A terrible experience: scam & non recognition for cancellation of subscription.

A terrible experience. Acorn cannot improve their continued years of scamming. Foolish am I to want to follow a series & sign up again × 6 months.
My cancellation of subscription last February, 2026 with a confirmation number. Was ignored.
They disregarded & charged me for March and April. Only for them to try & withdraw again for May!
In March, my bank advised me to put a stop payment on April costing me $12. Mistake, it went thru anyway. So I then had to change my bank card.
- And streaming.... so many movies/shows are not recognised as advertised in Canada.
I will never recommend a positive review for Acorn. Very disappointing.

The worst site possible no customer…

The worst site possible no customer service and they won't help. I paid for subscription and they won't let me watch anything because they say another device has my login and that is not true. I only have one computer

First...I do love AcornTV/ Customer Service is a joke.

They are not the least bit helpful and there is no "service" to the customer. I ended my account because I cannot sign into AcornTV. I have been paying for AcornTV for YEARS but I have never been able to sign into my account without spending a couple of hours on the phone. I just tried to sign into AcornTV just to see,
Nope. Even with a password they generated, I cannot sign in. Their website is a technical glitchfest, their log in is non existent. I love the channel but if I need assistance I know there is none to be had. The next time I cannot get assistance, I will delete my account. Prime and PBS along with Netflix runs just about everything Acorn claims as an "exclusive" anyway.

POOR

So, signed on for Brokenenwood Mystery series, paid for it and now ACORN doesn't recognize the information. 1.5 on TRUSTPILOT about sums it up. Too bad, I liked the only episode I ever saw.

Not Worth The Trouble

Can't access shows. Acorn locks up and Can't watch shows have to sign in and out and no customer service. Sometimes locked out for 24 hours. Too much trouble, not worth it.

Poor selection of tv shows

I just find that there is a limited number of tv shows I like and new shows not added very often. Sometimes there is difficulty with the streaming from a technical perspective. A very disappointing streaming service.

I find Acorn TV Troublesome

I find Acorn TV annoying. Technical and Customer Support is awful. I'm being charged annually as well as monthly. What a scam! Can not get support online.
All their instructions do not work. Get Britbox.

After only 2 months into my paid annual…

After only 2 months into my paid annual subscription my viewing service was interrupted by an apparent technical error on the part of AcornTV. I was denied a refund of the remaining 10 months I'd paid for, nor was any curtesy of being a valued subscriber for over 3 years acknowledged. Nothing had changed with either Roku or my internet provider, so it was determined to be an AcornTV issue. It's been over a month since my last email to support and accounting; they have not responded.

Don't fall for the "free month" scam…

Don't fall for the "free month" scam when you cancel. On 10/30/25 I decided to cancel because I had watched all of the shows I liked. There is not a huge selection. I proceeded with the cancellation and then got an offer for a free month if I signed back up immediately. The offer indicated that my next billing would be 12/3/25 which looked like a free month. I signed back up immediately and checked my bank account today and there was a charge from Acorn. It was a scam to get me to pay another month, not give me a free month. And of course there is no way to contact them.

Unauthorised charges

First joined because I liked the look of the available series but set to not automatically renew as I wasn't sure I wanted to commit a whole year ahead. Was automatically renewed anyway. The next year I set to not renew, knowing my bank card would be replaced during that time. When the year was up I didn't get an invitation to renew but a series of emails saying they had been unable to take the funds from my account and requesting I update my card. Any company that takes payment without permission deserves no stars but that's not an option. Don't trust them with your money.

Very deceptive billing.

Very deceptive billing.
I signed up for 7 day free trial.
Decided to cancel before the end of the trial.
They still billed my Capitol 1 card.
When I called the help number listed on their website the representative proceeded to attempt to scam me out of more money by telling me I had won a free $100 gift card. but guess what? they needed my credit card information...
I'm disputing the $89.99 charge which I'm certain will be successful. but still it's just wrong.

Wish we were you …

The British Acorn is so much better than the NZ version. We have these shows replaying on Sky TV so it’s disappointing to see the adverts for new shows on Facebook for the British Acorn and for us …nothing. The last decent addition was Vera’s penultimate series. I’ll come back in a few months. That may help. Once every few months.

Not worth the money!

No issues with Acorn usage as watching through Prime video app so no issues there. My reason for 1 star is that I cancelled my free trial less than 3 days into the 14 days as I had watched the 2 programmes I wanted to. Went looking for other programmes to watch, found a few that might interest me but when I went to actually watch them they weren't there as the rights had expired!! So don't advertise them if you can't show them surely? What's the point in that?! Don't actually think there's a huge amount of shows on this service, definitely not enough to justify paying £4.99 a month for that's for sure.

DO NOT SIGN FOR A FREE TRIAL

OMG - warning, it is easier to access the vaults in Fort Knox, than access the "cancel subscription".
I have been trying for 2 hours to unsubscibe from my free trial. Which I only signed up for because it claimed to have Midsomer Murders Series 24. On loading Acorn TV, a big graphic came up of Inspector Barnaby(Neil Dudgeon) and sidekick Jamie(Nick Hendrix). Aha, I thought, excellent! Well not only did they NOT have Series 24, they had no episodes at all! So graphic was totally misleading!

Acorn TV customer service is horrible

Acorn TV customer service is horrible. While watching Acorn via my Amazon subscription, a notification came up that I could subscribe for $89.99 a year instead of the $8.99 I was paying thru Amazon. So I opted in and signed up. However, there was no notification that I wouldn’t be accessing Acorn as usual via Prime Video on Amazon. I found out by contacting Amazon customer service and asking why I was still being charged $8.99 a month. They don’t offer yearly subscription rates, only monthly. When I finally was able to contact acorn customer service and asked for refund because I didn’t want to access their service via my tvs web browser each time to view ( my LG doesn’t have the Acorn app on it) they said I could cancel service but no refund. So I disputed the charge thru my Citibank Visa card. After two months , Acorn refused the refund and said their terms were very clear. I made the mistake and there was nothing they would do.
So now I will be cancelling my Anazon subscription to Acorn and subscribing to Britt Box and Acorn can suck donkey”d…s”.
