Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 34 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the pricing to be excessive, with some feeling that the charges were a rip-off and not commensurate with the service provided. Reviewers frequently reported issues with customer service, citing unresponsiveness, delays, and a general lack of helpfulness, with some even experiencing calls being hung up on them. There were also numerous complaints about product-related problems, including missing items, damaged goods, and packages being opened and not correctly re-packaged. The delivery service also received mixed feedback, with many experiencing significant delays, missed deliveries, and parcels being returned to the post office despite customers being present. However, some people were satisfied with the delivery service, noting impressive delivery windows, fast and efficient service, and reliable on-time deliveries, even in rural areas. A few other people also felt that despite the high prices, the service was still cheaper than alternatives and worked well if rules were followed.

Rip off Ireland again!

I ordered 3 x T-shirts from a UK company. I didn’t realise that I wasn’t charged VAT and I received a message from An Post stating that I had to pay a fee. I paid the fee and when I received my package I sat down and worked out how much would it have cost if I had gone through AddressPal. It worked out cheaper having the package stopped by customs and paying the fee. DON’T USE ADRESSPAL!

Unpredictable Costs

I used Address Pal quite a bit before this but now will be seeking an alternative where costs are more predictable.

Retailer in the states sent my order in three separate packages and An Post charged me €15.99 for each received. Not An Post's fault but everyone needs to be aware that this can easily happen if ordering multiple items from a single store.
Now tax is due for each item with laughably inflated custom values. Also factor in the €3.50 admin charge for each.

You're really spinning the wheel when it comes to the actual cost of ordering from the U.S.

Terrible service

Terrible service. It takes weeks. Daithi below is not correct. The customs and taxes side is also contracted to an post. They have taken on more than they can handle. The parcels are in their Dublin hub for weeks and an post always have a backlog with them. Now they are going to provide AIB additional services as well. Good luck with the parcels after that.

Avoid!

Awful experience. Ordered something that was slightly over the 20kg limit (I did not know there was a 20kg limit, because it is not very obvious on their website), they rejected the parcel but did not notify me so I had to call myself to see what happened with the parcel, then get it collected from their hub by another carrier.
While the bad experience with the first item was partly my fault, the second item I ordered from the UK cost 27€, and I was charged 6.17€ additional VAT + 3,50€ AnPost Fee + another 6,50€ fee from AddressPal for forwarding. So overall, I paid a 16€ fee for a 27€ parcel. I will never use AddressPal again.

Never Again !

So I ordered from Russell Athletic USA for my USA address pal address and they shipped the order in 2 different trenches even though it was just 1 order. I immediately contacted address Pal to ask if there was any way for me to just be
charged one fee instead of being charged as they ship each item ? Otherwise this has just become very expensive for me. There were only 4 items in the order. The response I got “ I have consulted with the US team and I have been informed that parcels with different tracking IDs cannot be consolidated.

When a parcel goes through the AddressPal sorting system, the tracking ID and other information is entered and the delivery fee is deducted by the system. Consequently, we are unable to consolidate two parcels as one.”

I found this really sub standard as surely they could have stopped me being charged the €15.99 fee twice , also this fee is figured into the extra charges you pay when calculating customs. So I had to pay €15.99 twice and the €3.50 admin fee twice as well as VAT. My order came to € 56.39 in total and the extra charges I had to pay came to € 59.88 so more than my order. As someone said there is zero customer service - fair enough a computer applies the charges but at no point was I offered a refund for one set of fees. Won’t be using again .

For all the fees they take you would…

For all the fees they take you would expect helpful customer service. Admittedly I had not used my addresspal in over a year. I moved home and ordered something from the UK recently. I only figured out my mistake when I seen the email saying it would be delivered to my old address. The painting is over 200 euro in value so I contacted customer service and they said they could not change my home address just to wait to a delivery email and try to change or from there. Why do an post have no manual override of their own systems? I've made several phone calls and emails and they just can't/do not want to help. As a result I'm extremely worried now delivery will be attempted anyway and I'll be unable to retrieve my item. I did also update my address online anyway but that appears to have made no difference. Yes I accept it is a human error easily made but why is it so hard to channel to the nearest post office or your correct address once you have apssed security log on and updated your address? Where is the human element addresspal?! They do not seem to care.

Should have read reviews before using

Should have read reviews before using. . €6.50 charge for delivery from UK. No warning re customs charges.

Now have to pay €35 in Customs charges (incl €3.5 Admin fee!!!) for an item that is worth €55. Outrageous rip off. Avoid like the plague. In short use this service if you want to add over inflated customs charges to your order. Scam.

Absolute rip off

Absolute rip off. Stay well clear of this sham. Recently bought an item from the UK. €6.50 charged to use AddressPal, €3.50 administration charge, plus over exaggerated customs and Vat. Doubled the price for the original item. You would be better off getting it posted to Northern Ireland and driving up to collect it. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

Really bad experience from my first…

Really bad experience from my first time using this service. I ordered a product from UK total value including shipping was £21.98. An post valued the packaged at €61 which means over calculated vat charges. Contacted an post (address pal who can't help, I assume they valued the package, why can they not help). Emailed the customs section of an post and was told to wait 10 days for reply, bloody ridiculous. Will never use the service again.

Addresspal? Not just bad - staggeringly bad

This is nothing less than a shakedown. You pay your 6.50 euro. You pay your VAT in the other country. You expect prompt delivery. In fact, what happens is that you get an email with a crazy customs charge (no explanation of the reckoning) PLUS another 3.50 on top of that, as a service charge, for this payment. This will be the first you hear of these charges (no warning given that you may be subject to such charges when you pay Addresspal first). To me, that's a scam. Oh yeah, and then there's the final twist. You pay your charges...and the parcel never arrives. This is not a business, it's a con.

What a waste of time - use an alternative service if you can

Genuinely wish I'd read the reviews prior to using the service. I paid €6.50 for fees using address pal as the company I purchased from in the UK doesn't directly ship to Ireland. The package came through pretty quickly and all going well until the customs email came in for a future €25.22. I've emailed 5 times between date of customs being issued on 09/03/2022 to today 05/03/2022. No response from them.

Value total is €94.66 when it the total value of the order is €73.82. Anyway, its now passed the date to pay which was 02/04/2022 and with no response from them its now on its way back to the sender.

Finally found a working number online to contact Support who were of no additional assistance bar them sending an email also. Nice guy but really wanted to get the stuff I ordered.

OH, and its not entirely clear that on top of paying customs there's a handling fee of €3.50 which is a bit unfair given you just paid €6.50 presumably for both handling and postage fees.

I would give it 0 if possible

I would give it 0 if possible. Very expensive, double vat changes and item values seem to be plucked from thin air. An item bought from Amazon for £2 was valued by them at €18.40. They should just charge €10 for delivery to included an post’s customs handling fees. Very poor service

I sent a parcel to other country

I sent a parcel to other country, there were so many items missing from the AnPost delivery. Filled claim form, it said took up to 60 days for investigation. Waited nearly 3 month time now still haven’t heard anything from them. Call the customer service, every time waited in a queue for at least half an hour, first time the lady said they should have the decision by 12th March, but after 1 week later still didn’t received any letter with the solution; called again, the lady said someone will call me back, waited for another 2 days no one call me back; called again, the lady said she is waiting for them to reply email back to her first then she can call me back. But she didn’t have patient to explain more, she just staring hung up my call. How rude they are! Very bad service! Don’t recommend for international delivery with AnPost at all!!

Absolute nonsense

Absolute nonsense, received a card saying I haven't been home (even though I have been at home all day long!) & therefore they sending my parcel to Depot for me to collect, requested for redelivery. Which should be within 5 working days, no response & no redelivery for over a week, when I called customer service, after waiting for almost 30 minutes on the line the person who picked up put me on hold for 6 minutes, just to pick up again said hey won't delivery & when I tried to talk to him, he hanged up on me. Horrible experience.

Double VAT for UK

You'll have to pay double VAT (UK + Irish) on the items coming from the UK even if you provide proof that UK vat has already been paid. And they don't seem to care about this.
