Happy customer for five years

We've been feeding our Spaniel with Able food for five years after choosing it because it was a top scorer in independent nutrition analysis. Overall it's been great. The dog loves it. Never had a problem with bones or defrosted food. Customer services have been helpful and effective, though have sometimes taken a couple of days to respond to messages. Deliveries have been very reliable. Would be nice if they eliminated polystyrene from their packaging - I know they were looking at this some time ago but still waiting for a change.

Defrosted food and puppy struggled with bones

We ordered a puppy pack and extra meals from Able but had a notification of a delay by the delivery company and it sadly arrived with most of it apart from packs in the very centre, defrosted.
Customer services did agree to resend more which arrived fine but they did imply that, as we were in Edinburgh, they couldn’t guarantee it would arrive frozen in future and sent us advice about refreezing it. With a brand new puppy we just didn’t feel comfortable feeding refrozen raw meat.
I thanked them for resending it and asked if they could please pass on a suggestion to the product team to add in some frozen cooler packs to help keep the food frozen but was met with an email of “unfortunately not”.
We then had an issue with our puppy being sick so we took him to the vets where an xray showed a build up of bones in his stomach from his food which required treatment. He had only eaten Able food and we were recommended to give our puppy food which was more mashed up than Able offers.
Our puppy did love the taste of the Able food and we thought it might suit him when he’s older and can handle the bones and chunks better if we could be comfortable with having to refreeze it but we have decided not to feed it to him for the foreseeable future.

We have been getting Able since the…

We have been getting Able since the summer. It arrives in pre packaged portions which we just defrost and serve, which is the reason we purchased. It has been faultless so far, we have extra space in the freezer which helps as we get two big boxes to save on delivery costs but freezer is an issue with lots of raw foods. Our dog just ate ear plugs, the vet read through the ingredient of the good food and was very happy with it, and with it being 'defra' approved (small silver lining!)

Very happy with the product and service

I have been using this food for my Labrador and Cocker Spaniel for a few years now and I can’t speak highly enough of them. I have had hiccups in the ordering but they are very responsive and do their best to help. They respond very quickly. The dogs are healthy and in excellent shape.

What is wrong with these people

What is wrong with these people? Great food but terrible customer service. They keep sending food and taking money but are not responding to get my subscription cancelled. I have a freezer overflowing with food and can’t get hold of anybody. They don’t answer emails or phone calls. Don’t subscribe to their food order it one box at the time !!

Paid for next day delivery nothing arrived emailed twice no response foods great customer service is none existent and the courier they use is even worse ours has gone 200 miles in the wrong direction according to dpd

Terrible customer service

I am wanting my cavapoo to switch to raw food. A friend recommended me able. I have 9 days already in the freezer to try but unfortunately my dog has been very ill so having to delay the switch. The customer service though is awful. You’re lucky if you get a reply from emails. You have to always send a reminder email and when you do get a reply they are not very friendly. I am now looking for another company and willing to throw all the food away as i have no confidence in this company.

Dogs love it but terrible customer service

We’ve been using Abel now for nearly three years. Our two dogs love it and it seems to keep them in tip top condition. Which is great.

So it’s a shame that we’ve decided to cancel our weekly subscription and go for another dog food supplier simply based on their terrible customer service.

They’re impossible to talk to. They have an answer phone line where you can leave a message but no one calls you back. We’ve left three this week.

We’ve had two deliveries where the boxes have been defrosted mush. On multiple occasions they have also messed up deliveries (food not arriving on schedule) and we’ve received emails on the day of expected arrival saying it’s not coming, which doesn’t really help.

Like so many other online reviews of Abel it seems their customer service really does let them down. And it’s been an issue for years which people complaining about the same “lack of communication” back in 2019.

Try harder guys. Your losing customers.

Food is fantastic, but unreliable when it comes to delivery

No issues with the food, the food is fantastic and our German Shepherd has been eating it for years.

But this year, we've had issues with most of the orders. Either they've been late, with no explanation why, they haven't been shipped when ordered due to stocking issues we weren't told about (really, they should send out what they have, and then follow with the out of stock foods or reimburse), or they sent out incorrect items (boxed incorrectly) that my GSD is allergic too, which caused health issues we'd not long gotten rid. All of the above has meant we've had to buy meats from stores nearby as a substitute, and I dread to think the amount it's cost us having to feed her "human food", especially with beef, chicken and lamb being as expensive as they are. You're looking at a minimum of £4 for a missed meal, and when it's happening almost every time we order, it turns into a lot of cash.

We were lucky enough to be able to place an order 4 days before she ran out a couple of months ago. It was missed, and so they had to send it out again. Because of this it arrived 2 days late. As we pay for next day delivery (ordered before 2pm) to UK mainland, we shouldn't need to have a contingency. It's starting to become so regular that we have come to the realisation that we need to order food a week in advance of when she is going to run out. But still pay for next day delivery. Bit of a sham really.

I'm really worried this is going to continue (we order monthly, and I can only remember 1 or 2 orders this year where there haven't been issues), and so we're looking for elsewhere to order from. Such a shame as our GSD loves the food.

It’s the best food you can buy period

It’s the best food you can buy period, it gets a 99% score on AllAboutDogFood for very good reason, the recipes are packed with the very best ingredients and lots of them, nutritionally there is nothing better to feed your dogs, I want the absolute best possible food for my dog and this is it, her coat literally shines, so glossy, her condition overall is exceptional, she’s full of energy, her stools are firm and small as she isn’t wasting any nutrients, my vets commented on her amazing condition and asked what i fed her, nothing makes you feel prouder than a vet congratulating your pride and joy, she’s been on it since 12weeks old, I’ve never had to contact customer services as there’s never been a single issue, fantastic product, exceptional quality and nutritionally brilliant, if you want the absolute best food available for your dogs then get this

From the start of March this company have gone downhill, didn’t get any tracking or delivery confirmation for March 1st order, and my order from five days ago didn’t turn up, no delivery confirmation and no tracking, I cannot recommend them any longer

used Able for a few months and my dog…

used Able for a few months and my dog loved it. after about 3-5 months, my dog doesnt like it at all - not sure why, he simply will not touch it. I am now looking for another company.
I see a few reviews about bad costomer service. I had a great experience with their customer service - a late delivery was replaced immediately.

Recue dogs love the food

Just started my two rescue dogs ( unsure of their breed) on Able, they absolutely love it! We like the prepared weight of the meal so no more weighing out and messyness.
We did have a small issue of the wrong order sent out but I emailed and they replyed the next day and quickly re ordered the correct batch.
Ive noticed my dogs are now looking forward to meal times and are licking the bowls clean which is not something they have done before.
I would say they are happier dogs than before.

Non-existent customer service is not an exaggeration

I've been using Able now for a while. Obviously you only really find out how good a company is when there is a problem. The food is great and my doggo loves it. Arrives frozen (sometimes) in individual meal packs.
However, today I have been waiting all day for a delivery with no joy at all from their choice of courier. Tried all avenues to contact the courier so decided to call Able direct to see if they could help. Apparently they are not taking any calls at the moment. All afternoon, they have not been taking any calls. You just have an option of leaving a voicemail message, where they give you no indication of how long it will take them to call you back. So now I have an expensive box of not so frozen dog food floating around somewhere with no one to help. Better off finding someone with a decent and contactable customer service.

I’m surprised at all the negative…

I’m surprised at all the negative customer service comments on here. I skipped a delivery with no problem and then decided to permanently cancel my orders (my dog went off the food). I was expecting problems, having read the comments on here, but emailed them and it was dealt with immediately.

Nothing wrong with the food quality but customer service and getting hold of them is horrendous. Supposed to have had a delivery the week of Xmas. Received the confirmation emails, they took the money, then nothing. Emailed three times and left numerous voice messages (they say they’ll call back asap) and still nothing. So I’ve cancelled my subscription via email and still nothing. How was my dog supposed to eat Able?? I’m rejecting todays delivery when it arrives and expect a full refund.

Shameful customer service

Shameful customer service
We have been regular customers of Able since June 2020, our dog was fed exclusively their raw.
On the last subscription reminder I have decided to skip the delivery for the month due to no space in the freezer and postponed it for 30 days, I made sure to check after I've done the changes that it was reflected on my account. Which it was. Imagine my surprise when I received a dispatch email to say that food is arriving the next day! I emailed the customer service to advice of the situation and asked them to stop the shipment as it was still in their possession.
They ignored my plea and handed the parcel to DHL.
I spend quite a few stressful hours after the delivery trying to find someone who could make use of some of the food so it doesn't go to waste. I paid £63 for something that my dog will not benefit from.
The CS rep basically accused me of making it up because their computer system had no record of the changes so I just made the whole thing up. Instead of trying to remedy the situation they cancelled my account. DISGUSTING way to treat customer of 14 months. Avoid and go elsewhere.

If you have a problem don't expect to speak to someone and get it resolved

We have only ordered once and the order was all wrong. You have the option to select the exact portion size you need per meal, which we did, but none of the meals received are the correct weight. We needed 350g and they range from 250g to 450g meaning what originally should have been an easy meal time, now means we have to ensure the correct food is given. Also because we ordered so much we have no idea if the overall weight is even what we paid for and we could have paid for more than we have received.
I have left 2 voicemails (as noone answers the phone) and 3 emails, and I received one email back offering another box of food which was never received and since then I have not received a response.
It's our first order, and while our dog is enjoying the food we are considering switching back to another provider whose customer service was exceptional, as Able clearly has no value in customer service.
