Call to canceled service on the end of current plan.
I call compony end of November or beginning off December to stop them service on the end of December because my current plan will expired and new plan was more expensive. but to my surprise I see on my bill they continued to them service and charge me all month of January . I call them times ,talk to the manager ask them to check , but they keep lying I did not cancel service even I call then before my current plan expired . Very desponded ! they should record conversation and investigate but they did not.
Beware.....
Beware.....after contract ran u they doubled my rate and charged a monthly service fee. I offered to stay with them another 12 months if they would re-adjust the rate on the past months bill that they over charged me by $188 and they offered me $50. I guess keeping customers is not a priority to them only screwing over customers.
Another Cowboy Operation.
Shameful just look at all the negative reviews 53%!
Avoid at all costs as their the same cowboy operation as Project Solar.
SSE - Avoid!
SSE - I have a six year old child in the house. We are on a smart meter. The last two top ups have not worked. Luckily the first time around my husband was home and called them, although in the past two years, since we lived here, I have spoken to them twice, no problem. Yesterday I spent 50 minutes on the phone to them, the first time I got hung up on after a 30 minute wait, the second time no one picked up. Then came a voice message, saying they shut early. The money comes from my account. Today I got told they won't speak to me, because supposedly I am not authorized?! Never seemed a problem before over the last two years! Put. The. Money. On. My. Meter. So. I. Can. Care. For. My. Daughter. Properly!!! Shocking... so angry.
Hi bulb is a very expensive company…
Hi bulb is a very expensive company they just go into your bank without discussion help themselves without discussion. They over charge on gas and Electric. I would not recommend them very poor customer service.
Utilita Promise the World and Fail
About the middle of October 2020. We had a rep from Utilita knock on our door. He asked if we would be interested in getting smart meters fitted without any standing charge on them. We agreed it would be a good idea. He told have us all the sales pitch. Smart meters could be fitted and no standing charge blah blah blah. We signed up thinking things were going to be ok. We had some sales info to welcome us as a new customer. The letter told us that our service would be transferred over on the second. We received a letter on the Saturday 31st October 2020. It said we needed to contact Utilita to arrange a date for the smart meters fitting. I rang customer services and after being put on hold three times and clocking up 1hr 15mins on the phone. We were told you cannot have any smart meters we don't have any in stock. I told the company we had been Miss sold an agreement and told them we had been lied to. The polite useless lady told me that we had not been strictly lied to. What else would you call it ? Maybe they didn't lie. But they were not honest with us and tell us all the facts. Now we are determined to go back to our old supplier British Gas. We have never had a problem with them. You can't blame us for trying to save some money. But on this occasion we have shot ourselves in the feet. At least British Gas are contactable and turn up when they say they are coming. Be warned. When the Utilita man calls at your door and promises you the world tell him to politely go away. Enough said on this matter.
Wanted switch from Better Energy to…
Wanted switch from Better Energy to EON. 3 days before the swtich Better Energy wrote to let me they are leaving the energy market and transferring to PFP. Its now 3 months later and EON have not transferred fully. PFP Energy have no record of my account and Better Energy have gone quiet on the £400 in credit in my accout at the point of the switch. Zero star if possible would have been my preferred rating.
Transition has not run as it should
Was auto transferred from Better Energy to PFP on 17th Dec 2019 and immediately started a switch to SO which took effect 7th Jan 2020 as PFP's tariffs were much higher. Have bills from PFP since 17th Dec but now they are telling me I owe them money and will instigate debt collection. No final bills received from Better. Even after calculating charges for all gas used since the last bill of 1st Nov 2019 I have about £100 surplus from existing credit with Better and DD payments up to 9th Jan that were still showing to Better although should be in PFPs account. The DDs were meant to change name from 9th Feb according to PFP's help pages. Have filled in a contact form and waiting for PFP's response.
Update 04/03/2020: PFP have dropped the debt chasing after I sent them the last bill I had from Better Energy in Nov 2019, but have now just passed the buck to me saying I have to chase Better Energy for the closing statement due on 17 Dec 2019 so they can then sort out the credit I am due back. Not holding my breath on the requests I have made.

Direct Debit payments taken after moving to another supplier
I switched from Better Energy in December. I'm still awaiting a closing statement. On checking my bank statement I found they took two monthly direct debit payments after I switched. Together with the credit payments due at the time I switched, I am owed around £200.
I'm unable to get any response from Better Energy either by email or by phone. I have asked my bank to refund the two unauthorised direct debit payments, but that will still leave me out of pocket.
Ofgem should not be licensing energy suppliers without adequate financial guarantees.
SSE AVOID THEY ARE APPALLINGLY BAD
SSE as an energy provider are appalling DO NOT GO NEAR
I asked them twice to increase my payments which they failed to do which led me to owe them money and I had to increase my payment further!!! I left them in November and they are saying I owe them money!!!! They do not put you through to a complaint dept and they tell lies saying they tried to call you with no calls being made
Their boiler cover is also a joke terrible engineers with no clue how to fix a boiler they condemned it with no explanation of what was needed and walked out leaving me in January with no heating said I would get a call later which never happened and into next day still no phone call 😡 I called them and was told they couldn’t get the parts I asked why they had not informed me about this knowing I was an emergency and they had no reason USELESS ORGANISATION AVOID
I am also owed £231.62 which I've been…
I am also owed £231.62 which I've been chasing relentlessly since 6th December. The co was taking their readings from the wrong meter. Mandy in Customer Services advised it will be dealt with promptly but like all the other messages below, it hasn't, no one is returning calls. I have provided all the information they requested, the photo proof etc. Absolute disgrace.
Better Energy is no longer a gas supplier, but PFP Energy and the Regulator are also at fault in the way they have allowed this mess to occur
On 10 December Better Energy e mailed customers to say they were transferring their business to PFP Energy. Unfortunately my mother was in the process of a switch from Better Energy to a new gas supplier when she got this e mail and therefore I feared that things would get complicated. I have since spoken to both Better Energy (who are now extremely difficult to get hold of on the phone) and PFP and been told slightly different stories each time I have spoken to them. My mother eventually changed gas supplier on 28 December and was asked to pay 2 months' payments upfront by the new supplier but currently has what I have estimated to be about 2 months of payments in credit with Better Energy as at the transfer date. The new supplier has sent them the meter readings at the transfer date but Better Energy haven't raised a final invoice and they also didn't send an invoice following their last meter reading request (in early December). PFP Energy now tell me that Better Energy have only just started sending the first batch of better Energy customer details to them (the first batch of 500, out of a total of about 6000 customers). I don't think this is acceptable, especially for customers who have already moved to other and are due a substantial refund. Unfortunately it seems that the only way of trying to address this problem is to complain to PFP Energy who are now, apparently, responsible for making all the refunds that are due. I think that customers have been let down by Better energy and PFP Energy and the Energy Regulator is also to blame for allowing this to happen without ensuring that things are done properly
I can confirm Better Energy are in…
I can confirm Better Energy are in administration and are being transferred to PFP energy based in preston. All customers are being informed and PFP Energy are supposed to be paying out any money owed too. Latest contact with them on 10th Jan on 01772395777 suggests they are still awaiting transfer of details. I suggest anyone owed money rings PFP Enerhy direct.
Hope this helps!. Better Energy lied to me for months and gave endless excuses once the started answering the phones that is.
Must have gone bust
They have definitely gone under. Since the 8th November I have been requesting the £152 credit they owe me. I was told 10 days until it reached my account. Nothing happened. I emailed them was told they were having problems with their payment system (as if). That was ongoing for weeks, must be a one way system. Tried to call, always says operators are busy. Not sure how I will get my money back. Is almost 8 weeks so I think the ombudsman can help.
If you are with this company then switch asap and if not don’t join! I was shocked to see on their website they have rates for 2020!
Better Energy have not paid my £53.33…
Better Energy have not paid my £53.33 credit despite leaving them about 2 months ago and having my closing bill produced over a month ago.
Tried to call them without luck, so knew something was up as previously contacting customer support had been easy.
Finally got through to someone today via email who advised they are going into administration. Ofgem will then set a supplier of last resort who you’ll have to deal with to get your money back which is very disappointing but I feel for the people that they lost their job.
However the site is full operational and people probably can switch to BE without knowing anything about the ceasing of business as there is no announcement by BE. Even the comparison sites still prompt you to switch to BE.
Better Energy Going into Administration
BE have not paid my £267 credit despite leaving them 2 months ago and having my closing bill produced over a month ago.

I was just sad for the lady on the phone. My £267 refund would be delayed by some months, but she was losing her job.
Basic interface, too high direct debit and problems switching away
My dealings with customer service have been very indifferent and mirror some of the problems other people have had.
First, there is a fairly basic internet interface, in fact not really an interface. It's easy to supply a reading but you rely on quarterly bills sent by email to see where you are up to in payments.
I was forecast to go a lot into credit and had some discussion with them to lower the direct debit. I had to exert our rights to get a refund. They wanted the "recommended" 2-3 months in credit and a higher monthly direct debit, more than 1/12 of your estimated use. I can do the maths, thanks.
Now, having switched away, two months on they have not produced a final bill and, surprise, we are one month in credit. I have not yet been refunded.
Avoid but if with them don’t pay more than your energy use
Same as the reviewer below, I left better energy with over £700 in credit in October 2019.
2 weeks ago (end of November 2019) I did get through to a rude advisor who stated they were having processing issues and did not know when it would be resolved. Since then the phone lines are constantly busy. In reality I reckon no one is working there any longer and it’s a answering service on loop - all voice message are deleted once full hence the busy tone.
Found out on companies house that Better Energy have a debenture with Lloyd’s bank. Reckon they have left hundreds of customers out of pocket deliberately to hold on to any extra cash.
I would recommend everyone with better energy to switch. Anyone in my position should contact Ofgem at the earliest opportunity - complain, wait for response within 8 weeks but if no response forward the issue to Ofgem (if better energy even exist by then!).
Ofgem should introduce a new regulation that when customers in credit wish to switch supplier that the credit is also transferred to the new supplier.
In future I will demand any credit back immediately rather than wait until the end of the contract - I recommend everyone else do the same. Suppliers will give you a speech to leave it with them but it’s your money so demand it back if you’re in credit. I regret I didn’t, probably like many other better energy customers.
Make sure your direct debit is cancelled when you leave Better Energy!
Better Energy did not cancel my direct debit when my contract ended and now owes me over £750. I was told it would take 10 days to process the refund but that was almost 4 weeks ago.
Now it is impossible to get through on the phone. It is either "busy" or "all our operators are busy".
Is Better Energy going broke?
