I keep being notified Paul that you are trying to take down the review. You scammed me out of £700, (which I spent 2 years saving for) a patio that you failed to start, let alone complete. You have left a mountain of heavy concrete on my lawn which I am unable to move. GIVE ME (and the rest of the people below) their hard earned money back! Im sorry this is the only way you know how to get money. Lying, cheating and scamming people that trust you. What a piece of work you are!

This company cancelled the paving job and refused to refund the deposit.

Their operation manager provided a paving quote in mid-April, and requested and up-front deposit for the work. Once paid, their operations manager refused to come, making up differing excuses.

After the operation manager officially cancelled the job in mid-June and promised to make repayment, I have been chasing that repayment for over three months, and have had numerous promises for return, yet the deposit remains unpaid.

This company is unfortunately not trustworthy, and for those others who have had similar experiences, I recommend filing for a county court claim via
HM Courts and Tribunals Service Civil Money Claims.

My wife's review has been flagged, which she is trying to get reinstated, but I am obviously free to post mine.

Paul agreed to carry out carpentry and gardening works for us. He received large deposits from us for carpentry which he never carried out and is still yet to return our deposits. He recently agreed to make payment in installments, then tried to bully us into taking our review down before payment would be made. We obviously will not be doing that as we understandably don't trust him as far as we can throw him. If you also have a review up, PLEASE DO NOT BE BULLIED INTO REMOVING YOUR REVIEW. Like other customers we are also in contact with Citizen's Advice and Trading Standards and I would advise all to do the same. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS CROOK GET AWAY WITH THIS.

Now on to the garden works which for which he was paid in full but did not finish the job. As you could have guessed the works that were actually done were not carried out to a high standard and the paving stones that we agreed on were substituted for a cheaper lower quality type, which have become loose in several places. THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS HE CONTINUALLY LIED and gave a million excuses for why he could not complete works or return our money. He told us that his father in law died, then went as far as saying his daughter had died. PLEASE! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!!! DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THIS CROOK!!!

Be warned. Paul Cook was meant to deliver a service for which he took a deposit. I found him via bark. He promised me a refund that I never received... Do not trust Paul Cook.

I wrote a bad review a few weeks ago after being let down by Paul and owed money.
And then he asked me to delete the review saying he would make sure to pay me back, so I deleted it. He then said he had already transferred me the money, which he hasn't.

LATER THAT EVENING HE EMAILED ME AN INVOICE AND ASKED FOR A 35% DEPOSIT WHICH I THOUGHT WAS RESONABLE AS THERE WAS A LOT OF MATERIAL TO BUY (WHAT A FOOL).
HE SAID HE COULD NOT START WORK UNTIL 9/8/22.
ON MONDAY 8/8/22 HE EMAILED ME STATING A SKIP WOULD ARRIVING BETWEEN 1 AND 4 AND COULD I SEND PAYMENT OF £286.75 WHICH I PAID (WHAT A FOOL AGAIN) THE SKIP DID NOT ARRIVE. I INFORMED HIM OF THIS AND HE ASSURED ME IT WOULD BE THERE FIRST
THING IN THE MORNING AND HIS CREW WOULD BE STARTING WORK AT 8.30am
ON THE MORNING OF 9/8/22 I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM PAUL AT 8.15am HE SAID HIS MOTHER HAD PASSED AWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE.
WE AGREED WORK WOULD COMMENCE ON FRIDAY 12/8/22. THE DAY BEFORE I DECIDED TO EMAIL PAUL TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OK FOR FRIDAY BUT I HAD NO REPLY.
BY THIS TIME I WAS GETTING VERY SUSPICIOUS ABOUT THE WHOLE THING, I DECIDED TO DIG DEEPER INTO THE SO CALLED ATPM LTD AND FOUND REVIEWS FROM PEOPLE WHO WERE VERY UNHAPPY, EXCUSES WHERE FAMILY DEATHS, MOTHER IN LAW DEATH, AND ONE REVIEW WAS THE DEATH OF HIS MOTHER BACK IN JULY A GOOD THREE WEEKS BEFORE HE TOLD ME SHE HAD PASSED AWAY.
ON FRIDAY I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM HIM SAYING HE COULD NOT START THAT DAY AS HE DID NOT REALISE HOW MUCH PAPER WORK WAS INVOLVED IN HIS MOTHER DEATH AND HE COULD START THE FOLLOWING WEEK.
I INFORMED HIM ABOUT THE REVIEWS AND THAT I WANTED MY MONEY BACK, SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE. MY LAST EMAIL WAS TO INFORM HIM THAT IF DO NOT RECEIVE MY MONEY BY MONDAY 22/9/22 THAT I WILL BE REPORTING HIM TO TRADING STANDARDS AS A ROGUE TRADER AND TO ACTION FRAUD.
AS OF NOW NO MONEY RECEIVED.

I paid this company money for deposit and parts on 5th July,but no work has been done after many excuses.
And no refund for money!

Like many other's I hired Paul to do some work on my property, paid £1509 for the deposit and skip hire, and then his father in law died.

No money in his bank account for my bank to reclaim, now I'll be going through small claims court. I have reported him to action fraud.

I don't blame myself, he was so convincing that we turned someone else down who seemed suspicious. This was the first time we paid anyone to do work on our house and I will definitely struggle to trust anyone again.

To everyone else going through this, please report him to action fraud and I hope you all get your deposits back. My lesson from this is to pay for these things by credit card from now on.

And to those of you looking for a company, look elsewhere. Please don't make the same mistake we all did.

This is a re upload of a previous review from myself as Paul promised a full refund if my original review was removed which I went along with - unsurprisingly his end of his own offer has gone unfulfilled.
Please do not fall for this scam - every time we have tried to get our money back from this person we have been met with more lies. He will not return your money. We now have further evidence in writing to add to our ActionFraud case that refunds have been promised and not returned. He even offered to refund more than we paid as a “gesture of goodwill” knowing full well he wouldn’t return a penny.

Interested to see how long it will take for this review to be flagged / a negative comment to be posted but as is clear from the many other reviews this man is an absolute fraud and his word means nothing.
It really is awful to see so many reviews from people he has stolen from.

Another similar story to others on this page. I was approached by Paul after putting a request on Bark in 2022 for some repaving work for my front garden in January 2022. I paid an initial deposit of £737 in April to secure dates for work to start in May. On the agreed date in May, Paul told me he had a personal issue so he couldn’t bring over samples but they would start as planned the following week. No show the following week and no communication for 2 weeks despite repeated chasing. Eventually they said they’d do it the following week, and someone turned up and did 1hrs work and said they’d be back to finish it in the next two days. This did not happen. After repeating this pattern multiple times, we got to 9th July and had agreed I would have a full refund if the work was not completed by then, again nothing. I left a negative review on Google and was contacted by “Charlotte, the office manager” who said they were processing my refund that day. I chased again the following week and got a call from Paul who told me he would process the refund that day. I am still waiting for the money to appear and I have had no further response to chasing. I have reported to Action Fraud, Trading Standards are actively investigating and I am trying to recover my money via my bank/small claims.

These guys laid our patio at the start of August and our decked area at the end August. Both jobs were finished to an exceptionally high standard

Rang mr cook spoke to his brother and was informed by him that his brother had broken his foot but us assured that the fence would be fixed on the 3rd august NO SHOW.was emailed saying the fence would be fixed on the 14th august NO SHOW.sent another (17th august)email asking for my money back,was assured by mr cook that the refund was on its way.still waiting for my refund

Work was supposed to start 8 Aug. But the day before Paul Cook called to say his mother had passed away. It is the same story he told another reviewer. Paul seemed like a genuine trader but unfortunately he has lied from the start knowing that the skip and materials he ‘apparently ordered’ would not be delivered! We paid a deposit in July to book the work dates and we are still trying to get deposit repaid. Do not make the same mistake we did, avoid using this company

I would like to share my experience with Paul from All Trades Property Maintenance Ltd (ATP Maintenance, 90 Elmers End Road, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 4TA) for the last 7 months with you to prevent another issue like me. I have strong and reasonable suspicions that Paul is a not real builder considering the following events that happened between Paul and me.

1. Paul had actively solicited me to hire him when I wanted to replace the existing skylight with a new one in Jan. 2022: he had pushed me to make a decision ASAP over three times. He, however, had not started the job for the last 7 months since I paid a deposit in Jan. 2022.

2. He has continuously promised me to start the work over 9 times for the last 7 months, but he has not shown up on the agreed 9 different dates with numerous sets of personal reasons or excuses.

3. Although Paul has confirmed that he has made the refund of my deposit at my request, no fund has come through yet.

4. Paul suddenly and unilaterally cut off all communication with me and was not reachable until my review is posted. He has called me more than 10 times after my review.

5. The case has been reported to the police and the police is investing the issue. Action Fraud Reference Number is NFRC2208××××××××.

Paul is a fraud.
He took our deposit money, did two half days work and then said he could not do this job anymore. He said he would return the deposit in full…. Over two months later and I’m still waiting.

I am now going through small claims court to get my money back.

He repeatedly promised returned funds, dates and timelines that did not transpire. His team told me they’d made bank transfers that would be in my account by x date, but failed to materialise.
If anyone doubts this review: try looking them up on checkatrade or bark. They are not listed (despite what their website claims).
Their site on trustpilot has links to Croydon waste rather than their actual site. And the trust pilot positive reviews are all from people who have only ever done one or two reviews (always for ATP) so I believe these are fake reviews.
Just look at Alex Adam and Rose Cole’s reviews…. Identical wording.

The other negative reviews sound horribly similar to my experience but Paul has claimed he does not know then and even accused one of racism.

Please avoid ATP Maintenance at all costs. I have persevered with posting this (Paul has repeatedly tried to have it removed), but I am desperate that more people don’t fall into the same trap I did.

I paid Paul Cook (alias Paul Johnston) of All Trades Property Maintenance / atpmaintence.co.uk a deposit of approximately £900 for fence repairs and the paving of a front garden patio. No work has ever been started and after countless follow up communications to arrange a start date after his mother-in-law unexpectantly died and he then cut the heel of his foot open (photos available & associated messages) he has now disappeared with no trace or contact. Please be very careful as its very sad to think Paul can just continue to operate in this way thanks to Trustpilot advertising his services.
