I was previously approached by Years and asked if I’d like to become an ambassador for them. I accepted because we had already tried quite a few of their treats and broths, which my dogs absolutely loved. We had never tried their food before, but as Years was a popular brand used by many people we knew, we had no reason to have any concerns.

We began the process of weaning our 2 dogs onto Years. We expected some loose stools initially, as you would with any change in diet, but after a couple of weeks their stools were still extremely loose and it was becoming concerning. We were reassured by others that it could simply take time for them to adjust.

Then our next bulk order of food arrived. I opened a fresh packet on the very same day it was delivered and immediately noticed spots of mould on the food and around the edges of the packet. I was extremely alarmed and naturally started to wonder whether this could have been contributing to my dogs’ ongoing stomach issues.

I contacted Years straight away. They apologised and reassured me that this was a one off and that they had never experienced the issue before. However, I then checked all of the other packets of food I had received (some of which were from a different batch), and to my shock, every single one had the same issue, with small spots of mould around the edges of the packaging.

I raised my concerns with other ambassadors in a group chat, only to be told that quite a few of them had experienced the same thing.

At that point, my dogs’ health and wellbeing had to come before anything else. I decided I could no longer be associated with the brand and stepped down as an ambassador.

In my email to Years, I made it very clear that all of the packets of food I had received appeared to have mould on them. What disappointed me even further was how little concern I felt was shown towards the issue. I was told that they had received no other reports of this happening, despite me being aware of other reports and seeing similar concerns raised in reviews.

For me, this was incredibly disappointing and seriously undermined my confidence in the brand.

I’m also uncomfortable with the sheer volume of new “signature” meals and products being released constantly when, in my experience, there were concerns with the basic quality and condition of the food I received.

There have also been more recent concerns raised by other dog owners about potential issues with their products and a certain ingredient severely affecting their eyes, which only adds to my reservations. I would encourage anyone considering feeding Years to do their own research and make an informed decision.

These are people’s beloved dogs — their family members. When it comes to something as important as what we feed them, I believe quality control, transparency and customer safety should be taken extremely seriously.

Unfortunately, based on my own experience, I cannot recommend Years or say that I have confidence in their products. For me, the trust simply isn’t there.

If I could rate lower than 1* I would. On March 7th I received a free sample pack of Years food, from Crufts. I fed this to my senior beagle. Within two days of consuming the food she developed a drooping eye, and swollen eye lid. She then suffered ongoing eye problems until the end of April where she also developed light sensitivity, and what seemed like a deterioration in her vision.

Back to the vets with her and they finally diagnosed her with KCS, dry eyes. This is a lifelong condition, treated with eye drops.

I have now found out that Years has been recalled due to links with dry eyes in dogs. ONE free sample packed has caused our girl to have a lifelong eye condition. I'm absolutely disgusted.

Our dog enjoys the food but they've had a prouduct recall due to the fact the buckwheat causes permanent eye issues. We noticed her pawing at her eye but put it down to allergies. I am absolutely disgusted that this company says they personalise the nutrition and it's all researched etc, when clearly they don't, it should have never been included at such quantities. I will avoid years like a plague now and I hope others do too, they've lost our trust and business. Dog's health and nutrition is no joke, so actually do. your job and do the research to find out what is best for our dogs.

Years didn't inform us that their food was linked to an increase in KCS (Dry Eye) cases. They informed us at 11pm last night instead of letting customers know back in March when they started their investigations. If they had been more forthcoming maybe my dog wouldn't now have dry eye and corneal damage!

THEY CHANGED A MAJOR INGRIEDIENT IN THE FORMULATION WITHOUT INFORMING THEIR CUSTOMERS!

RECEOIVED EMAIL EARLY HOURS OF THIS MORNING TO CONFIRM THEY ARE RECALLING THEIR PRODUCTS AND THAT THERE IS A LINK BETWEEN AN INGREDIENT THEY USE AND DRY EYE - HUNDREDS OF DOGS AFFECTED INCLUDING MINE.

Review edit - They changed the formula back in December 2025 to include buckwheat.

The grain itself is safe for dogs to eat IF cooked correctly. The bit that absolutely isn't safe is the leaf and stem.

The leaf and stem was used in the dog food. The swap from quinoa to buckwheat (buckwheat is about half the cost per kg) is where the problem came from.

This was a cost saving measure. The prices were not lowered. The savings for this change were not passed onto the customer.

What was passed onto the customer was vet bills and the pleasure of feeding our dogs LITERAL POISON for 8-9 months at the same premium price.

I had to fight for a refund instead of credit for a cancelled order. Just wait until the class action starts for the 8-9 months you made us pay to poison our pets!

Years appreciation post!

What can I say years is just an incredible company my 10 year old fussy border collie adores the food. Her stomach is known for being very sensitive and she can be a real fuss pot with her food. Not with years her digestion has never been better since switching she now drools with excitement for mealtimes. Another thing I love about years is the convenience as it is cupboard fresh so doesn't need to be stored in the freezer making it ideal as we travel in a campervan on adventures so we don't need to worry about storage. I also have piece of mind knowing she is getting everything she needs nutritionally in abundance. Everything is individually tailored to your dog and is already pre portioned based on their breed and activity level you can also state any health issues accordingly. Their treats and toppers are also top notch meaning she doesn't miss out on special treats just like us. I honestly can't recommend this company enough their customer service is amazing too.

Our eye specialist told us to avoid it at all costs! Yikes!!

I started feeding my dog Years after reading all the positive reviews.

Sadly in May she developed serious eye problems. Last week I started researching and discovered a post that described exactly the same condition as my dog has.

A week later we have a Facebook community of over 300 dogs and the only common factor between us is that they ALL eat Years food. Their illness started from April this year onwards.

Our vet and ophthalmologist told us to change food immediately.

Absolutely fantastic customer service and the best product for my pup

My 3-1/2 year old Golden Retriever has been happily eating Years for the best part of three years. He has Years in the morning and raw food in the afternoon. I've never had a problem with him refusing food, the quality is excellent and the variety of recipes means he doesn't get bored. There have been a couple of occasions when a tray has arrived damaged, but Years always offer a prompt replacement or credit. I was curious about the ambient storage at first, but my experience has been very good and Years is definitely the most appetising food I've ever used in 30+ years of dog ownership. The AI bots are annoying as they are with pretty much every company that uses them, but just ignore - Years will have a human respond in a very reasonable time.

Tried my dog on lots of food but after a few weeks, this one seems to agree with his tummy. Fingers crossed it also helps his skin…early days! Customer service team are efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.

The staff are extremely helpful and swift to act if any problems occur with deliverys.

My dog Teddy has always been a fussy eater but as soon as we tried Years dog food that all changed. He loves it, eats it all in one go and is always looking for more. Different flavours are great and the instructions on exactly how much to give based on weight, how active etc is really helpful

I am always informed when the food will arrive and food delivery comes on time. My dog loves the food and it is the only food after trying many others, dry and wet that doesn't go through her so no daiarrhoea any more.

Rio liked Years dog food itself. He ate it, didn’t think it was anything special but he ate it. He wasn’t impressed with the “free” Paella and all the fancy packaging to make it look like a box of chocolates, couldn’t quite understand the purpose. The packaging was too big and the individual compartments a faff to get the food out, then any remaining the container too big to store in the fridge so the “free” lids pointless. The personalised branding on each packet although a nice touch - not something i can justify paying for long term. Wasn’t sure why you needed The additional “free” supplements- why not just put it in the food - is the food lacking these nutrients? Rio would rather spend his money on food and toys not fancy personalised packaging that goes in the bin and marketing so unfortunately we can’t justify his subscription.
