Working with Zen Educate

Working with Zen Educate has been great so far! I absolutely love the Zen App system of booking jobs sent by the fantastic Zen team, and there are a good number of bookings to go round, but you have to be quick! (that's the part I love!). The team are also very friendly and always willing to help. I have had some awesome conversations with them and it is comforting to know that they are there to support and help. Thank you Zen Team! You guys are AWESOME! Keep doing what you do!

Misleading and disappointing process of selection of candidates

Please, first shortlist the candidates before starting to collect all their personal information. I feel my personal data is violated and can’t go back and delete it myself!
I was able to upload all my data, including references and even staring completing some courses, and after having the AI interview, I was rejected , because I didn’t have experience working with SEN children. Apparently that’s super essential to be a successful candidate for ZEN educate!
This is fine, but please, don’t let people share their personal information before you let them know what is needed to be a part of the app! So disappointed!

Thank you for your feedback. We’ve reached out to you twice via email (on May 15th and May 19th) to discuss your experience and offer a profile optimisation session, but as we haven’t heard back, we wanted to provide some clarity here for transparency.

While you registered five weeks ago, your profile was fully verified and eligible for bookings on April 30th. This means you had been active on the platform for approximately two weeks at the time of this review. Zen Educate operates on a supply and demand basis. We don't technically guarantee daily work because bookings are driven by the specific, real-time needs of schools in your area.

Assignments are matched based on a variety of factors including your specific qualifications, experience, distance settings, and your marked availability. During your first two weeks, we noted you were marked as available for four days; increasing your availability and widening your distance settings often significantly boosts visibility. Because school needs are often urgent, requests are sent to matched candidates and can be filled quickly.

We pride ourselves on the fact that there is plenty of work available, but success on the platform relies on a "match" between your profile and a school's specific requirements.

To be clear: a position being filled by another candidate is a standard part of any recruitment process and does not constitute fraud. We take such serious accusations very seriously, as they do not reflect the service we provide to thousands of educators.

Unreliable agency, avoid

Update: knocked down 1 star because I haven't even been paid on time! I don't agree with umbrella companies, but generate's website promises "100% on time payment, guaranteed". If they're going to deduct so much from your pay, you'd think they'd at least pay you on time. I can't even call them to chase up until Monday and Zen rarely answer phone calls.

It's been 2 weeks and the number of requests that come through aren't sufficient. You can forget about working to get your DBS refunded after 10 bookings - its impossible to get any work!

I like the app experience as it makes receiving reply requests easy and convenient, however the requests from schools go EXTREMELY fast - within 30 seconds. I don’t feel there’s guaranteed work so you would definitely have to sign up to another agency.

It’s extremely difficult to get into contact with zen through phone, app when my recruitment officer stopped replying to my emails, it was hard to get in touch with anyone. When I finally did, explaining I wanted a child only DBS (some schools and agencies do not accept child & adult DBS, which Zen create) I was assured this would be put on file, but it didn’t - I had to get another DBS created with another agency.

When I have gotten through to staff, they are genuinely friendly and helpful. Hopefully my experience gets better with time.

We have reached out to you multiple times via email to ensure you are happy with the outcome. As we haven't heard back, we believe that everything is now fully resolved. As mentioned in our direct email, there was a minor administrative error regarding your payment; however, once our team was notified, we investigated immediately and the funds were paid in full within 72 hours.

To address your other points: You are completely right - requests from schools go extremely fast! Because our system operates on a first-come, first-served basis, roles are secured quickly. To give yourself the best chance, we recommend keeping your preferences updated and notifications on so you can accept requests the moment they appear.

We standardly process the Child & Adult DBS because it provides you with a much wider scope for work. It clears you for SEN schools, colleges, and settings with 18+ students, whereas a Child-Only DBS strictly limits your placement options. Because this check offers more clearance, it is highly unusual for a school or agency to reject it.

While we apologise for the initial difficulty in getting through, we pride ourselves on our responsiveness once an issue is raised. We’re glad to have you on the platform and are here to support you. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to our latest email.

I would like to give a huge thank you to Hannah from the Zen Edictae customer support team. She has been absolutely outstanding throughout every interaction I’ve had with her.

Hannah was incredibly helpful, professional, and efficient in resolving all of my issues without any fuss or unnecessary delays. She made the whole process smooth and stress-free, always communicating clearly and showing genuine care in making sure everything was sorted properly.

It’s rare to come across customer support of this quality these days, and Hannah truly went above and beyond. She is a real asset to the company and fully deserves recognition for her hard work and dedication -honestly, she deserves a raise!

Working for Zen Educate

I really enjoyed my experience working for Zen Educate. The staff are so lovely and friendly and they are always willing to help! Matilda was such a joy to talk to she was very friendly, chatty and extremely helpful she helped me a lot with the whole process of my DBS and helped much more after. Shannon was very helpful and kind I unfortunately didn't get to speak to Shannon much but when I did she was lovely she also helped me a lot with any questions I had. Charlie was also very helpful, chatty and kind he would help me a lot with the navigation/time to the school. all three always made sure to ask how I am Overall the staff I have spoken to have been amazing they are very dedicated to helping you in the best way they can. The application process took awhile as the DBS takes some time to come back however it is all definitely worth it. My interview was one of the best! Matilda was the person who did my interview and she made me feel so much calmer and she chatted to me which made me feel a lot better for the interview. The only issue I had was I was not getting called into work as often so some weeks I wouldn't work at all for a long period of time, however I do understand that the agency is a zero hour contract. Overall my experience working for Zen Educate has been amazing and the Staff have helped through every step and supported me they are very supportive and extremely kind!
