The apartment fails to meet the Catalan legal habitability requirements:
• bedroom smaller than the legal minimum,
• bathroom of 2 m² without ventilation,
• total surface only ~45 m² vs. 60 m² advertised (later changed to 55 m²),
• kitchen not as described, and mattresses in poor condition.
Despite providing photos and requesting the habitability certificate, Airbnb closed the case without requiring the host to prove compliance.
This demonstrates Airbnb Ireland UC maintains and benefits from listings without verifying their legality, while still collecting service fees from both host and guest.
I have officially filed a complaint with the Catalan housing and consumer authorities, and I will not authorize any further payments beyond Oct 12, 2025.

I booked an apartment in Barcelona through Airbnb and found serious discrepancies with the listing.
The property was advertised as 60 m², then changed to 55 m² after my complaint, but the real size is only about 45 m². The bathroom is extremely small (around 2 m², no ventilation), the mattresses are in bad hygienic condition, and the kitchen was not equipped as promised.
I provided photos and measurements, but Airbnb closed the case saying the listing was “consistent.”
This shows Airbnb does not properly verify listings and relies only on host statements.
I filed a formal complaint with the Catalan authorities. I will leave the apartment earlier than planned (Oct 12 instead of Nov 11).
Guests should be aware that Airbnb’s “AirCover” does not guarantee real protection when a listing does not meet legal habitability standards.

Airbnb collects fees from both guests and hosts, yet fails to provide real checks on listings. The so-called “internal verifications” with the host are marked as confidential and not shared with the guest, preventing any fair defense.

In the end, I had to escalate the case to the Catalan authorities and formally notify Airbnb’s European headquarters in Ireland via registered letter. Unfortunately, this shows that the platform protects hosts more than consumers.

La mia esperienza con Airbnb è stata molto deludente.
Ho prenotato un appartamento a Barcellona per due mesi, pubblicizzato come 60 m² ma in realtà misurava solo 45 m². Una stanza era inferiore ai 6 m², il bagno (2,36 m²) senza finestra era praticamente uno sgabuzzino e la cucina dichiarata “completamente attrezzata” non lo era affatto: ho dovuto acquistare pentole e utensili di base.
Ho segnalato tutto con foto e misure, ma Airbnb ha risposto che “le foto corrispondevano” e ha chiuso il reclamo senza soluzione.
Inoltre il prezzo su Airbnb (1.995 €/mese) era superiore a quello sul sito ufficiale dell’agenzia (1.680 €/mese).

Airbnb si limita a fare da intermediario, ma quando ci sono gravi discrepanze non tutela gli ospiti. Dopo questa esperienza, non mi sento di raccomandare la piattaforma.

Una de las habitaciones era inferior a 6 m², el baño (2,36 m²) sin ventana era prácticamente un trastero y la cocina, anunciada como “completamente equipada”, no lo estaba: tuve que comprar utensilios básicos para cocinar.
Envié fotos y medidas, pero Airbnb contestó que “las fotos coincidían” y cerró el caso sin darme ninguna solución.
Además, el precio en Airbnb (1.995 €/mes) era superior al que figuraba en la página oficial de la agencia (1.680 €/mes).

Airbnb actúa solo como intermediario, pero cuando existen discrepancias graves no protege a los huéspedes. Después de esta experiencia, no puedo recomendar la plataforma.


My experience with Airbnb has been very disappointing.
I booked an apartment in Barcelona for two months, advertised as 60 m² but in reality it was only 45 m². One of the bedrooms was less than 6 m², the bathroom (2.36 m²) with no window was basically a storage closet, and the kitchen, listed as “fully equipped”, was not: I had to buy basic cookware and utensils myself.

I reported all this with photos and measurements, but Airbnb replied that “the photos matched” and closed my claim without offering any solution.
Moreover, the price on Airbnb (€1,995/month) was higher than the same apartment listed on the official agency website (€1,680/month).

Airbnb acts only as an intermediary, but when there are serious discrepancies, they do not protect guests. After this experience, I cannot recommend the platform.

Servizio costoso e praticamente inutile. Non va sicuramente a vantaggio ne per i clienti i quali si sentono presi in giro ne per gli esercenti che devono spesso giustificarsi con i propri clienti per il comportamento poco trasparente del servizio.

I made the payment regularly but they keep saying that my bank did not accept it which is clearly false as I have the document certifying that the transaction was carried out correctly.
It's the first time I've tried this payment method, but it will also be the last.
Definitely stay away from this company if you value your money

Drei Monate nachdem ich den Vertrag gekündigt hatte, wurde mir immer noch ein Betrag für eine mit dem Vertrag verbundene Dienstleistung in Rechnung gestellt was ihrer Meinung nach separat hätte abgesagt werden müssen.
Sie bezahlen für nicht existierende Dinge.

I ordered a dishwasher on September 18th.
After 15 days of waiting I canceled the order and bought from another website (a restaurant cannot work without a dishwasher).
After several attempts to get the refund, I was informed that they could not cancel the order and therefore did not return the amount paid, without giving further explanation.
In my opinion it looks like a scam.
Be careful not to buy from these people.

Kaufen Sie nichts von diesem Lieferanten. Ich habe am 18. September eine Bestellung aufgegeben und nach 15 Tagen war sie immer noch nicht angekommen.
Ich habe um eine Stornierung und Rückerstattung gebeten und muss das Geld immer noch auf meinem Konto sehen.
