Stole over 70k words I pre-paid for (Over $4,000)

When I signed up for Word Agents years ago in 2020, their policy clearly stated that our credits do not expire. Their quality started going downhill as they began incorporating AI content into the so-called human-written content that I was paying for.

So I was paying a premium for AI-written content that somehow was even worse than most AI content.

Here's the real problem though...

I had well over 70,000 words I pre-paid for, which in money terms is about $4,000 that they just STOLE from me!

I paused my subscription because the terms said my words never expire. So naturally, I assumed I could come back and order content as needed - which I hadn't done in a while because the quality is terrible.

Well, I logged into my account recently and saw that I had zero words in my balance. So I emailed Word Agents, assuming this was a simple glitch, and they said, "Well, they expired, and we tried to contact you."

So I dug into my email, they sent one single email just before the words expired that went straight to my spam folder. They have all of my contact information, and purposely made zero real attempts to contact me.

In short, I absolutely would stay away from this company.

First of all, their quality is garbage. Their content is filled with information that is so wildly off-base, it's hard to imagine how they got there. We had to literally rewrite the last 40 or 50 posts that they sent to us - which is why I paused my subscription. And then on top of that, stealing $4,000 from me and not making an effort to contact me.

It's just criminal, in my opinion, and the opinions of many, many other people. I will be leaving one-star reviews everywhere I can, including all social media platforms and Reddit.

I've also purchased a program where I can track any mentions of wordagents. So when someone asks about them, I'll be notified immediately and I've set up an AI flow that will immediately comment letting them know that this company is a scam.

They've ripped off far too many people, stolen hundreds of thousands of words and likely tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars from their clients doing the exact same thing they did to me. I hope we can all get together and sue this POS company - although something tells me they don't have the money to pay us back...

My reply to wordagents:
1. Quality is abhorrent - look it up
2. It was so bad that we blacklisted multiple writers then it just became easier to write it ourselves rather than waiting another week for more garbage content.
3. Never notified about the expiration or, if I was, it certainly wasn't a real effort. Kind of like a single spam email telling me the credits are expiring (that I never received).
4. Regarding the article complaint back in May 2023 - it was my PM who messaged and yes, you had 38 articles that were over a month late and still not picked up by your writers.
5. Yes, I could have switched. But I had TONS (thousands of dollars) of content I already pre-paid for - so I paused the membership until a later date where I had hoped you guys would fix the terrible content quality and I could once again use your service to fulfill on the words I had already paid for.
6. Abusive language lol. I sent an email with the subject link: "WhereTF did my 71,000 words go???" - not very abusive in my opinion considering the fact that you literally stole from me.
7. You're proposed solution is that I re-subscribe and re-sign up for a new package, spending well over $1,000 per month in order to get some of my words back each month. SO...let me get this straight...you want me to pay you more money to get back what I already paid you for? And you think that's reasonable?
8. You accusing your old customers - people YOU wronged of being unwilling to accept responsibility for our actions is RICH! This coming from the guy that - changed policy in the middle of the night and alerting no-one, then sends one half baked spam email to say your credits are expiring, then does absolutely NOTHING to make it right - this is the guy saying we're irresponsible?

Legally speaking, when I signed up, my contract said words never expire. You're contractually obligated to honor that promise. Subsequent notice of a change in this policy requires both clear notice and acceptance by clients to be enforceable.

Forcing clients to pay a second time for credits already purchased could definitely be considered an unfair or deceptive business practice.

Finally, you can keep saying it's the users, but we're all saying the same things - you stole thousands of dollars from all of us without reasonable notice or attempts to contact. NONE of us would have just let that amount of words and money go to zero. I'd have let you write over 70,000 words of crap I throw away before just giving up $4k. Maybe you should take responsibility and stop pointing at everyone else...

WordAgents applied a word expiration policy to this reviewer that was rolled out and announced in 2022. Our Client Success Manager didn't have to proactively reach out to warn the reviewer that his words were about to expire, but did so anyway, then waited a month before expiring the words. So, we were far more lenient than we had to be.

On quality, judge it for yourselves on the WordAgents blog or look at reviews by clients with recent experiences.

The most recent work we did for this reviewer was in July 2024. Looking back through the ticket system, I see that this reviewer complained that we were behind in deliveries for him from Nov/Dec 2022 - May 2023. We compensated the reviewer for the delays he experienced. But I couldn't find complaints about quality at all. Plus, we offer free revisions if they're requested promptly, and we develop client-specific guidance to avoid making the same mistake twice.

There's a different story to be told from the ticket system as to the reason for this reviewer having paused his subscription. Out of respect for our clients' privacy, we'll say no more on that.

The reviewer could have switched to a different provider at any point since 2020. From the history of his relationship with WordAgents, a reasonable person might think that he was satisfied...until one day, he didn't get sufficiently preferential treatment and WordAgents didn't cave in response to his abusive, threatening behavior.

Normally we like to maintain relationships with our clients and work through problems / offer solutions. But I see a pattern of abusive language in the ticket system. Our team doesn't deserve that, and it fits with the vindictive nature exhibited in the reviewer's stated plan to run an anti-WordAgents campaign powered by AI -- all because the reviewer is unwilling to accept responsibility for his own inaction which led his word balance to expire, in accordance with a policy that has been in place for years. This reviewer is not welcome back.

Reply to the updated review:
WordAgents sold in late April 2024. It's legally a different entity than it was in 2020, when this reviewer first subscribed and in 2022, when word credits stopped being offered with no expiration. It would be a former owner of the previous legal entity who allegedly changed the word credit expiration policy without proper notice.

The reviewer undercuts his own claim that the current WordAgents has done nothing to make the situation right. We offered that by starting a new subscription, we would allow the reviewer to gradually recover word credits that he had no right to in the first place (because they expired), even though payments for those credits left the business with the previous owner. The offer amounted to a generous discount, but not generous enough for this reviewer, who apparently would only be satisfied by the current WordAgents providing services for free.

Scam, avoid at all costs

Like many others, I too have had my credits stolen from my account, and then told I could have them back by buying MORE credits.

When I initially signed up, their terms and conditions explicitly stated your credits and account would never expire. Later they decided to change this, and enforce the change on all their customers, regardless of whether they actually agreed to the new terms or not. And no warning about the change either. Illegal and unethical.

There's a lot of competition in the copywriting space, and I urge anyone on the hunt for an agency to AVOID these thieves like the plague. You can do far better.

This reviewer threatened to denigrate the reputation of this business unless we offered to restore the value of credits which he purchased from the company previously operating wordagents.com and which expired following a change to the terms and conditions made by the leaders of the previous company, a notice issued about that change, and a year of inactivity on the part of this reviewer.

Although under no obligation to offer any inducements or favors to this reviewer of any kind -- since the basis of his complaint is a change in the terms and conditions made by a legally distinct business years ago -- we offered him special pricing. That seems to have been a mistake. Now, the generosity we offered is twisted into part of this reviewer's complaint.

I'm not defending the decision by the previous company to change their terms and conditions or deem credits to be expired. But those actions weren't taken by this business. What this business did (and what triggered this reviewer's complaint now instead of two years ago) is not cave in to this reviewer's demand to give him free services, under threat of him submitting negative reviews about this business.

It's like visiting a barbershop and being angry at not being offered a free haircut, but instead a buy-one-get-one free deal, then going off in a huff and writing a negative review about the barber for not working for free.

Our writers and editors are doing great work these days. I'm the owner of this business and I'm all about meeting my ethical and legal obligations.

New Owner is not Honoring the Old Owner's Scams

This is a response to my earlier post/experience to the alleged "new" owner's comment. It is effortless for the site owner to claim it is a new owner. First, users/writers have no way of corroborating that the owner has actually changed. Second, why do we care if there is a change? If you are the new owner, as the new owner acquiring a company, you should face the issues, business decisions, debts, etc., the "previous" owner had. If you didn't do proper due diligence, it's your fault, not ours. OWN YOUR MISTAKES! Cleaning up after the "old" owner is good business.

Hi Daniel, I acknowledge your position that as the current owner of the assets formerly owned by a different company, WordAgents, Inc., I should be responsible for the liabilities of the other company. Legally, that's now how it works, but I realize that to customers, that may not be an acceptable excuse. It must seem to you and others with similar experiences like I'm dodging responsibility using a legal trick. Trickery wasn't a motive for me in the deal. Honoring my commitments is very important to me.

I looked into your complaint and found that your most recent experience is from March 2024. So, with the other company. Therefore, I'm requesting that you modify your review based on the Trustpilot reason "it's harmful or illegal, defamation." Your claim may cause serious financial loss to my business and serious harm to my reputation. Additionally, your review should be modified based on Trustpilot reason "it's about a different business." Your review is about your experience with WordAgents, Inc., which is different than the business now using wordagents.com and known as WordAgents.

Money you paid in exchange for the credits you had was extracted by the previous owner from the business before the assets of the business transferred to me. So to honor your credits, I'd be agreeing to pay our writers to work, but have no revenue with which to pay them.

Assuming that the substance of your allegations (unspecified in your review here, but I see your review from March 2024) is true, then I would encourage you to direct them against the previous owner, instead of joining in on a bash session targeting someone else. I sincerely wish you a fair outcome.

Hi Garrett, I acquired the company after your credits "magically vanished." I was unaware before the acquisition that this zeroing out of credits without notice was allegedly being done.

I acquired the assets of WordAgents but not the liabilities, using an asset purchase agreement, which is the typical way small businesses are bought and sold in the US.

You may have a valid legal case against the previous owner(s). Assuming your claim is true, the one-star review is deserved, but it should apply to the former WordAgents Inc., not the current one, which is technically a different company.

I understand you want to punish someone for the awful experience you've had, but all you're accomplishing with this review is to punish me and others part of the company now, none of whom were responsible for your experience. You're not punishing the responsible (alleged) party.

STAY AWAY - Far Away!

I had a balance of around $1500 in my Wordagent account, which I had purchased during their year-end deals. I hadn't used it yet because I was trying to figure out how best to use their "new system." Despite reaching out to someone named Marek multiple times for assistance, I never received any answers.

This week, when I went to order some content, I discovered my account balance was completely gone. And this was credits that were "lifetime" and not to expire. When I inquired about it, Marek suddenly became responsive and stated, "There is absolutely nothing that I can offer you in terms of the resolution."

WOW – I understand the company has been facing issues and losing clients, but I never expected something like this from a content provider.

Bottom line – I'm exploring legal options with my attorney. I HIGHLY recommend you take your content business elsewhere. There are plenty of awesome providers who are more affordable, won't rip you off, and aren't dealing with the issues this company clearly is.

UPDATE: I'm laughing about the response that they posted months after they ripped me off. Reality is that the people and system are all the same. So the results and actions are from the same people. Still 110% recommendation that they are a HARD pass as there are other options that are better, more affordable and take care of their clients.

Scams users & doesn't answer to support tickets anymore

I had around 200k unused credits which I bought when the policy was that the credits NEVER expire as long as you log into your account once a year.

Lo and behold, they changed this policy WITHOUT ANNOUNCING it to customers anywhere, and when I logged to my account after few months of inactivity, all credits were GONE.

Asked about this from the support, they just said policy had changed and when I mentioned and quoted their earlier email about credits not expiring, they simply stopped replying to any emails I sent.

Either they are going under soon or they simply want to scam their users - either way, DO NOT USE them.

EDIT: Now there is reply implying this wouldn't be related to the current owner of the business. Mind you; there has NOT been any kind of communication about the word expiry policy changing at any point. Moreover, after I told them via email (before writing this review) about my words being expired even though I was promised they would not, they stopped replying to any of my messages.

A scam company who robs customers

A scam company who delete customers credits.

Similar to others, I had over 60,000 word credits to use. They made some changes to their business, and previously purchased word credits deleted without any reason or notificaiton.

I messaged them via their ticketing system to restore. Every time I log in, the support tickets are deleted and thus I am effectively being robbed of thousands of dollars.

I've spent over $5000 with Wordagents and had $2500 of unused credits which have been removed.

This company is a complete scam, DO NOT USE THEM as they are thieves and will rob you.

Bad Quality AI generated content

Although they are being reviewed by some SEO experts (like Mark and Gail from Authority Hacker, or Spencer from Nichepursuits) like her high quality writing agency, the reality is that they are heavily using AI content generators, and even all articles are 99% or 100% percents flagged as AI generated by originality ai, they refuse to correct article. So don't use them because you can generate your own AI content for free. Don't be foolish to pay them and wait three weeks to get AI generated content.
