Comenity Bank is hands down the worst bank I’ve ever had to deal with. They don’t care about their customers, they don’t care about loyalty, and they definitely don’t care about providing real suppo... See more

BEWARE!
BEWARE...My experience was I bought two rings at two different times had 2 different promotional dates they applied my final payment to the second promotional code then charged me interest for the first ring that was supposed to be paid in full paid because of their mistake my second promotional code was now over also which was supposed to end 12/24. I paid the whole thing off and then they charged me another months interest for a total of $2394.43 which I should have never had. I filed a claim wrote a letter with multiple phone calls and they never rectified anything. Long story short I will never by anything from them ever again and they say I'm a valued customer shows how valued I really am.
Warning stay away! Fraudulent interest charges
Please stay far away from this lender! If you do not pay during the so called promotional period you will pay 29.99% apr for the whole 18 months. In my case I only owed $262 and they decided to add a bogus interest charge of $1415! Now I’m stuck with an account balance of $1667. I will go through lawyer as these interest charges are very fraudulent. As I mentioned earlier, stay away from these scammers.
Lots of fees, high interest, little customer service/empathy.
High late fees. No grace period. Extremely predatory interest rates, even if you have stellar credit. There is absolutely no reason to use them. Just about any other credit company is a better option. They took over an account that I had with a different company and made it considerably worse. Once this is paid I'll not only never use this account again, I'll never sign up for anything else they are involved in.
DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
I have been a customer of Comenity Bank for years. Their computer payment allocation system interfered with my payments, causing me not to cover the full balance within the promotional period, and I was hit with over $1500 in interest charges. I complained, but to no avail. I am closing the account and will not be doing any business with them anymore.
Late Fees added - Be careful and keep receipts!
In July 2023, I mailed a check to the company two weeks before the due date. I looked on the website for it to be credited to my account. When it was not, but a late fee was added, I followed up with a phone call. After an hour-long conversation, it was acknowledged that the payment had been received, and a "waiver" was applied, reversing the $30 late fee.
For one year, I have made payments in store, to ensure I had receipts of payment date.
In July 2024, I was again charged a late fee equal to the total of my previous bill, $20.72. I had made a payment, again in store, prior to the due date, but because a $2 "fee" was added at the last minute, my payment - which I thought to be in excess, because the amount owed was only $18.72 - ended up being .72 short.
After another hour spent on the phone with customer service personnel outside of the country and in US, I was definitively told no waiver could be assessed to reverse the "late fee" of $20.72 to my account, even though both representatives acknowledged that I made payments dutifully and on time for over a year. Both acknowledged the .72 was worth charging me a late fee, and that fee could not be reversed.
Most people would not waste time with a $20 overage. This waiver *could have* been applied because it the first time I was actually "in error." However, Comenity Bank is in seemingly in the business of ripping people off, not in the business of providing customer service.
This Bank is EXPANDING - they are taking over others' accounts. BEWARE and do not associate with them!!! Save every single receipt.
Never trust this credit card
Never trust this credit card. I opened it at Victoria's Secret store by mistake. I did not want to open this credit card, but the cashier offered it with a discount even though my purchase was only $44.95, not reaching the $50 to qualify for the bonus. I never received this credit card and made a payment by phone well before the due date. I even received a confirmation saying, "Your payment has been processed." However, after one month, I received a call from a private number, which seemed very suspicious, asking me to pay around $60 (I forget the exact amount). He said he had my information and could reduce the payment to around $30 if I agreed. Concerned, I called customer service and was told my first payment had been declined by my bank, so I had to pay all the late fees and interest that had accrued. I explained the situation and asked to just pay the $14.95, but they refused. So, I reported it to the CFPB, and they partially waived the fee to $15.44, but I still received a statement for $53.36. Indeed, this time I received it by mail. I called customer service again to confirm the payment and stated I would pay by check this time to keep a record of it. The representative told me I would incur another late fee if I paid by check, so I had to confirm my routing and checking numbers with her again. She told me she could not guarantee anything about the payment. She also mentioned there might be minor interest charges that I would need to watch for, even though I had already asked them to close the account. I requested them to send the statement by mail to two addresses, but they refused. Trust me, never open it; it is a disaster that you can't easily escape. I even suspect they purposely create late payments and then have someone call you every day from a private or spam number. They won't offer email contacts and limit phone calls to only payment-related functions. I hope someone with a legal background can expose them and put an end to this nefarious business.
Avoid these predators
Avoid these predators. Had an Academy Card issued by these people. I errantly missed one payment by a day. Always paid at my local Academy Store. Well later on they failed to process another on-time payment and I failed to keep my receipt from Academy. My bank showed nothing processed so they dinged me again. I paid the account in full in January and asked them to close the account. They verified via email my account was closed with a $0.00 balance. They have continued for 6 months to bill me on this closed account. I made a report to the BBB and they replied through the BBB that they don't handle complaints through them, I would be contacted directly by them. Within 2 days they retaliated by adding 2 more negative reports to my credit report. One 60 days late and one for 90 days late. No correspondence at all. I have written them with their confirmation email on the closed account attached. We'll see. If they don't straighten this out I will gladly drive to Ohio for a civil suit.
First private fraud
If there's less to a 1* rating that would be the choice. In response, says "first private fraud." Shame, there was no charge for a retailer.
Promotional sales will screw you
Promotional sales will get you in the end every time. Unless you're one of those people who look at every statement, be aware of the promotional sales. It will be your downfall going with this company.
They hate people!
They hate people!
$2.99/ mo for a paper bill was the last straw!
After filing a Better Business Bureau…
After filing a Better Business Bureau complaint against Comenity bank they refunded the 875.00 intrest fee they hit me with after their online banking system lured me past my zero financing deadline. I filed the complaint after their rude customer service department
refused to help me. Comenity's online payment system improperly lures Room Place customer's with zero financing into paying minimum payments that lead them passed their contract end date then socks them with a 30% interest fees. In my case I was hit with a 875.00 fee the day after the online system advised me that no minimum payment was due. Comenity bank's online system should honestly and correctly provide the true minimum payment due at the end of these zero financing loans. Don't say the minimum payment due is zero when it actually 100.00 or whatever the true balance is. I appreciate the bank refunding my money, but they must serve good paying customers better if they want to continue doing business with us.
Ulta/Comenity Bank is a scam
I took out an Ulta credit card one day at the counter because they told me I would get a discount on my purchase blah blah blah. So I paid my balance in full. I know how credit cards are so I actually called Ulta and asked them what my total balance was, including all interest and they gave me a I know how credit cards are so I actually called Ulta and asked them what my total balance was including all interest and they gave me an amount. I paid that amount in full while I had the person on the phone. Come to find out the following month. I had this two dollar “interest charge “. I asked the guy on the phone when I paid the bill in full What was the total amount of the balance and if there would be any other interest and he told me specifically NO. I thought it was good. A few weeks later, I get a bill for two dollars “interest “. I called them up and I explained that I had already paid the bill in full with their representative from Comenity Bank on the phone and they told me they waived that two dollar interest fee and I had a zero balance. OK, Two months later I get another bill in the mail saying that I owe $2.93 in interest and if I don’t pay it by , a date that passed by three days, I owe them $41 late fee. I called them up and told them to go to hell. I didn’t make any purchases on that card for two months after I paid it off and I had a zero balance so why in the hell were they charging me interest when I had a zero balance? This is complete BS!!!. I went through two managers who waived the initial two dollar , fake interest charge the first time. Then I had to call back two months later because I got another bill saying I owe $2.93. This is complete BS!!! . I made no purchases and I had no interest. I had a zero balance. For two months I had a zero balance. Comenity Bank is a bunch of scam artists. They Intentionally do this to try to get fees out of people for “interest fees” that they don’t owe. I’m not putting up with it. I canceled my credit card account and told them to stick their card up their ass and I made them send me something in writing telling me that I closed my account and I have a zero balance. I’m keeping that piece of paper and I’m nailing it to the wall. If they try to stick me with another $2.93 “interest fee “I’m going to stick that bill right up somebody’s ass sideways . And I’m not joking!!! B
Rude representative …
The customer representative from Comenity Bank was very rude, her name is Hope Jordan and due to her behavior I closed my card today. The bank should take strict actions against her. I apologized that I never received my statement for this month so it slipped from my mind to pay the bill and now I have been charged late fee on it. Is it possible to waive the fees one time as a courtesy sake, on top of it the representative said it is the customer's duty to pay the bill on time even if we aren't sending the statement (and her tone was very rude...)
Worst company …
Worst company I return a computer back to dell and they refused to dispute the charge and told me I need to make a payment to cover the $20 but I refuse and I haven’t received a full refund of $359 from this company yet
Liars and crooks
Liars and crooks! I paid my balance off on 12/31/2023. Over the next 5 months I was charged late fees and interest on those late fees. I called each month to resolve the issue and was told it was taken care of but it wasn't. I ended up having to pay 3 late fees and interest charges just to close the account and be done with these criminals. Never again!
!!!!!WARNING !!!!
!!!!!WARNING !!!!! STAY AWAY WORST COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH all they want is your money and they will get it anyway they can with all the random late fees and interest charges do yourself the biggest favor and stay away don't get sucked into this horrible horrible place there is no customer service just people who will day we can't do anything your screwed and have a nice day . The absolute worst place I have ever done business
They’re trying to get you to miss a payment …
I have a couple of store credit cards through community. It’s like they’re trying to get you to miss a payment. They send zero emails or communications that you’re bill is coming due and you don’t have a payment scheduled, they wait until they can charge you the late fee and then they call. I get that I should remember to check if I have a balance but I never carry balances so sometimes I miss one. Thanks to their lack of sending any communication, my near perfect credit score dropped over 60 points because of 1 missed 32 dollar credit card payment with zero emails or phone calls until it was too late
I spent $1500 at big on tires on four…
I spent $1500 at big on tires on four truck tires and four RV tires. Two of the RV tires blew out on a busy highway one month after purchase. I spent another $600 to replace the two tires. I explained I couldn't afford the payment that month and would be late. I was bombarded with calls daily. Even after I spoke with several people. Then I received a $40 late fee twice. Harassment calls were at least ten times a day, again, even after I answered several of them which is illegal.
RUDE!!!
RUDE!!!! The agent I talked with was very aggressive! I could hear the anger in his voice when I told him I couldn’t pay my balance at the time. He then continued to argue with me. I hung up in his face. Two different agents told me different things. He was very rude and ugly. I wish I would have gotten his name.
Comenity Bank is the worst
Comenity Bank is the worst. Closing all my accounts with them. They say they can't process my payments with my checking account number yet I have no other issues with online banking with any other company. They continually say they can't fix it on their end nor do they try to remedy it. They have the worst customer service and should be put out of business for consumer fraud.
