Lovely staff and knowledgeable but focus needs to be on what’s being sold.
The staff were really lovely and gave excellent demonstrations of the different prams and travel systems. They were incredibly knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. As first-time parents, the whole process can feel quite overwhelming, so we really appreciated their support.
The only reason this isn’t a 5-star review is because of our collection experience. We came on a Sunday and unfortunately they were short-staffed, with only one person on the shop floor due to illness. We were the first customers there and were told before we could leave we would need to run through how to use the items again, which was absolutely fine and we understood why.
However, during the demonstration we started receiving a lot of unsolicited parenting advice that wasn’t related to the travel system we had purchased. For example, we were told to make sure if I decided to breastfeed to sit on the edge of the bed so I wouldn’t fall asleep on the baby, to make sure my husband washed his hands before holding the baby after work due to germs and not to let people kiss the baby? These were just some examples of many and I know it was all meant with kindness but it felt excessive and was unrelated to the purpose of the appointment. We could tell the shop assistant was stressed, especially as other customers were coming in and being asked to return later but, had the focus stayed on demonstrating the products we’d bought, I think the whole process would have been much smoother and less stressful for everyone involved. In the end, we were there for an hour and the second group of customers had already returned before our demonstration was even finished let alone even paying for the items. Realistically, it probably could have been wrapped up in around 20/30 minutes maximum. At 34+ weeks pregnant, all I really wanted to do was collect our purchase and get home.
