Wonderful community

What a fabulous idea and run by the kindest people. I sadly had to give up walking my beautiful borrowed dog Teddy due to a health condition. I miss him dearly. Couldn’t have my own dog so this was the perfect solution.

I absolutely love Borrow My Doggy

I absolutely love Borrow My Doggy! I'm not able to have my own dog and came across BMD. It took me a while to sign up thinking it would probably be a waste of time but it's been the best thing I've done. I've now been borrowing Bella twice a week for over three years and I have to admit it's mutual love. I've also made a great friend in Bella's owner which is a bonus. BMD also gives me assurance that if anything goes wrong while I have Bella I am covered with their insurance. Happiness all round!

Too follow on from my 1st review.

My first review was based on my initial experience of joining this company,after posting it .I was contacted by jess whodid apologise for my bad experience.
The problem which i still say was not a typo or wrong e-mail address has been rectified . I am happy to do another review further down the line if everything goes well.Hopefully a more positive one.

Don't waste your time or build up your hopes for replies

A VERY DISAPPOINTING ORGANISATION AND SO CALLED DOG LOVERS!!!!!!!!
I HAVE PUT OUT 25 PLUS MESSAGES TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO CLAIM TO LOVE DOGS AND OFFER THEIR SERVICES AND HAVE HAD JUST ONE REPLY FROM A GENUINE CARING LADY.

WHAT SORT OF ORGANISATION IS THIS? THEY CHARGE £48 FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF DISAPPOINTMENT AND ENTICING
TIME WASTERS WHO CAN'T EVEN BE BOTHERED OR HAVE THE DECENCY TO REPLY

AN ABSOLUTE RUBBISH COMPANY WHO DON'T CHASE UP THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WANNABEE HELPERS. A TOTAL RIP OFF TOO!!!!!!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND WHATSOEVER.

We’re really sorry to hear your experience has been so disappointing, we absolutely understand how frustrating it can feel when you’re reaching out and not receiving the responses you’d hoped for.

BorrowMyDoggy connects dog owners with local dog-loving borrowers, who are volunteers from the community, who offer their time to help care for dogs simply because they love being around them. Borrowers do this for free, in their spare time, so availability and responsiveness can vary from person to person.

It’s also worth noting that only Premium borrowers are able to reply to messages. If you've contacted mostly Basic members, they may not be able to respond unless they upgrade. That said, we do send out notifications and follow-ups to borrowers who haven’t replied yet, so there’s still a chance you may hear back from more people soon.

We’ve sent a request via Trustpilot for your account details so we can look into this further for you. Our help team is here to support all our members in finding the right matches, and we’d really like to help turn things around.

Didn't work for me

I got one contact and even though we got on well and I looked after the dog for a few hours never heard anymore. I think they were just testing it out and didn't really need anyone as they had family who looked after the dog. I found only people who were going on holiday contacted me to save money on kennel fees - even though I had put in my preference I did not do holidays. Watch out as the membership has an automatic renewal and I have just found out and have now ended my membership.

Complete Scam

I would not recommend this service. In over a year, I have only had one response, despite contacting many profiles. Most don’t reply at all apart from the odd one saying they're not available!

I’ve contacted BorrowMyDoggy several times (including twice this month) but haven’t received any acknowledgement. On the occasions they did reply in the past, the profiles they suggested weren’t relevant — for example, cat owners (even though I explained my dog cannot be around cats) or people only available at times I’d said wouldn’t work.

I’ve also noticed that other members have left reviews with the same complaints, but the company seems to give the same generic responses without resolving the issues. My biggest frustration is that they no longer reply to emails at all, which leaves members with no support and no way to request a refund.

I paid £48 for a membership and feel I’ve had no value from it. Based on my experience, this service has not delivered what it promises.
One woman wrote to me saying she was interested but then complained she'd just had a dog who had separation anxiety and couldn't be left in her house alone for the day etc..isn't the point of BMD to offer companionship?!

Total joke of a company.

Just the best service for dog's and owners

Communication is excellent ,providing me with updates on borrowers in my area .The cost of £50 a year is such good value for what you get back .The borrowers I have connected with have all bean great with my little dog .He has had just the best time . I will certainly be continuing my membership .

BorrowMyDoggy has brought us so much joy


I only discovered BorrowMyDoggy recently through a Google search, and I must say it’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. 🐶 It hasn’t just helped us as a family — giving our children the joy of walking and playing with a dog — but it’s also been a lovely way to support the dog’s owner too. It feels great to give something back to the community while creating special memories together. Highly recommend this scheme!

Ex members still being listed.

After expressing my disappointment with this company, I let my membership expire.

I did this partly because I found that they inflate their website’s membership figures by ‘suggesting’ that there are Many, many more active members (potential walkers or owners) available in any particular area than there actually are.

Note: You can become a listed ‘member’ (?) without subscribing - but you cannot communicate with one another until you pay a membership fee and become a Full member.

So, be aware, the profiles posted are also made up of large numbers of potentially interested people who sign up as Non-Subscription members. People (members) who cannot communicate with you.

What I have just learned today however is, Ex-Members, like myself REMAIN listed on their site. We don’t have our profiles removed and are simply blocked from entering into dialogue with any other members, regardless of their subscription status.

This only came to light when they emailed me today to notify me of someone who had looked at my profile.

This act is clearly designed to tempt me into re-subscribing, or to massage their membership numbers for my area, or entice more unsubscribed members to pay up for Full membership communication privileges.

UPDATE:

As their reply clearly states that they keep you listed unless YOU ask to be removed. Sounds a bit dodgy to me and a clear attempt to keep up the pretence of a high membership level of active members.

All members can sign up for free to explore the community and check if there are suitable matches in their area before committing to a membership. You can also tailor your search by filtering for Premium members only, and even sort results by most active, newest, or recently updated profiles.

Communication is only possible once both parties have completed their safety checks and activated a Premium membership. The membership fee helps us keep the community safe and well-supported, it covers things like safety checks, insurance, and access to our 24/7 vet line.

Once a Premium membership expires, members have the option to either close their account or keep it open for future use. Many choose to stay listed and simply mark their profile as ‘not currently looking for a match,’ which removes it from the search results but keeps their details saved, handy for reactivating down the line without needing to start from scratch.

If you'd prefer your profile to be completely removed from the site, just let us know at woofwoof@borrowmydoggy.com
and we'll take care of that right away.

I’m really happy I joined…

I’m really happy I joined BorrowMyDoggy- I have been able to connect with doggies in my local area for walks that are flexible and can fit in with my life and the owners who are looking for someone to walk their dogs- fantastic, as I miss having my own dogs but cannot have my own dog at the moment so I still get the enjoyment of a dogs company, and they get some lovely walks- win win 👍

I don't know what i would do without…

I don't know what i would do without Borrow My Doggie. I am a disabled pensioners and unable to walk him myself. I have had some lovely borrowers. I had the same one for 6 months and they both got on so well. The lady decided to buy her own dog so we have gone back to the site to look for new ones. I am sure we will be lucky, So many caring people on this site and local which is a really big help. I can highly recommend this site to anyone else who needs help walking their dogs.

Disappointed fabulous idea but paid my £48 and so far not really had any takers for someone to borrow my dog think this is a waste of money. Perhaps if we pay people can only be on the site that are serious and answer your messages and agree to me and not waste your time

Four legged therapy

I was missing our elderly spaniel so much but wasn't ready to take on another dog. I found a lovely owner needing help with her dog while recuperating from an op. It's helped us both and the app was easy to navigate

A complete waste of time and money

In my experience, one paw print away from a scam. As a dog owner, you are invited to join on a promise of being connected to people who have joined to borrow dogs. You provide photos and a profile. You are notified of borrowers in your area.
Here’s the catch. Borrowers need to also be premium members to see messages from dog owners. So, my premium membership ‘benefits’ are totally dependent on borrowers’ also paying for premium membership - there are unsurprisingly, very few.
I would not recommend Borrow My Doggy. You’d have better luck putting an advert out on social media.

Excellent experience

Excellent experience! Found a darling little furry girl with a lovely female owner … we got on as soon as we met, live near each other, have already been out once …. it felt sooooo good! This gorgeous little furry girl is such a dream to be in the company of!!

BorrowMyDoggy is the most incredible website!…

BorrowMyDoggy is the most incredible concept and they should be taking it globally!

My husband worked from home, looking after our Cavapoochon and my office is 20 minutes away, when circumstances suddenly changed. He is no longer working from home which caused a big problem as we didn't want our dog to be on his own for 8 hours! Professional dog sitters were a fortune - all dog care options are - so we decided to try using BorrowMyDoggy.

We were very worried at first but this platform allows you to actually meet the person who is interested in looking after your pet at their home. My husband and I along with our dog met two people. It was important for us to go to see their home. Not ours. One lady had lost her dog a year ago and wanted company but not the responsibility of having a dog full time and the other was studying and also used to have a dog and wanted a cuddly friend that she could walk and play with.

I am looking at two or three people to look after our dog during the week. I didn't want to leave my key with strangers to pick up my dog, so the option of somebody coming in the middle of the day to walk him did not work for us.The only way this would work for us was for them to have him for 8 hours. That's why I have more than one person taking care of him. I drop him off before I go to work and pick him up on the way home. He has been cared for and walked and I leave a bed basket and food with bowls for water together with toys.

We have just joined and the website is user friendly.

So yes, I would highly recommend this site but it is important that the person you choose you properly interview.
