I've been using Ahrefs for over three years, and I'm surprised by the number of negative reviews here. While there are occasional issues.. likely due to the enormous amount of data they manage and keep up to date. I believe the quality of the insights they provide is outstanding and well worth the premium cost.

My working days with ahrefs consist of errors and long waiting times. Iam using ahrefs on and off since years and it has become worse and worse.
"22 Oct - We are experiencing some technical difficulties. The team is working hard to resolve the issue the soonest.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused."
Yeah we sincerely apologize bro, but keep paying 250 bucks every month for our slow and unstable services.
I will not extend my profile this time, and I will not come back for a longer period checking out the other available solutions on the market..
Its sad because ahrefs used to be good, but I can only advise against it at this point.

This company operates with a complete lack of integrity. The product, simply put, is deceptive. They claim a free trial, yet users are hit with unexpected charges—$29 after registration. It's not just the misleading fees; they seem more interested in selling your data than delivering value. Great products are built on transparency and trust. This company has neither. If you're serious about innovation and value, steer clear. They fail on both fronts.

Good service at first, but became expensive, limited and a lot of issues on Ahrefs's side.

ahrefs used to be good and had a great price, today you have to pay more than twice the amount and the service is getting slower and slower.
Iam using ahrefs for years now, had the 99$ subscription a long time. now the price for almost the same setup is around 250$, and I was willing to pay that too but now Iam experiencing a very slow service day by day since I've subscribed last week.
When you complain, they tell you they can't afford Service Level Aggreements so they are not able to give me a discount or anything for slow services.
My result is, I will use SEMRush in the future. It has all the same functions but seems to be way faster as I had the chance to take a deep look into this software a friend of mine is using.
so bye Ahrefs. Its sad but the truth. I loved the tool but its of no use if you have to wait 10+ seconds for every click you make.

I have been happy with them for the last 7 years or so. However, the price goes up and I find there are problematic issues a lot.

We use Ahrefs for all our domains, and it's pretty helpful. especially for keyword research and competitive analysis. however, it doesn't show how many credits we have left, and there are some occasional bugs too. but overall, it's a pretty decent tool

Reply from Ahrefs
stopped using it after the quota system was introduced! the service has become flawed and not customer-oriented.

Reply from Ahrefs
They don't notify you when you spent all of your included credits.
They just SILENTLY start charging your credit card when you use up more credits than it's included in the plan.
It's not an honest way of doing business.
Of course their representative can tell us, "You read the T&S so close your mouth," but practicing this approach, don't be surprised to get 1-star reviews and people spreading the word about your way of doing business.
It puts a shadow on everything you do.
Like, what else you might do behind the scenes? Maybe hide some valuable keywords from Lite/Standard-plan users in favor of Enterprise users?

Overpriced and Overhyped. Ahrefs has to be one the most overpriced SEO softwares out there.

Scammers , They charged me for 80 credits 29 dollars outrageous thats like 0.4 $ per credit. Thats really stupid. Please use semrush or moz. This company is doomed !

@ahrefs. SCAM ALERT I researched this company for about 1 month before becoming someone who clicks for commission to try and make some extra money. The first thing I did was to read the reviews and most looked good. I did 5 days and got $1000 for doing it for 5 days. Then the bottom fell out. It has cost me over $50k and rules change and customer service gives bad advice along with your trainer known as a Referrer. Now I have been told to do more now it's gonna cost me about another $65k to get any money back. The customer service Mgr is no help and has yet to apologize for his teams misinformation costing me over $150k. This is a scam and if anyone else has had this happen please reach out. Ahrefs keeps getting more expensive each month. Now, they’ve also added a "credit" system, so if you pay around $150-160 per month, you can only use their search bar a maximum of 500 times. This, combined with poor customer support and consistently lagging behind on rankings, makes it ridiculous for the amount of money they charge. I’m not supporting Ahrefs anymore.

I have been with Ahrefs for years, and I was pretty happy with their support and also pricing. However year by year it got more expensive, as a loyal client they kept my pricing the same. However a month ago my subscription got expired and I got no emails from them. Asking them to renew my subscription they refused to do so forcing me to pay their new plan which is way more expensive.

Forced us off the legacy plan by being accused of using up more credits than we were allowed to.
Truth be told, we have never been aware of any credits existing in the first place because we were using the platform quite conservatively. Yet, for some unexplainable reason, last month our credit usage went up 4x the usual and we were told to upgrade now or get our subscription deactivated.
As a customer, you are unable to see credits usage history so there is no way for us to verify whether we actually used that many credits or if something fishy was going on. Either way, upgrade-or-die.
We complained about the sales tactic to the support but decided to upgrade anyway reasonably assuming that a $20 upgrade wasn't that big of a deal.
Lo and behold. The new, upgraded plan did not include all of the features that we had previously.
In order to get the same features we would have to go for the $250 plan instead. Mind you, our original plan was only $99/mo.
You know what. No, thank you.
The question isn't the price, we pay $250 for our Semrush account, The question is how you treat us as your customers trying to squeeze us into a more expensive plan. Well, guess what, from this point on you will get $0/mo and a ruined relationship with us.
We will never recommend you to anyone and that's a loss you'll not recover from.
Also, waiting for their support to refund our latest payment, so we'll see how that goes.

Edited:
They have an overly complex credits system , which was hidden and not mentioned for the starter plan when signing up. This was not expected and essentially after I signed up at 8am, I'd used my full months credits within an hour. Close to £1 or more per search.
I requested a refund as this was not what I expected and while originally they said no, after a fair bit of effort they did understand and got me a refund, and I have since edited this review to reflect that.

They are thieves, I have paid for a "Standard account," and all I get is suspicious account activity, contact support and upon asking the support, they said you are using Ahrefs extensively, If I have paid for something, then I'll obviously use the way I want to use it!
And their support system lacks the most important thing which is "Support"!
Most of the time site is down, and no data is fetched; upon asking the support, they aren't doing anything!
And in response, they are saying that its for few hours, How many few hours? like 200 is few hours for you?
They are just lying to steal your money, never buying this Ahrefs again!
They are just there for the money and not the support they need to provide!
Now they have removed my "standard account" and demoting me to free account, remember renewal date was Aug 21, 2024!
They are thieves and scammers!
Stay away from them!

Recently, I've found Ahrefs to be quite frustrating to use. The functionality doesn't work as smoothly as it used to; I often encounter messages like "Couldn't fetch data" or the data fails to load altogether. Another ongoing issue is that Ahrefs data is not always accurate or real-time. For instance, keyword rankings are not consistently accurate and aren't real-time until you manually update them and wait for the fresh data to show, which is quite time-consuming.

Reply from Ahrefs
It used to be the best tool. Now is barely usable. When you need it the most it will crash and keep loading. Since our business relies on many features they offer I will have to stay with them reluctantly but as soon as a better alternative comes around we are done.
