Derek the health and safety guy, thank you

I dropped my dad off at airport walked him inside, got a phone call that my son had falling of his scooter back home he's only 14 oops. He'd had been brought off in an ambulance to Cavan hospital, so I needed to get out of car park my card wouldn't work. I had no way to get out of car park so I asked for help and this amazing man (handsome man) called Derek health and safety gave me his paid ticket so I could get home to my son. Thank you Derek . Xx (my son is fine a bit sore gash on head. A very lucky child. )

This place is a disgrace

This place is a disgrace!
Long queues for check in then for security, followed by a chaotic eating area, tables not cleared while staff were playing with their phones long queues with only 1 person serving.

Total disgrace again

Arrived back from Gran Canaria at 1.15am Monday morning . Waited 45 minutes on luggage . What is the problem .. this is time and time again waiting in luggage and then charged extra at parking for over the allocated time . Total shambles .. is there a manager at all in Belfast International to sort anything ? Also the toilets are a disgrace too ..never been to worse .

No gluten free sandwiches on arrival

While there may be some options for gluten free / vegetarian food ie sandwiches in the departures lounge, there are never these options in arrivals. Even in the check in hall it's over priced crisps and chocolate. Not good at all when this could be easily remedied. And still the staff are always bemused at my annoyance.

Super long baggage wait times

Landed and this time we flew through passport control for a change, but had to wait well over 30minutes for baggage to be available. It was particularly tough for families with young children. This is not the first experience with long waits and seems to be a theme for Belfast. It’s a simple fix that would go a long way for improving the traveller experience.

Travelled on an early morning flight…

Travelled on an early morning flight from BIA. From start to end you couldn't fault the airport. Check in, in under 3mins. Flight to Reus was at 6.55 and there was loads of other flights before and straight after ours so was expecting a busy airport. Airport security in under 40 seconds (priorty lane). Looked at the normal que to and dispite being really busy people was through in less than a couple of mins. Staff from check in, airport direct staff, security was super friendly and helpful. Arrived back into the airport and flight landed at 1.25pm, we were out of the airport by 1.45pm. Customs was less than 20 seconds and custom staff were super friendly too! Waited less than 9mins from our luggage. Given the construction and improvement works in the airport it was a smooth travel journey. The airport deserves praise, 5 deserved stars.

We have just returned from a lovely…

We have just returned from a lovely family holiday, but and to wait close to 1 hour for baggage. Absolutely ridiculous to wait so long ,especially as so many families had young children to try to keep amused. First time using this airport in about 15 years, now I know why I prefer to go to Dublin.

I fly into BIA several times a year and I’m always amazed at how dated it is. I had a drink in the bar and all the tables were covered in dirty glasses and I decided that I would not eat there due to the mess front of house. Yes I’m a smoker and went use the smoking area. Again as always this was filthy ( people just don’t care and have little respect and put there cigarette ends on the floor and although there are 4 ashtrays which had been emptied recently the area around the metal fencing was rammed with discarded butts. This is not the staff’s fault but thoughtless people who don’t value their surroundings but I’m sure the airport could clean the area more often. If they take pride in their surroundings hopefully people will step up and use the ashtrays.

Poor in comparison

First, BIA is a relatively small airport with not a hectic plane schedule so it normally doesn't feel overly crowded. That said, it is dirty, tired looking, with what must be the slowest and most poorly manned security area. It is functional, but really an embarrassment to everyone in NI. I dread having to use it during the summer holiday period when it has more footfall.

Priority security is an absolute joke

Priority security is an absolute joke. I'm through it about once a month and the security guards all seem to have a chip in their shoulder, as they intentionally seem to keep the lines longer for Priority than for "normal ". I understand that you make the most use of all the lanes and that if Priority is not busy, you redirect people to it. But they seem to take great joy in making sure that those who have paid for Priority endure longer queues - for example, today, the security guard kept redirecting people from the normal queue so that there were always at least 25 - 30 people in the Priority queue, with one lane open, meaning anyone coming through actual Priority is at the end of a long queue, against about 20 - 25 people in the non priority queue with at least 2 and I think 3 lanes open. And he wouldn't let Priority people move into the normal queue, as a few tried to when they saw how much longer they would have to wait. Belfast International - check your cameras if you don't believe me - 3.50ish pm on Sunday 17th. My advice? Save your money, they are already fleecing you for drop off charges and are also now charging you to queue longer for security (this is not a one off, this is at least the third time I have personal experience, which is why I'm now writing a review).

The tannoy system is the worst I have…

The tannoy system is the worst I have ever heard in an airport...... a scouser 8 pints deep would be easier to understand. Not only is is completely inaudible but I would say that it offers a great opportunity for claims against the airport for missing a flight, especially if you have poor vision..... perhaps a couple of law suits would encourage them to fix it.

Wow... Shocking!!

Wow.... How an airport stoop so low??? Some staff here are appalling... Have no personality and seem to have no skills in communication or customer skills... I really dont understand... Are we on the brink of the apocalypse if everyone seems to be so mean these days??? I dont get it at all ... Its really... Really bad... Get told a bag been taken away with food... Phone charger and cables.... and then none of the staff i asked helped or did a thing about it.... Seemed to not want to be there... Seemed they hate life... Hate people and hate having a beating heart.... Then why be there if you hate yourself so much??? Just to be told oh nothing can be done .. oh... Nothing can be done... How far in the world would we get if everyone said it csn be done?? Wed be in the stone age still if that were the case...

Superb assistance

I got my car caught on a small steel spike while parking…maintenance staff came to my assistance and actually lifted the car off the spike which saved me a huge bill in car repair…and all done in a very cheerful way.

Accessible and parent friendly

Looking at the other reviews this was not my experience. Belfast was great for me travelling with my mother needing special assistance and my 3yo. There are very few steps, where there are there are lifts. The cafe has table ordering and robots to bring you food and drink. I was sped through check-in, security, and boarding. Lifts were working, trolleys are free for bags, and staff were kind to us all. The security even apologised for pouring away my daughter’s water I forgot to dispose of, then told me where I could get a free refill. I just need to work out how to get here by avoiding Bristol airport!
