Exceptional support

Exceptional support at all hours of the day and night! I was having trouble configuring the app because my Belgian alarm company technician (nothing to do with Ajax) had given me the wrong instructions. I sent a message to Ajax support on a Friday evening around 7:45 PM Belgian time, hoping for a reply after the weekend. To my absolute surprise, I received a response within half an hour. Plus, there's a one-hour time difference with Ukraine (where Ajax is based). Our email conversation continued in impeccable French via a translator until 11:30 PM (12:30 AM their time) until I finally managed to configure the app correctly. Bravo to the Ajax support team, and long live Ukraine!

Outstanding Technical Support even on weekends

I am highly impressed with the Ajax Support Team. Not only did they respond to my technical inquiry on a Sunday, but the level of expertise was top-notch. They immediately understood the hardware diagnosis regarding the PSU capacitors and provided clear, professional guidance including official alternatives (12V PSU). This is how premium security support should look like. Fast, knowledgeable, and straight to the point. Special thanks to the team for the battery calibration tips. Five stars well deserved!

Ajax was recommended by my dad

Ajax was recommended by my dad. Also at my company we use it for securing assets. Really easy to install, setup and to use by yourself. Even my wife (who is a smart lady, but not so 'tech-savy') found it to be easy and usefull. Clear instructions. On top of that highly customizable settings for all connected devices. Two things to improve in my view are (1) the ai recognision system in the HL cameras often identifies birds and bugs as humans. Which makes it not viable to link alarms to human activity, and (2) the payment plan to get recordings from the doorbell is a bit disproportional. I appreciate ajax have to maintain servers (also for the rest of their free services), but it seems a bit skewed to put it all on the doorbell. I wouldn't mind paying one or two euros per month for all services to be kept up, but a jump from 0 to 25 just for cloud storage on one device feels extreme.

Unreliable sensors and poor customer service

Devices are unreliable and Ajax don't seem to care. Ajax have no interest in supporting their products outside their EU mandated and strictly enforced 2 year warranty policy.

Had several alarm sensors installed. One started malfunctioning after about a year. Unfortunately, I naïvely gave Ajax the benefit of the doubt and I disabled it believing I could restore or remedy the problem at a later stage. Then a second device started malfunctioning. The company I bought the sensors from had ceased trading. After finding this out I informed Ajax directly of the issues less than 2 months outside the 2 year warranty window. Their response was disappointing. They were quick to respond to messages but made very burdensome requests to test the devices, e.g. test in a light proof box for several hours in the hope the device rights itself. They also directed me to enable back door access to my space which they later said could not identify and diagnose the issues. That is hard to believe. Why request access in the first place?

All in all in my experience Ajax sensors will go wrong, if you buy hope they go wrong within 2 years and you notify Ajax immediately. After notifying they will ask you to jump through hoops to confirm malfunctions, and then provide little to no tangible help. For example, suggesting buying a replacement device or a full replacement service from a currently trading company is not helpful.

The device was bought in March 2023. The issue was reported to Ajax in May 2025 after learning the original seller ceased trading (not immediately obvious until their website went offline). My correspondence outlines an issue and that it had already been happening for some time.

Hi,

I am successfully using many Ajax alarm products. However I am having recurring issues with one CombiProtect sensor of the several installed in our house.

This one device triggers incorrectly and too frequently. I have tried swapping it to other locations and adjusting the configurations of the device, e.g. lowering the sensitivity. However nothing has been successful and I have resorted to disabling it long term.

I was wondering if you could try help resolve the issue(s) with this sensor? Its QR code id is [redacted id].

I received the following response. I mentioned in the initial correspondence that I had tried the device in multiple locations, with multiple configurations, i.e. low detection sensitivity, and had resorted to disabling it. After detailing this and providing the id, the requests to "understand which of sensors is being triggered and what exactly causes it or may potentially cause it" did not make sense as Ajax had the id and I had already said I had tried several locations and configurations. So as you can see there is bureaucracy for the sake of frustrating the customer here.

Thank you for lettings us know about your situation!

We kindly ask you to give us few insights about your current situation:
1. Share with us screenshots from your Ajax application of alarm notifications being sent from your CombiProtect.

2. Share with us screenshot of your CombiProtect status.

3. Share with us a short video that indicates an example of alarm being triggered.
It is vital for us to understand which of sensors is being triggered and what exactly causes it or may potentially cause it.

We would like to note the following:

1. You contacted us on 23 May 2025 regarding the issue that your CombiProtect sensor had started generating false alarms on this device.
2. We would like to point out that, in order to investigate the issue as thoroughly as possible, we requested necessary additional information, namely:
- screenshots from your Ajax application showing alarm notifications being sent from your CombiProtect
- a screenshot of your CombiProtect status
- a short video demonstrating an example of an alarm being triggered
We would like to emphasise that the information requested at the time of the enquiry on 23 May 2025 was crucial for understanding the issue and is not a bureaucratic formality, as certain data that could guide us and the recommendations we provide can only be implemented by the system user. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response at that time, and after two further emails requesting this information to assist you with this matter, we received no feedback.
3. Instead, you returned to us on 4 April 2026 with the necessary information that could confirm the device’s malfunction; that is, 10 months had passed since the initial enquiry, by which time the device’s warranty had expired.

The two-year warranty period for Ajax sensors is the optimal timeframe for confirming the absence of manufacturing defects and the stability of electronic components, allowing the manufacturer to guarantee the full technical serviceability of the devices for a period that typically exceeds the standard discharge cycle of standard batteries, thereby highlighting the high reliability of the hardware.

As the warranty period had already expired at the time the fault was confirmed, a replacement under warranty from the manufacturer is not possible; that is why we advised you to discuss this with your retailer or another partner in the region.
