Unfair claim rejection under "Super Cover" – Towing costs denied based on abusive terms
I booked a car rental through Auto Europe and paid extra for their premium "Super Cover / Excess Refund" protection, which explicitly states that roadside assistance and towing costs are covered.
During the rental, the vehicle became immobilized due to an issue with the keys. The local supplier (Alamo) resolved the operational issue and issued TWO completely separate invoices, clearly distinguishing the services:
1. One invoice for the physical key replacement (CHF 437.51).
2. A completely independent invoice for the cross-border towing and roadside assistance (CHF 893.26).
While I accept that the hardware of the key itself is a standard exclusion in the policy, Auto Europe’s Customer Service (Case #5954275) issued a final rejection denying the refund for the towing service as well. They are using an abusive "cause-and-effect" interpretation, claiming that because the immobilization was caused by a key, the covered towing service is automatically invalidated.
This is a clear breach of contract. Vehicle immobilization and roadside logistics are covered independent events under the Super Cover policy I paid for.
Due to their complete lack of flexibility and unfair rejection, I have formally escalated this case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net) against Auto Europe Deutschland GmbH. If you buy their "Super Cover", be prepared for them to look for any loophole to avoid paying when an actual emergency happens.
One Huge Scam!!!
Absolute bullshit. They rent you a car and say it’s a paid in full price. Then you go to pick it up and there are triple the add-ons. So if you think it’s going to cost you $1000, it really costs you $3000. It is all one huge scam and they know it. You are now on your vacation and you either take the car or leave it, at triple the price. I would NOT recommend Auto Europe to anyone ever!!!

also this year problem with Wizzcar , in Lamezia Terme,payed and reserved true Ryanair , they coudnt use my Platinum mastercard because they said i needed a cardreeder ?!?! houm traveling atound with a card reeder , specially when you have a platinum card, they took me to another car rental place and i had to rent another car for tripel the price i allready payed !!

I booked the car, paid for a full insurance and when picking up the car, I found out the company doesn’t accept THIS insurance. If you want a car, you need to pay my insurance -said their partner Hertz. No chance to cancell reservation so you pay double the price or leave without the car and your money. Offering the insurance by the company is a FRAUD.
Plus no informaton about the deposit amount during the booking process which is 200€ for the fuel!!! Jokes!

Nightmarish weekend in Montreal
This is my second experience with AE in the US. The first was fine as they went through budget for my car. This time all went wrong. I prepaid in full for my car in Montreal. They never specified this company “routes” was off airport. Which brings me to their customer service, which I can see from other reviews is not to standard. Alex very unhelpful with a tone that screams unhelpful sarcasm. They are always right certainly not the customer
I am from Montreal and work in the US so going home for a long weekend was nightmarish. I arrived at the counter after frantically looking for a shuttle bus which of course had no directions. Keep in mind, this is my city born and raised and also airport management at said airport.
Once arrived at routes, which looks like a bus depot, very unfriendly staff as well. I don’t know about my readers but I actually use my credit card wallet which is acceptable everywhere, even at car rentals. Now, this dilapidated place has not heard of new technology. Basically, no physical card, no car.
2 Uber rides later, next day I decided to go to my usual car rental. National Emerald aisle.. like coming home. Booked on line with my cc number and poof, I had my car..
They also wanted a deposit of $500 which I have never heard of!

Stay away from this company. Rented a car through Auto Europe with Drivalia. Out plane got delayed just over 3 hours, tried calling Auto Europe and Drivalia close to 50 times while waiting in Copenhagen for our plane. No response from either. When We meet up at Drivalia at the AirPort We were told our car had been cancelled 1 hour after booking time without refund. No place in our voucher from Auto Europe did it say it would get cancelled 1 hour after booking time. Also We had to wait 2 hours in queue at Drivalia, guess that means our car would have gotten cancelled anyway.

Feel free to look for the cheapest rental using a service like Auto Europe, but I recommend you go directly to the car rental agency and these kinds of problems.

If you prefer a cut- throat- pricing vehicle workshop experience, try Euro Auto Garage. Don't be fooled by several cars similar to your makes thinking "if so many of my car models are here for repair jobs then this place should be safe!". You will soon noticed that these cars had been parked at The Premier Kaki Bukit Euro Auto Garage for donkey months! It's a scam dude, average mark- up at this atrocious car repair service provider is between 350% to 600% in some cases concerning spareparts. Try to believe! Good luck.
