I have been trying to contacting 1340 for the past few months since the time I was contacted from Instagram.

This was 3 months ago. During this time I have registered uploaded images of my artwork and paid for the fees that this independent organisation had requested. This morning I tried to log in to the website to find that my email is not listed on the system. A message appears “Error: A user could not be found with this email address.” this was the same email address I registered and paid with.

I have read a lot of negative things about this organisation and winthin those 3 months and after this error of not being able to find my email on their website. I finally believe that this is some sort of scam. I doubt that many of these positive feedbacks are genuine. As many are reviewing the service and the non existent magazine I have been trying to find a purchase myself.

Lastly, I only noticed the inconsistencies on there website in terms of how 1340 addresses themselves. Are you a Gallery or a Foundation?

I submitted a piece and was featured on their Instagram, got lots of new followers and exposure for my artwork :)

The order was fulfilled fast and easy. Support lady was very good about keeping me updated. The painting arrived well packed and in good condition. Overall, it was an excellent purchasing experience.

Lots of things to improve

This website is filled with some great artwork, but the lacks in its ability to filter in a more granular way.

All in all, still a great platform.

Great source to discover new talent. keep up the good work. Inspires me to paint more.

Scam company. Taking advantage of new artists who just want their art to be seen.

They use a bot to watch hashtags and post on new images with low number of followers.

Notice all the 5 stars on this page are from randomized names and blank profile pics. It's sad that TrustPilot allows this, equally shady company.

I am an artist and I have my work on Instagram. They sent emailing me asking me to submit my work through a link. The first time I got this email I was thrilled to have been contacted! Unfortunately, The link took me to a page that said I had to PAY to submit my work for a POSSIBILITY of being featured! They have a “pay to play” model with a steep price tag. They are asking $20 for a single photo! I emailed them back saying I can’t pay for this and a few days later I got a nice email from “Lisa Harris, Curator 1340ART Magazine” apologizing and explaining the fee is some sort of mandatory donation and then she pointed me to their free submissions page. Great! I submitted and thought I was done...

But then they continued to send me the same boilerplate email that I received the first time asking me to pay. They sent it 4 more times over the next 2 weeks. They keep trying to ask me for money with the same template email. They put me on some sort of mailing list that I had to unsubscribe from. NOT COOL.

It started to feel like a scam, but they have an image at the bottom of their email signature showing a 8.8/10 trust score on Trustpilot. So I came to look. They lied. They actually have a 7.1/10- HUGE DIFFERENCE. So I googled. There are many forums on this group online and loads of artists feel they have been scammed. Check out Redit or do a google search.

If you look at the reviews, it seems the people who give good reviews are the people who PAY THEM for the magazine, not from the artists they are getting their content from. As an artist, I am very disappointed and feel set up. I rate them a 1 for trust since they were not straightforward about their model in their email or on Instagram. And they also keep spamming me with an email list I never signed up for.

Thank you 1340 art gallery. I was confused if its real, but i’ve got support from FB 1340art team. Now i can upload my artwork and who didnt get answer its because is sunday or they are too busy to answer fast, if you paid entry fee, you will recieve answer asap as I did. Looks like a scam to me...

Check out the other negative reviews on this page and the glowing recommendations they give themselves in order to counteract the negative reviews. This so called company has gone to some length to appear legit and its very convincing. 10/10 for deceptiveness...
They contacted me on Instagram but suddenly I need to pay in order to have work recognised. Just search 1340 on Instagram and other negative reviews online and you will see that they have many Instagram accounts all with different 'curators'. When I replied to the 2nd email they sent me I received an automatic message explaining that the email address for Lisa harris art curator doesn't even exist!

A excellent way to grow your art collection

I have some excellent experiences with 1340gallery. The customer service has been impeccable and the art selection in a range of prices and diverse genres is very impressive.

This is scam. They ask you for money in order to publish your artwork in their fake magazine that is only online and nobody reads it. Check other opinions in internet.

This is not a scam. They are only taking advantage of people who are desperate to have their art featured. There are thousands of "competitions" like this. They are making money because you give it to them. As simple as that. If you know your art is good you will not choose this way to be promoted.

This art collective has a demonstrable habit of luring young and emerging artists into naively paying for content features, by telling them they love their work and will feature it on Instagram for free, and then bait-and-switching after the initial submission to let these artists know that they are strongly encouraged to enter a contest on their platform for a monetary fee. There is no outward mention of this contest anywhere on their platform, with no Terms and Conditions surrounding the publishing and ownership rights to submitted work, and no promise of any potential prize or compensation (not even a physical copy of the magazine) that may result from paid submission.

This bait-and-switch is a predatory business practice that attempts to take advantage of emerging artists unfamiliar with common businesses practices in art, who actually believe they are fueling their career by paying for exposure - which, many claim in forums and public discussions, never becomes realized. If you're approached by anyone from 1340, know that they are pretty much just surviving on the charity of naive artists (both in cash and content), and they don't deserve your work on their platform.

Very responsive and easy to submit work. Only critique would be to have better descriptions of the artworks on the Instagram page. People seem to be confused as to whether my photo is a drawing or not. And that seems to make people think my photograph isn't art which is frustrating.

Delivery could be faster, but this is a great magazine. Ordered a subscription after receiving the first edition. Was discounted on the subscription price. Thank you guys!
