Processing payments into your ANZ account is slow compared to other banks. Better off banking elsewhere.

I am not a customer of ANZ,however for the last three years they keep sending letters to my address for somebody elses account.no matter how many times I return to sender, tried emailing them and gave up trying to phone them as my patience gives out waiting for them to answer.
Reprehensible.
I sold goods online, the buyer used a compromised account, ANZ froze thousands of dollars in savings without informing me for a month and made me jump through several hoops to recover my funds.
They were treating me like a scammer the entire time, even after I followed all their directions to a tee.
At risk of seeming disrespectful, one would have to be a fool to send funds from a compromised account to one's own.
Oh, and to make matters worse, they didn't inform me they had frozen my savings. It was only when I went to withdraw from my savings that they told me to contact support, which had a 45 minute wait time.
Apparently it's my fault that ANZ doesn't have proper security.
This isn't the first time ANZ has screwed me over either, but I care so little for this bank I feel it is not worth my time discussing.
To those looking to keep their savings with ANZ: invest in something they can't take away, like real estate or precious metals.
Going to the banking obudsman
ANZ declined my credit card limit raise due to me buying "bitcoin too often" with my own funds.
Spent 1 hour on the phone discussing my income, assets and expenses, then my request apparently went to head office where it was denied because of "too many bitcoin transactions". The lovely support man said I was eligible by their criteria but someone higher up has declined the credit limit raise.
This is 5 years after they gave me an $8000 credit card when i was 19 making 34k a year, yet they won't raise my $500 card to $1500 when I'm making 70k a year...
Yes I am going to go to the banking ombudsman for inappropriate lending practices.
Uncontactable Customer Service
Since they have closed SO MANY BRANCHES you wait for 20 minutes or more now for customer service on the phone. It is just not acceptable. I see the 1 star rating is at 84 % - that must be so embarrassing for a bank. If I had that rating for my business I would be doing everything I can to fix it. Does ANZ actually care about service????
Your Card and Money is less safe with ANZ
I wish I could give less than a 1 star review.
If you notice, there's a banner notice by ANZ that says something like "fraudsters are targeting ANZ customers...". After a recent event, I now know why.
On Sunday, 11th September I woke up at my residence in Hamilton to a fraud alert email from ANZ by 5:07am same day. The email says:
"ANZ's fraud monitoring system has picked
up unusual activity on your card. A
temporary block has been placed on the
card until we are able to verify the activity.
Please contact us between 7:30am and
9:00pm to discuss the activity"
I immediately check my ANZ account and found 4 transactions on my ANZ debit card with details: "Z Waikumete, "Mobile Avondale", "Z Avondale". From the timestamp on the details, the transactions took place between 4:20am and 4:45am on 11 September in Auckland. Within minutes almost $800 was gone from my account. Meanwhile, I was in Hamilton with my card.
On Monday, 12 September, I rang ANZ fraud centre on 0800728750. From what ANZ told, they had reproduced my debit card, with the same card number as the original card, pre-activated the card and sent it to my Auckland address. It was apparent that someone has intercepted the card ANZ reproduced and used it over a Pay wave ETPOS/POS.
Prior to the time of the call, ANZ never informed me that my card was reproduced and sent out to the post. ANZ was reckless to say the least to pre-activate a debit card with PayWave knowing well that cards in the post could be intercepted by anyone.
When I raised this complaint to ANZ over the phone on 11 September, all they could say is that the automatic reproduction and pre-activation of the card was according to their policy. They never bothered that their policy exposed me to great risk of card fraud.
By Friday, 16 September I never heard anything else from ANZ on the matter so I visited the ANZ the Base, Hamilton. ANZ the Base re-echoed what the fraud centre told me and said there is nothing they can do about it. When I persisted that I wanted my money back, they asked me to leave the branch immediately. When I didn't leave, they called the Base Security who, according to her, rang the Police. The Police never showed up, it was close of business and I left the branch.
LESSON: Your money is less safe with ANZ. The obvious reason fraudsters target ANZ and not a bunch of other banks is that ANZ makes their job too easy. The guy that used my debit card for shopping didn't have to do any computer coding or hacking. All they had todo was take the card n go straight for shopping
Personal loan
I finally got my personal loan thanks to Gajula, Srinivas who patiently assessed and make my loan approved. Overall experience is great and smooth and easy.
ASB efficiency
I want to share with you guys my experience today with ANZ.
My reason for going to the bank was to increase my credit card limit. I was an ANZ client for nearly six years until today.
AftI would like to share one failed phone call application last week; I had to wait eight days for my face-to-face appointment with an ANZ bank consultant. From the beginning, I told the consultant I was very straightforward, so I didn't want to waste her time or mine.
Long short story, after almost 1 hour of answering questions to the bank consultant that were very reasonable and obvious to me, The consultant told me that I have to wait until Wednesday next week for a yes or not.
After I left the ANZ bank, a little bit annoyed and frustrated, I saw an ASB branch next to the bank, and I went there to discuss another topic. It took to the ASB staff member 15 minutes and two phone calls ( 5 minutes at the counter, 10 minutes on the phone, I would like to lie to you guys, but it was true) to convince me to open a new bank account and get a credit card with the limit I need it.
If it is not efficient, I don't know what it is.
That is pure knowledge and the use of common sense.
It's a shame that nearly six years were in vain.
Regards,
J P.😘
Help desk hours don’t seem to match Contact Us info
I got information from their Contact Us page via their banking app that they are available until 9pm for customer help, but when I tried to get some help I got a recording that indicated I had phoned outside of their service times - that they close at 7pm. Contact Us info seems to be wrong.
Rude, unprofessional liar
Rude, unprofessional. Ordered a new debit card because the old one has expired. The people picking up the phone were really impatient and said that the card was already mailed. But it never arrived. The address on file was also correct. It just never arrived and had to walk into the nearest branch to get a new card
Worst Bank Ever
Worst Bank Ever. we have both business and House loan with ANZ. They increased our business interest rate to 9.5% this year during this stressful time. Just lost trust with ANZ. Good Job ANZ your complaint department is useless they just forward email to the same person who is dealing our account from last 2 years... better to close it and save some money over here.
Great bank with great staff
Great bank with great staff. In all offices I've ever been I see smile and great attitude towards me and I'm not a special client, you know...

Pathetic service, documentation and customer support.
Unprofessional
Worst customer service ever experienced
After selling our commercial business and being a high valued customer for over 30 years - my partner and I are the most undervalued customers. In 12 months we have had over 6 managers assigned to assist with our investment property mortgages - the WORST customer services, chasing managers for answers, getting passed onto other managers because other “managers” did not know how to assist us, weeks, to months to obtain mortgage approval, it’s understandable that sometimes people can be busy .. but continuously lying and advising of replies and then nothing … my partner and I will be changing banks due to the stress and awful customer service

I spoke to a helpful and well mannered lady, her name is Vanessa, best customer service I have had over the phone so far!! She really helped me out a lot, Thank youu.
Always very difficult to get someone on…
Always very difficult to get someone on the phone, always a 10-15 minute wait. This is has been the case for a long time so its not a covid issue. You would think they could use some of the exorbitant profits to employ enough staff to actually offer some service
Anz Lower Hutt is the worst
Anz Lower Hutt branch has the most shocking display of customer service. A customer wasnt wearing a mask and was being harassed by the teller. Until he had enough and said stop assuming I dont have an exemption to her reply Im not going to serve you until you apologise. The teller should apologise not the customer. So shocking. Never a pleasant banking in this branch!!! Please train your staff.
Very bad terrible customer service if…
Very bad terrible customer service if you want to call them at least an hour of your day gone just being on hold
I waited two weeks for an appointment…
I waited two weeks for an appointment at Henderson branch only to be told the system was down when I arrived and the banker haven’t even call to reschedule or keep me in the fkn loop..so I moved my business to Kiwibank..at least they answer the phone
One of the worst bank I have deal with
One of the worst bank I have deal with. Unfortunately we have to stick with them for 2 more years. If you are looking for a mortgage, stay away from ANZ.
Neoliberal nightmare of a "bank"
I get harassed over the phone every week by ANZ who call exclusively while I'm at work from a private number. They behave like literal loan-sharks.
Absolutely terrible bank with far too much power over NZ. Services are terrible, rates are insane, customer service is condescending, and they've undone 3 years worth of kiwisaver contributions while making it nearly impossible to withdraw from. They're constantly manipulating the markets & reserve bank and actively worsening the economy to their own gain.
On top of all of this, their app gets taken down all the time disrupting so many peoples lives.
ANZ treats its customers like a bad investment while parasitising on them, taking advantage of the fact that we have no public banking options - only an oligopoly of private banks
