THE STORY OF AZURE STANDARD really begins in 1971 when my family made radical changes in the operation of our 2,000-acre dry-land wheat and cattle ranch. In the 1950’s almost all the farmers in America began using chemical fertilizers because the lure of higher yields was just too great to pass up. Not long afterward, the soil deteriorated to the point where the weeds and insects began to attack the crops, so pesticides and herbicides soon followed. Our family was caught in the cycle like most farmers, until 1971 when we took our farm out of the chemical cycle “cold turkey,” so to speak. In the first year, the chemical-dependent land only produced a small percentage of what it had formerly produced. At this point most farmers would have gone back to chemical use for economic survival. But, sticking to our convictions, we fought ignorance and lack of information in order to keep on without chemical use. As the years went on, the soil slowly regained its natural fertility. As a result of farming in this manner, both commercially, and on smaller scale in large gardens and orchards for our own use, our family became healthier. We began selling this healthier food to others who also wanted to reap the benefits of better nutrition. Our newfound customers soon began asking for different natural and organic products which we didn’t grow here on our farm, but we scrambled to find those products for them. Thus, in 1987, Azure Standard was born. Here, we understand that naturally grown foods are instrumental in producing a long and satisfying life. We’d like to see more farmers and home gardeners turn to natural organic growing practices, so we do what we can to not only support the organic farmer, but also provide as many organic products as possible. We chose to call our business Azure Standard, to signify by the name what we are attempting to do. Azure is a shade of blue which has been associated with law, justice, and honesty. In raising an azure standard, we want to place an honest standard in the marketing of food. We feel that the correct way to effect a positive change is not to attack the way it is being done, but to begin to do it right. We are dedicated to the “organic principle” of cooperating with nature and we pray others will join us so that we may once again see prosperity in our land. David Stelzer Azure Founder and CEO

Happy Customer

I am a relatively new customer but so far I have been very pleased with everything I have purchased and I am impressed with the Azure truck delivery man and the efficiency of how everyone works together at the delivery drop site. A very good experience every time.

Pick up

Pick up is a little disorganized. It may not be possible but it makes most sense for boxes to be organized by consumer name rather than a free for all. It took over an hour to receive my order which was definitely difficult with a toddler and a newborn. I’ll order again as this may have been a one off.

I had ordered from Azure because of a relative that recommended me.

I had ordered from Azure for the very first time. I ordered white wheat which I received but the quality was so poor I ended up throwing it all out. There were small rocks, wood sticks, and a lot of dust on it. When I called customer support she said it’s organic so it’s actually very normal. After that incident I will never use Azure for anything, i was planning on ordering a pallet of wheat but luckily my dad said to only order 1 bag to see how it is than we can order more.

Azure has some great products & drop site suggestion.

Azure has some great products, have had a few issues with grain in the past having debris and other seeds in bags. The grains purchased since have been pristine. Overall great company. Drop site suggestion at Lawson, Mo. Have signs with customers names in alphabetical order on the ground, for products to be dropped next to. So many people unloading and randomly sitting items in several places, makes to be difficult to find items. Otherwise love Azure and Love the Lawson, MO drop site.

Easy to navigate website, quality products

Easy to navigate website, clean and simple design. I like that I can put in an order, and then add and take away items upto the cutoff date. I've have been pleased with the quality in every order since I started ordering 7+ months ago. I look forward to reading the paper catalog when I want to see the upcoming sales and new products featured.

Mostly Great!

The main challenge is not knowing when the delivery will be. I cannot do pick-ups on Wednesdays as I facilitate a class Wednesday evenings, and my husband works 20 minutes from our drop and may or may not be able to do the pick-up. Otherwise, I love having this option for ordering bulk items we like to keep in stock.

I realize you can't make the schedule until you know what you have for orders, so I realize this isn't something you can change, really, but it is the one challenge we have with ordering.

Fraud and theft

I really do like your products. My last order was the worst I've EVER had with an online order! I pay straight from my bank account to avoid fees. Before receiving my order I got an email informing there was something wrong with my payment method. My husband and I Iogged on to try to process the payment again. Then it said we had 2 pending payments. I called your company immediately and got 2 clueless costumer service reps who told they have no idea why I got the email. But both payments were going to come from my account. I asked to talk to someone higher up. She couldn't do anything to help, but assured me as soon as they received payment they'd refund it and she would personally call me when it happened. Days went by, both $188 payments came out of my account 2 weeks ago. I called back and was told my bank hadn't actually gotten money to you and it could take 10 days. But of course this guy, and the first manager would be calling me immediately to let me know the funds were received and they'd issue a refund. No one called back. So I called again this week. I was told you had received the funds and a refund has been issued to my account. The 2 people who promised to call me immediately when you received the funds have never called. I was told I STILL have to wait up to 10 days to get my money back. It's $188.81 taken twice from my account. How many people would you have caused to overdraft their account over an email that was a lie from the beginning. There was never a problem with my payment! If there had been you couldn't have withdrawn funds twice! You created this problem and one of your clueless operations told me it was my fault. I still have not been refunded. I've spent hours on the phone with your people. This feels like fraud and theft and if I don't have the funds in my account soon I'm going to lodge and complaint with my bank and whatever govt entity I can get to investigate you!
