Terrible bank
Terrible bank, appalling customer service. Trying to be modern and relevant but failing in so many ways. Having a bright shiny store does not replace the lack of staff training, poor systems, and ongoing complaints from customers. I read the negative reviews before trying to open an account but proceeded (well attempted to) open an account. Cost me a £15 rail fare to try and still failed as their systems where down for over 8 hours. Promises not for-filled after weeks waiting. Not a bank I could ever recommend. Opened an account with Monzo in 5 mins whilst trying to get through to their complaints team for the second time. Doubt this brand will exist unless major changes are made, which is probably unlikely.
Online service is appalling
Online service is appalling, trying to logon get error messages "Sorry we're no longer able to assist you online" - very poor wording, sounds permanent! - or if you get past that "Sorry we couldn't verify your details" or if you finally get far enough "Sorry something's gone wrong". You're not kidding. This is not a one-off, it happens 90% of the time, regardless of day or time. Today I'm trying to pay with my YB Visa and it cannot be verified "The server is taking too long to respond".
So I've ended up using a card from another bank. I've been with YB a very long time but after months of frustration this is the last straw. Time to switch everything to another bank, one from this century.
Great Banking Facilities!
I recently applied for 2 Readycash accounts and 3 savings accounts. However a hold was put on all 5 of my accounts. The fraud team advised me that there is a lot of identity fraud and that I need to visit my local branch to provide them with ID. I did just that and my accounts were taken off hold. To be able to use 2 Readycash accounts; one for everyday spending/income and the other for bills and extra payments, is just great! I can't have more than one basic bank account with any other banks unfortunately so it's nice that Yorkshire Bank offer the Readycash option. I highly recommend this bank!
Balance Transfer Credit Card - NOT RECOMMENDED
I tried to set up a balance transfer credit card and went through the online process up to a point where I couldn't finalise the set up. I have Microsoft Edge as a browser. After a number of calls to Yorkshire/ Clydesdale Bank, I was told that it's IT system had faults that wouldn't allow me to complete the process though Edge and I should use Google Chrome! When it came to arranging the balance transfer onto the new YB Gold card, the IT system failed again. Having talked with the YB contact centre, I have cancelled the new card. If it's IT systems can't work at the set up stage...….I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED THE REVIEWS!
Went to branch for some services in…
Went to branch for some services in Leeds city centre branch. Staff so unprofessional and not equipped with proper information. Saw three staff members and everyone tells different story.and was rude including branch manager. Decided to change the bank. Not going there again. They are forgetting there are lots of options available to public.
BANK SOMEWHERE ELSE !
BANK SOMEWHERE ELSE !
Seriously. Anywhere but here. I switched my business account and I will be switching back to my old bank.
I haven't been able to log onto online banking for nearly five weeks. The answer I got was to run my account from the phone app. For a business! I told them that I need to download account transactions to import into my accounting software. That just went over their head.
I went into branch, (B-Works in Manchester) and although the staff there were helpful, nothing was actually achieved. Nearly six weeks on and I can't get access to my online account.
Customer service is useless.
Read all the other reviews. This is a really, really poor service
I have found the online website easy to…
I have found the online website easy to use and better than previous release. I cannot comment on the Banking app as I do not wish to install on my phone, along with the financial cap on saving and moving large amount of money is invonvenenty and either paying for it to be moved electronically or relying on cheques. do the I.T chaps of any organization read these reports since the problems so to carry on
slow ineffective business acount set up
It took them over two weeks to open my business account (their site said it would take 5 working days), then their system didn't activate online banking and I was told I had to use the account and fill in a form with a witnessed signature to get access to view my account online.
I repeatedly rang and either no one answered (a message asked me to call another time!), they hung up on me, or they couldn't help.
The staff are very apologetic and polite but their system is clearly flawed. I complained, asking for help to sort it, and no one replied!
After several frustrating weeks, I've closed the account and will bank elsewhere.
Keep being locked out of ap
I have around £20K on my two ap accounts. I’m incensed that I can’t access my account as it keeps locking me out. I’ve phoned the bank twice in three days but no one has called me back.
Not any good
Have just tried to open the ybonline app, got through to being enrolled, then asked for my" 6 digit personal numbe"r which I have never had or at least have never used if I had so clicked on reset,
filled it all in, and when asked to input new number lo and behold it would not recognise it! Guess I will use another bank for online banking, hope YB never give up cheques! If they do good bye as this online crap will not do.
I have tried the help line and was promised an email showing me how to do it but not arrived.
Had lots of trouble logging in
Had lots of trouble logging in to YB. Help desk just said that I must have typed my PW in wrong and it was not their problem. I had a 10 digit PW and it would often ask for digits 11 to 16.???
In the end I changed my PW to a 16 digit word and it all worked OK.
We decided to switch our small business…
We decided to switch our small business account to Yorkshire bank as they offered 25 months free banking. This is what has happened so far.
First tried to sign up online using their 'simple' application process. Didn't work so..
Rang helpline who put us through to an automated voice without an option addressing our problem. Tried to sign up again, didn’t work so..
Rang helpline again and was told it was most likely our Firefox browser and to use Chrome, tried chrome, didn't work.
Made an appointment for two weeks later at branch in Leeds who set the account up there.
Once home, tried to set up internet banking, couldn't so..
Rang helpline who told us to set up telephone banking first and then we'd be able to access internet banking, we set that up and still couldn't set up internet banking so..
Rang helpline and was told that it was set up but we had to reset it with a new access code. Did that but still couldn't access it so..
Rang helpline and was told that if we downloaded the app we could sign on to internet banking with that and it would become available online afterwards, she said that this was a workaround (why do they need one?)
Did that and Yes! was able to get onto internet banking. Came to it several days later just before official switch date to check everything was ready and couldn't log in so..
Rang helpline and was told to input our four digit access code for security, that wasn’t accepted and then was told that for some reason the system wasn't letting her see our account but that someone would ring us back to sort this out, this was on a morning, we waited all day, no-one rang. Next day we still couldn't login so..
Rang helpline who told us that our account was locked and that we must have input the wrong security information, we told them that our access code hadn’t been accepted so were taken through resetting it. After we had input the information the line cut and we couldn’t continue with the operative so..
Rang helpline again and told them what had happened she told us that we should be able to log on now as the account was unlocked. I asked if it was Internet banking or Business internet banking we should use as I had noticed there were two different logins (we signed up as a business) She said it should be Business internet banking. She passed us on to another operative who to be honest sounded like she didn’t really want to be talking to us. I asked her to verify if it was Internet banking or Business internet banking as I didn’t want to make a mistake and she said Internet banking, when I said that the other operative had said differently she seemed put out. I also told her about the workaround that we had used many attempts ago and she said she had never heard of it. She said the input information was case sensitive and suggested we’d input the data wrongly (we have it written down so that we don’t). When we got off the line we tried again and received a six digit code via phone which we used and were able to login. While in the account I decided to reset the password and security questions very carefully. Once reset, the page wouldn’t move back to the main account page so I hit the back button and found we were logged out. I tried to login using the updated security information (the same information as before co-incidentally) and couldn’t.
What would you do now?
Online banking questions
Online banking questions - a joke! These questions they ask can change weekly
What is your favourite flim?
What is your favourite restaurant
etc etc
Instead of questions which never change, ie
Mother's maternal grandfather's name
First school attended
etc etc
I have mentioned this to staff but nobody is interested but continue with these questions which are so vague. Improve your customer relations, it is at the moment dreadful
Absolutely appalling transaction…
Absolutely appalling transaction processing speed never know where your up to with balances appalling
you're not kidding
you're not kidding. I loved the old site and the little Remote Acccess RAS Card that gave you a random number to input on line. Did hundreds of transactions with no issues all over Europe and UK. My phone wont support the app on the new site (the new site is like comparing the old site (War and Peace by Tolstoy) to the new site (Jack and Jill by ladybird). I was set up for Phone Banking - had to split payment in to 2 due to 5k limit - did transaction - then had fraud call and had to go through that before payment was sent (don't mind that as it gives confidence in security) but when I call to do second part today today "your telephone banking has been suspended" - why "because you were referred to fraud". I feel sorry for the people on the phone, they try to help. So I reset telephone banking as they instructed, keyed in usual 10 and 4 digit codes and a new 10 digit code, set up the new payment (which has a Payee Number set up yesterday) - says at end "payment will go via Fastpay....hoorah - no call from Fraud after so I'm thinking fantastic. Happen to check online 6 hours later and at side is a clock - click on clock and it says "payment is still being processed" - 6 hours later....I suspect and fear its sat in a Fraud queue again and will mean more calls tomorrow. PLEASE bring back the old site, it worked, it was reliable, it was understandable, please bring back the old RAS Card it worked like a dream....this needs sorting - I'll be moving bank asap
YB online banking disaster zone
I'm fed up of watching the rotating icon and never accessing my details.
If you do manage to get in and often it's several attempts over several days you then try to set a payment up and get internal server error, I end up using my phone app.
It's really not acceptable, please sort it out
The Yorkshire Bank web site is poor
The Yorkshire Bank web site is poor, it often takes three or four attempts to log in to it. Sitting watching a circle going round and round is more than a little frustrating.
Looking at all the poor reviews I would have thought that YB would have sorted it out by now.
Terrible waste of time
Terrible. I cannot send money via the app, the website doesn't give any option to send money. I go through the automated telephone system and it tells me the payment has failed. I call them up and they can't do it over the phone. I spent over two hours doing all these things and then explaining I will leave the bank. They tell me no one else has been having this issue. I referred to this page to see that is totally incorrect and their website devs and testers should be sacked. Rant over, test your systems before you take the old one offline, basic stuff.
When is YB going to sort their new…
When is YB going to sort their new website out. 89% rated it bad but Yb seem unconcerned.
Badly thought out and not fit for it's purpose
Like many rural properties mine doesn't have a have a street address. To log in, unless you can remember your 10 digit customer number, the site insists you must enter a street name so then I don't get past the first page. Now I find they have cancelled all the old keypad tokens without telling me and without issuing replacements. Now when I urgently need to, I can't move money without first applying for a new token or installing more of their rubbish software on my phone which as I don't always have a signal I'm not willing make myself reliant on.
