My experience with Mode Rentals was bad. Never again.

My experience with Mode Rentals was frustrating. We had an old car and the battery died during our rental period, which as such is not their fault, obviously something like this can happen. But the communication was offputting: when I first wrote to report battery weakness, it didn't seem they were taking it all too seriously (e-mail: "Mh, that's strange... we always service batteries between rentals...") and then when the battery did die two weeks later, their first concern was to let us know that if Road Assistance did not find any issues with the battery, we needed to foot the bill (the car wasn't starting!). We got the new battery put in, and when we asked about negotiating on our relocation fee because of the car hassles (we ended up changing our flight plans due to poor weather on the South Island), they wouldn't budge an inch on their policy. All in all, not a great experience. As said, the car was old, the GPS no good, the bluetooth function never kicked in (not compatible with iPhone17), so we had to navigate from phone only and no listening to music or podcasts possible.

Hello Goose, As discussed with you directly, the vehicle was returned to a different location due to weather conditions, and the applicable fee was charged in line with our standard terms. If you have travel insurance, you may wish to contact your provider to see if this cost can be recovered.
The vehicle selected was our older cheaper vehicle categories, which does not include GPS or Bluetooth functionality as standard, this is not advertised as part of that category. For customers who prefer these features, we do offer later model vehicle options.
We are sorry that you feel disappointed. We have reviewed the booking and can confirm it was managed in accordance with our terms and conditions.

Vorsicht

Vorsicht, Abzocke! Bloß nichts zahlen. Wenn nach einem rechtzeitigen Widerruf die Forderung nach den 129,95 Euro kommen, einfach cool bleiben. Laut Auskunft von der Rechtsschutzversicherung: Ohne Leistung kein Anspruch auf Gegenleistung, so einfach ist das.
