Wren kitchen surveyor experience

P Dyche, the surveyor was pleasant, polite and kept us informed about what he was there to do. He informed us of the next steps in the process and was very happy to answer any questions that we had.

Wren, Drakehouse.

We called into the Drakehouse store in Sheffield to see the styles of fitted bedroom furniture available. Explanations were given about the different styles of fitted furniture on display in store. We arranged a measure appointment for the following Tuesday. Communication was excellent and Ryan arrived bang on time to measure our bedroom, he even called me to say he’d arrived so that I could put my dog in her crate as she’s very bouncy. Ryan was with us for half an hour measuring our room and has sent the dimensions to our designer ready for our design appointment on Saturday. So far our Wren experience has been excellent.

The surveyor, J Taylor seemed almost like a friend!

Wren sent out their surveyor, Jordan Taylor, very promptly. He was very friendly and easygoing while at the same he very carefully and conscientiously took all the measurements for my kitchen. By coincidence an engineer from another company visited at the same time about a different issue and while I have no complaint about the engineer, there was quite a contrast, Jordan was so easy to talk to, like talking to a friend.

Avoid Wren Kitchens

Avoid Wren Kitchens – the most stressful home improvement experience I’ve ever had.

This is only the second kitchen I’ve ever bought in my life. My first experience was 23 years ago with a small local family company. We were young students with very little experience, yet everything was organised perfectly from beginning to end. There were no mistakes, no excuses, and no stress.

Unfortunately, my experience with Wren Kitchens Watford has been the complete opposite.

At the beginning, everything looked amazing. During the showroom appointment, the sales team, including Sunny, spent a lot of time with us, showing us different designs and making us feel like valued customers. The presentation was excellent, and we were so impressed that we paid a £5,000 deposit immediately.

We were assured that Wren would organise everything and provide experienced professionals. We trusted them completely.

The problems started almost immediately.

The first surveyor was supposed to visit our home. My partner took a day off work and waited all day. Nobody came. Nobody even bothered to call us. The following day we were simply told that the surveyor had mixed up the dates. Not even a proper apology.

Although I already had a bad feeling, our coordinator Victoria reassured us that everything would be fine.

It wasn’t.

Our kitchen, flooring, appliances and installation were all ordered through Wren. Delivery arrived on 22 June, and installation started on 29 June.

The fitter, George, always seemed to be rushing. From the first day, it was obvious that he wasn’t treating our home or our new kitchen with care. Ladders were moved roughly, doors were handled carelessly, and several cabinet doors were damaged during installation and had to be reordered.

The biggest issue was the worktop.

The joints between the worktop sections were completely uneven. One side sat higher than the other, meaning every time I wiped the surface my hand caught on the raised edge. This is not an acceptable finish for an expensive kitchen.

When I pointed this out, George became defensive and clearly didn’t appreciate being told that his work was below standard. His attitude became aggressive enough that I decided to stop discussing it with him and asked him to speak with my partner instead.

Instead of fixing the problem properly, George attempted to polish the joints so aggressively that he actually destroyed the surface finish of the worktop. We specifically ordered a textured worktop. After his “repair”, the areas around the joints became completely smooth because he had polished away the original finish.

At that point my partner contacted Wren to complain. We simply asked one question:

How can a company charging this much money send someone who clearly doesn’t know how to install a worktop properly?

The following morning George arrived, angrily packed up his tools without even saying goodbye, and walked off the job, leaving us with an unfinished kitchen.

Today is 15 July, and we still don’t have a working kitchen.

We can’t cook.

We can’t wash dishes properly.

We’re washing cups and plates in the bathroom sink.

We’re spending money on Uber Eats because we have no usable kitchen.

Our house renovation cannot continue because everything depends on the kitchen being finished.

I even left home for a week hoping everything would be completed by the time I returned. Nothing had changed.

We were promised a replacement worktop on 15 July. Only one section arrived, despite the worktop requiring two sections. We were then told that we would have to pay for the second piece because of the way the order had supposedly been entered.

Why should we pay for Wren’s mistake?

Why should customers pay because Wren hires contractors who are not capable of completing the job properly?

The second part of the worktop is now not expected until 29 July. That means we will have been without a proper kitchen for around a month.

The emotional stress this has caused has been enormous. I genuinely don’t even want to come home anymore because every day I am reminded that our kitchen is still unfinished.

The biggest disappointment isn’t just the poor workmanship. It’s the complete lack of ownership and customer care once the contract is signed and the money has been paid.

Before you sign with Wren Kitchens, ask yourself one question:

What happens if something goes wrong?

Because based on our experience, that’s when you’ll discover what their customer service is really like.

I would never choose Wren Kitchens again, regardless of the price. What started as an exciting home project has become one of the most stressful experiences we’ve ever had.

Poor all round sevice…

I am really disappointed with my Wren kitchen
Due to the high cost of their staff fitting the kitchen, I chose an independent fitters and the first unit they unpacked had a fault and it took 2 weeks for a replacement to be delivered
There was also a dent in the cooker which took 3 weeks to be replaced
On eventually starting to fit the cupboards, the fitters found that the measurements on the paper plan were different from the actual room measurements, then there was a fault on one of the filler panels
Today we have discovered that the sink is the wrong size
So - obviously, on this experience, I would not recommend the company at all
