.

Update: Also discovere dthey had damage two of the front garden trees with their grapple truck and hid the damage so it looked like the branches had just been pulled out. Absolite joke of a company. and they didnt fix the driveway they damaged or even pay for the new sealant for the dislodged joints silicone.

Rude and aggressive

This company is currently replacing gas mains. Received a note to say that supply would be cut off for a day.
Later stopped by an employee who asked to enter, without providing ID.
Subsequently left without supply for four days
While work was being carried out I was asked to dig up a bush, that had already trimmed back.
The staff member was verbally aggressive, complaining he not viewed the gas meter earler. This was irrelevant as I would not have remained at home for them to complete the work. Needing to purchase more gravel after drive was dug up
