I rented a Mercedes for 6 days with Auto Europe and specified pickup/drop-off at the Malaga airport terminal. Issues:
1) Car pick-up and drop off with Niza cars was in an industrial area outside of the terminal
2) Niza car charged me twice Euro 150 for undisclosed and unauthorised charges in addition to the contract.
Charged for a rental I never received – no solution, no refund
Paid for a rental car through Auto Europe (Goldcar provider) and never received the vehicle.
Our flight was delayed and we arrived the same day at around 20:00, when the office was already closed. We immediately tried to call the rental office but no one answered, and we sent an email explaining the situation.
We received no response until the following day.
The next morning, we returned to the airport (taxi + train at our own expense), but Goldcar refused to provide a vehicle and confirmed there was no availability. Auto Europe also confirmed by phone that they could not offer any alternative solution.
We were left without the service we had paid for and were forced to rent another car with a different company, incurring additional costs.
Despite all this, Auto Europe refused any refund, claiming a “no show”, which is not accurate given the circumstances.
This is not a cancellation case — this is a service that was not provided.
Very disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to avoid this situation.
Auto europe and europcar would not recommend
Auto europe and europcar would not recommend either. I showed up at the bcn airport without a hard version of my passport and was denied rental. Auto europe does not indicate that is a requirement and it is not mentioned in tips to make your pick up easy. I was charged for the rental. Neither company customer service responds to inputs and in the case of auto europe comes back undeliverable and I tried three different email addresses. I will also say from past experience europcar will not rent the car if you do not have a valid idp. I cannot find any other rental company which has this requirement. I would not rent from either company.
Please avoid or your will be next.Scam
Please avoid or you will be next.. it is a scam Booked the car with auto europe for Four days ,I had to rearrange a pickup time per rental agreement ,I could do online ,even their phone gives the same message, you can manage your booking before the rental started online,so I logged in online and this option does not exist, no email also,so I called the number in the voucher and they told me I need to rearrange with autoeurope, I called auto europe and they closed at 5pm ,next day I called keddy car and they told me come to the airport the car will be available since you booked for 4 days , so I went to pick up the car at the airport in Tenerife , the company never exists, they use the name Keddy car also never exists,so I callee the number in the voucher it was closed despite saying they close 11pm, I finally found out they use europecar so I approached them and they told me , no notes and my reservation has been cancelled. No refund, I paid £137.00 which is roughly about 150 euros .Now Auto Europe held me for ransom, asking me to book again with them, and then to send them new booking, they will then negotiate a refund for previous booking which is not a guarantee..I asked for an email address and they said email contact will be provided only after I have booked , so don’t book with them I have taken this to a small claim
Don't book cheap car hire
Booked 10 days car hire fuertventura but only took a picture of my driving licence on my phone my fault .they refused me my car hire wouldn't give me any refund what so ever but the annoying thing is when I was at the desk got no help whatsoever I had no signal on my uk phone ask the desk please could you get intouch with auto -europe they said no and wouldn't let me use there phone just fobbed me and I was stuck at the airport no phone there cheap for a reason
I prepaid for a rental vehicle from Autoeurope.es
I prepaid for a rental vehicle from 11/15/2025 to 12/06/2025 from Milano Malpensa Terminal 1 through Autoeurope.es for Europcar. As soon as I arrived they informed that they could not rent me a vehicle since I did not have an International Driving Permit and yet refused to return my money.
Really bad customer service
I have used auto Europe for more then 10 years and I never had a problem.
This time a have rent 2 car because I had trip in Paris and Amsterdam.
First car in Orly airport in France I rent with europcar, I gave my voucher to the desk with full Insurance that I pay with autoeurope and they gave me a contract all in French to signed that I thought it was the rental agreement.
I sign for extra insurance without knowing and without my consent.
The charged me 426€ from my credit card for 4 days of the extra insurance.
I complained to autoeurope to dispute this charge with them and they told me that is nothing we can do to help you.
This is a disgrace for auto Europe and europcar and I will never used again.
Unexpected Cross-Border Fee Not Disclosed
We booked a car through Auto Europe and were charged 36 EUR extra at pick-up for a so-called “cross-border fee” to drive from Belgium to the Netherlands.
This charge was not disclosed in the Auto Europe website, booking conditions, or the rental voucher. At the counter we were told we had no choice but to pay and reclaim it later.
We expect Auto Europe to stand by its terms, ensure full transparency of costs, and arrange a refund of the 36 EUR. Please respond to this review and contact us to resolve our case. EU22747180
Very misleading payment totals
Very misleading payment totals. Maybe I should have gone direct rather than through the company which I accessed through Skyscanner. As far as the website and invoice said I had paid for 7 days car rental and the extra insurance to be safe and paid £151 total.
In reality when I spoke to the rental company as far as they were concerned I’d only reserved and had to pay for the rental and the extra insurance which was £351 !
The lady at the desk said that the £151 had nothing to do with them so it was like an introduction fee.
We had cancelled the transfers to the hotel by this point.
In hindsight should have walked away and got a taxi and maybe hired one local to our accommodation for a couple of days. Usual scuff lies followed after they know you are through the check in stage at the airport. But the car was good, learning curve. Go direct, don’t go through different sites to book.
Actual thieves
Actual thieves. No hyperbole. Just stole my money.
My flight was delayed from Leeds and when I arrived in Majorca, there was no shuttle buses, no nothing. I found their number repeatedly with no answer. It was past the time the office was advertised as open now so I had to find another way to my hotel.
Get hold of them in the morning and they tell me that because I didn’t let them know quickly enough that they have now cancelled my car and have kept the money.
Literal theft
No idea how to move forward as this is the first day of the holiday. Do you have a different car or do I try pursuing them further? Not questions I would expect to have to think about on my holiday.
Disgusted.
I note they’ve added their standard “please contact customer services” reply to my complaint. Did this. Spoke to Adrian. Adrian took great delight in saying they’re keeping my money and not giving me a car. He went to say no when I asked to speak to the manager he claimed to be quoting.
Please avoid these charlatans if you can. They seem cheap, but they are thieves first and foremost

Refund hasn’t been refunded.
I was told I’d receive my deposit refund the day I returned my car.
A week later, my deposit hasn’t been refunded.
This company has £1000 of my money.

Be very careful
Be very careful when booking with this firm. The price is cheap in the UK as auto europe act as a broker like the middle man and do not own the car. I found this out in Menorca when I had to pay a further €270 for further insurance. When bringing this up with customer service who only work 3 days week !! They ignore you.

We received an additional invoice of 500+ EUR after returning the car
We booked our car through Mietwagen-Check, and rented a car from Auto Europe, which forwarded us to K10 in Mallorca. After returning the car to K10, they were sending us an additional invoice over more than 500 EUR for things that are unjustified (e.g., additional damage of the car that did not happen). When we've sent them an email asking for proof of the damage, we did not get any reply. This has been the worst car rental experience so far and we do NOT recommend Auto Europe or K10 to anyone.

We were charged two times for renting a Ford mpv in Barcelona, Spain. First by Auto Europe when booking, and then again by Hertz/Dollar rental.
We've reached out after learning that money were simply withdrawn from the card, and now it's been almost a month without any response at all. Not doing this ever again. Renting directly at a trusted rental company, do not use Auto Europe.

Again a very good experience with Autoseurope ! When arrived at the airport and wanted to pick up the booked car at gold car 🚗 they asked me ( gold car ) for a deposit of nearly 4000 euro and my credit card didn’t reach ! They changed this amount recently and didn’t inform autoseurope. I called autoseurope to explain the situation and one guy I think his name was Oscar . Helped me so well ! He was so professional and arranged a different car within one hour for 30 euros less at a different place in airport . With a normal amount security deposit of 1200 :) this was really so helpful ! Thanks for the great help ! I’ve booked my next car again trough autoseurope ! And are a very satisfied client ! Thanks 🙏

Low Prices, High Risks: The Rental Car ‘Surprise Fee’ Bingo
Easy booking and decent prices, sure—but the ratings you flaunt are either laughably vague or straight-up fictional. If you actually want to know what you're signing up for, you’ll need to do your own detective work: dig through Google Maps reviews of local branches just to dodge the inevitable scams. We all know the game rental car companies play on comparison sites. A microscopic scratch? Suddenly it's a “major damage” and guess who’s footing the bill.
But hey—all this pantomime magically disappears if you agree to their “supercheap” no-worries insurance that costs more than your actual rental. Suddenly that bargain deal looks like soggy toilet paper. So yeah, low prices are nice, but choosing who to rent from shouldn’t be a blind trust fall. You've got to tread carefully—these guys are pros at playing dumb and charging extra.

Stay Away!!
Stay away!!! This is the biggest bait and switch scam!! I arrived from Canada expecting that everything was paid for, including upgraded insurance. I then got to the checkout desk and they told me I needed extra insurance. This over doubled the original cost of my rental contract. I contacted them when I was back form vacation and they did nothing. Go elsewhere!!! They know to take advantage of tired, jetlagged customers.

Watch out
Watch out. You're being scammed here. You're not renting a car but buying a voucher. This voucher turns out to be worth 50 euros less than the 225 euros you paid when you try to use it at Avis Valencia Airport. As a result, you have to rent a new car directly from Avis, and instead of paying 225 euros, you end up paying more than 500 euros. So be very careful!

Scam- do not use
They have sent me an email that I have cancelled my booking when I hadn’t. When I called them, they told me that my card payment did not go through hence, they have cancelled my booking. This was not true, as well, as I could see that the payment was pending on my card and when I phoned my card provider they told me that the payment has been approved by them but cancelled by the other party. This company is a complete scam!

Charged for damage I did not do
I was charged a large amount of money for damage I did not do. I have the evidence on video (taken at time of car collection) that the damage was already there before I hired the car. But I have still been charged.
