Very poor service and communication

Very poor service and communication

I ordered a pair of Birkenstocks for my daughter’s birthday and decided to treat myself to a pair as well. The company took my money and confirmed both pairs were on the way. Six days later, my pair arrived — but my daughter’s did not.

When I phoned and emailed to find out what had happened, I was told the missing pair was out of stock and had been cancelled — yet no one had informed me, and no refund had been issued until I chased it up myself.

My daughter didn’t get her birthday present, and I would never have ordered the second pair if I’d known the first was unavailable. I also contacted customer service to raise my concerns but received no reply.

Extremely disappointing experience and very poor communication.

Rubbish

Delivery was a catalogue of errors, never received the shoes. Was promised a call back from customer service. They never bothered calling. Won’t buy from Birkenstock again.

Ordered a pair of Birkenstocks for my…

Ordered a pair of Birkenstocks for my wives birthday which has now passed due to the incompetence of the courier service they use (Evri). When I spoke with customer service they told me that they cannot do anything until the courier does not update for 3 or more days. This is obviously known by Evri who every 3 days make an update to state they have the item and will be with you soon therefore Birkenstock will do nothing about it. Again asked for a refund and was told the same regurgitated waffle about they can do nothing if an update has been made within their 3 day policy …. I am currently waiting 2 weeks and as of yet have no clue where my package is and both Evri and Birkenstock are doing nothing about it … how is this even legal … avoid ordering from Birkenstock on line !!! Wish I had have read these reviews before I ordered

Dreadful service and I would never have ordered if I’d read the reviews first - lesson learned! Why on earth Birkenstock are using Evri as their chosen courier is beyond me - my shoes were dispatched promptly but sat in an Evri warehouse, without moving, for almost a week. I raised this with Birkenstock who raised a report with Evri - Evri then had 3 days to locate my parcel before Birkenstock would issue a refund - on the LAST day, my parcel MIRACULOUSLY was located and actually moved. Delivery took so long and I was so unimpressed with the whole process, I decided to return my shoes out of principle - only to experience the same useless service in reverse! Parcel went awol with Evri - again - raised it with Birkenstock, who raised a report with Evri etc etc etc….in the end I rang Birkenstock (for the umpteenth time) and said I was reporting them to Trading Standards - they issued a refund then & there on the phone. I received a confirmation email to say that my refund had been processed - that was over a week ago and I STILL HAVE NOT HAD MY MONEY BACK!!! Disgusting service from beginning to end - except 6 weeks on and it’s still not the end! Having now read the reviews, I see there are numerous other customers who have had the same experience. AVOID buying from Birkenstock direct and buy elsewhere

Helped make the return possible for a remote location

I needed to return some sandals as too small. The nearest Evri drop point is over 100 miles. They quickly understood and were happy to extend the return window for me. I got a speedy refund after that. This makes me more confident on using them again. Another pair of sandals were a perfect fit and great return to Birks after a decade away

Horrific Customer Service

This year alone I purchased 8 pairs of shoes from Birkenstock equaling over $1400. When one pair didn’t fit right, and I was out of the country on a trip I had bought them for and thus, narrowly missed being able to return within the 30 day window, I reached out to customer service expecting they would allow a one time courtesy return. They did not.
After multiple emails back and forth and asking them to escalate the issue to their supervisor, they just said, nope. Sorry. I had worn the boots twice and the leather was slightly creased, as leather will do, and they refused to make an exception.
I find this appalling and am planning to write as many poor reviews as I can because they need to change their customer service policies to be less rigid and more flexible for loyal (or previously loyal in my case as I won’t be buying anymore shoes from them) customers. Not ok Birkenstock.

Ordered a pair online

Ordered a pair online, waited a week or so when I decided to get in touch with customer service. They've looked into my case and said evri messed up my order. I got fed up waiting so I asked for a refund which they had sorted out for me. Not sure how much Birkenstock has control over delivery companies but perhaps would be good idea to take in other options other than evri. In the meantime I'd recommend buyers to shop in stores rather than online to avoid dissapointment.

Dreadful Service

I purchased a pair of boots for £200 and paid by card. When I realised that they use Evri, I requested they use a more effective delivery service. They said that they couldn't. Later in the day, Birkenstock contacted me by email to say that they had cancelled the order due to "technical issues". I requested my £200 refund and they said that I am not able to cancel my order. I advised them that it was Birkenstock who had cancelled it, not me. They then said that "in that case, you SHOULD receive a refund in 8 working days". I am appalled that this company cancelled my order, but that I have to gain credit card interest for 8 working days whilst they sort out their own error. Their chat "help" was also abysmal, continually missing the point and advising me that I was not allowed to cancel as per their policy guidelines. I would never shop from them again ....

Nice shoes but unable to deliver items

Nice shoes but unable to deliver items. In the UK Birkenstock chooses to use the worst delivery company even known - Evri. Parcels are not delivered, they don't even attempt to deliver, items just sit on trucks or on depots for days, can't get any information out of Evri or Birkenstock then have to enter into the looooong process to get a refund. I would say that Birkenstock are not capable of managing a DTC business and they should focus on wholesale and leaving the retailing to the pros

Birks. No longer what we grew up with

So I bought my son a pair of birks because I grew up with them and knew the quality. Unfortunately they are not the same and it makes me sad.

After emailing them pictures and receipts they determined my sons sandals would not be qualified for any warranty.

Mind you he had them for a total of 5 months and they started to fall apart.

They must have decided to get away from quality and just sell based on their name. Very disappointing and will have to find a new brand for my son.

I know I’m just one family, but seeing other reviews really stating the same thing I’m saddened to say they are not the birks we grew up with. .

Side note my son collects sneakers and treats well. These just began to fall apart.

Great Service perfect fit

Simple, straightforward instructions to measure my feet and easy to place the order.

Items were delivered on the agreed date.
These are my first pair of clogs, which I bought from Birkenstock through Amazon. This was the first time buying directly.
The clogs are a perfect fit.

Absolutely shocking customer service!

Absolutely shocking customer service, in all my years of working in retail and customer service across several brands of all sizes, and as a general consumer - I’ve never known a customer service department to be so useless.

They can’t even amend or update a delivery address for an order that was placed just minutes prior to contacting them because upon receiving confirmation my delivery address had not pulled through correctly which resulted in my previous order that had the same issue being unable to be delivered and returned back to them. I have only ever had this experience using their platform checking out with Apple Pay, as such it wasn’t even that I had made an error in the booking process.

Their excuse is it’s our policy - but for a company worth $7billion, that is just awful. The bare minimum for any company I have bought or worked for they have the powers to amend within at least an hour of receiving the order.

In addition to that they have zero retention strategy to even remotely try and salvage the relationship with the customer. Quite clear they simply do not care about their brand image or customer experience.

I’ll be taking my business elsewhere

Terrible quality and service

Purchased a pair of professional Birkenstock Boston clogs from a catering equipment supplier in May’25, it’s now early October’25 and they require a replacement sole - which is not what is expected from a premium priced product.

Customer service was unhelpful and suggested looking for a company that repairs them online - costs £50 a pair.

Unjust and unhelpful.

Would never recommend or purchase again.
