Useful Platform, But Unfair Funeral Pricing

Bark may be useful for weddings, where leads are reasonably priced, but for funerals the pricing feels unfair and excessive. On average I’m charged around 6 credits for a wedding lead, yet 29 credits for a funeral lead. Their explanation is that I can “get more leads” from a funeral booking, but that logic is disappointing and out of touch. Funeral enquiries come from families in vulnerable, emotional situations — it shouldn’t be treated as a premium-priced sales opportunity.

As a service provider, I’d like to see fairer and more ethical pricing across all categories.

Overall Bark has been very valuable to my business despite this issue.

I love the lead gen

I love the lead gen. The thing I’d love to see to make this better would be as leads age out, say 2-4 weeks after posting, typically once the speaker has been chosen, make those leads free so we can establish a relationship with them. I’ve talked to many a client who stopped using Bark bc they weren’t getting good out reach, and yes their budget and topic play a role, but when they say they only came back out of necessity that’s not a good long term growth model for Bark.

I thought I was just trying Bark on a…

I thought I was just trying Bark on a trial with some credits, but later discovered I’d been put on an ongoing Elite Pro subscription that kept billing me without me realising. The main dashboard often showed I wasn’t subscribed, and I don’t recall any clear emails or warnings that the free trial had converted into a paid plan. Support cancelled the subscription but only refunded the last month, refusing to refund earlier charges even though I barely used the service and clearly didn’t understand I was still subscribed.
