Acorn account created through Prime without me signing up for it..

We knew nothing about Acorn, yet we recieved an email from Amazon Prime informing us our free trial had been activated. HOW? We haven't even watched Prime in the last two weeks. Took a long time to find the option to cancel (in very small print) in the email. Couldn't find any way to cancel in Amazon or Prime.

Beware of unscrupulous methods to keep you locked in!

Have tried to cancel my subscription for 4 days. Website says “Please contact support to complete this request.” So far have only received automated responses to my requests. There is no Customer Support Hotline. Chat page which is meant to operate 24x7, doesn’t work. In their automated response it lists a URL, that doesn’t exist. All I hear is CRICKETS! What is going on in Acorn, that a simple cancellation has turned into saga & nightmare!!

Nine days later, after repeated emails to Support, Accounts & Help Centre, there is still no response from Acorn TV, except they have taken money for another month's subscription.

Beware- false advertising

Acorn took my money but the show I wanted that they claimed was on their channel is “unavailable”. When I found this out I immediately cancelled but I am out the money anyway. They say the show is available with my subscription until April 18 but it is not. Beware

Cancelled the subscription and they…

Cancelled the subscription and they still took money for the subscription. I’ve been trying to get my refund for over 2 months and they aren’t responding to my emails at all anymore. Acorn TV is a rip off. The service never worked properly in the first place. Now I’m scammed out of the $70 for a cancellation.

Using Too Many Devices Message

I, too, have problems with freezing, sometimes frequently, despite very high speed (I checked) A bigger issue is that I often get a message that says I am using Acorn on too many devices, which is not true. It seems very likely that there is a defect in their coding, as when I try to re-watch a program, it won't allow me to do it, and moves ahead to the next program. If I try to go back, I get the "too many devices" message, so that's another problem with the coding. Customer support is no help, as this is a coding issue. I have explained to them about when the problems occur, but they have yet to fix it. Like many customer support departments, they take you through a raft of "solutions," none of which solve the problem because the problem is not with my computer. Poor problem-solving there.

I tried their seven day trial…

I tried their seven day trial membership and tried to cancel it at the end of seven days. I must’ve been a day late so they charge me for a full year.
However, then they cancelled my current subscription, even though they had charged me. Now I’m out $80 and I can’t access my account. I have been trying to resolve this with them. But no one gets back to you.
If this is an example of the kind of business practices, they allow in the UK then it’s no wonder that it’s going downhill.
They really don’t have any concept of what customer service means.

Content they display is not actually available

There were two shows I was interested in watching so I subscribed to Acorn TV as it showed them in their selection. In each case, they had maybe 1 or 2 episodes out of 20+ episodes. The rest just said ‘video unavailable’. Pages and pages of video unavailable. I’m sorry, don’t say you have a show unless you have at least one full season of it.

HORRIBLE DO NOT Use

this site does not work. Videos play through in seconds. Also keeps saying too many people using account when there is only one person, one device, one attempt. Deserves 0 stars not one. Date of experience is every few days for years!!!! WORST streaming site EVER. CONSTANT problems. No resolution. Overpaid for over a year. No refund. No service. DO NOT USE

I did a free trial for 7 days

I did a free trial for 7 days. Found limited viewing for New Zealand, the show have either been on tvnz or kanopy and you tube. If I tick cancel membership it says we are having trouble canceling the account. Customer service was to know why I want to cancel. OmG!

Cannot reach customer support

Could not access programming. Tried to reset password and was sent to a fraudulent link by the acorn tv app. This is very concerning. I purchased a year subscription, cannot get help and cannot access the programming. The programming is very good, but there is absolutely no customer service.

Amazon prime video scam

Worth reporting to police after funds stolen. Amazon subscribed me to Acorn TV twice without my knowledge - the first time, Amazon admitted their mistake. The next time I was told that one of my devices was used, then that I'd been hacked (by an Amazon Prime company?). No response to my complaint except to blame me.

Downloaded app which worked once

Downloaded app which worked once. Then would repeatedly fail at point of selecting a programme. Usually would then freeze. Wasted several hours including on a full reinstall. And trying a different device. Have managed I think to cancel within the 7 day free period. Don't waste your time on this.
