Avoid at all costs
Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience with Asa and must advise you to avoid Asa and his team at all costs. He bid a project for us to install skirtboards and paint our house. Several weeks later, he walked off the job having accepted full payment without finishing the job and cut off all contact. (We were abroad and paid him sight unseen--a mistake we deeply regret!)
The work he did was absolute rubbish. He splattered paint all over the floors and left it. He dripped paint on faucets and previously installed skirtboards. He cut the new skirtboards at 90 degrees instead of 45, and since he had selected shaped boards, the corners looked even worse then you'd imagine! He agreed to paint the skirtboarding after installation, and then didn't do it.
When we saw pictures (taken by a friend) and my husband expressed concern, he promised to come back and make everything "perfect." (Why he told us it was done when it was such a disaster is beyond me, but I digress.) Many weeks later, he finally came back for one day. At the end of the day, he left, and blocked my husband on Facebook and wouldn't return phone calls or WhatsApp messages. The project remains completely unfinished, the house is in terrible shape, and now we're left paying someone else to fix or redo all of it.
We've had several other contractors look at the job since, and they've all expressed their dismay at the terrible job he did. One wrote: "I am genuinely sorry that this man has not even done a half decent job. His excuse about corners and walls being out of plumb is crap, not very many corners are perfect, and we as carpenters get over that. And with paint all over the floor, it does not look like he is a good painter either. Not even a good handyman. I do hope you haven't paid him everything." Hire Asa at your own risk.
