Too bad to be true

What can I say? I got a new Volkswagen Hybrid and I called these guys for a health check to the battery. They wouldn’t pick up the phone.
Next day I called again and was in a queue, so I chose the option of leaving my details and they would contact back . It’s been more than a month, they simply don’t work well and don’t make justice to Volkswagen!
And worse, my problem persists because I am yet to find another Volkswagen near me…

Not even 1 star

Not even 1 star - but there is no option for a negative star! Total con !
MARK OLDFIELD at Slough office - 01753 670261 supposedly a Customer Service Manager - what a joke!
We have been with VW for over 12 years, this is our third car with them and never have I experienced such a RUDE customer service manager, especially when the fault is on his part. Our car was making a noise, so the car was still under warranty - we rang up and had a confirmation over the phone that there would be no charge for anything under warranty so we went ahead and booked it in. We received a quote for over £2000 for repair which a different honest garage quoted a fraction of that price so we decided not to get it repaired from them but then we were told we had to pay £189 - because it was not part of the warranty - when I was at the showroom trying to point out that we were told by the lady on the phone that we don't need to pay it hence the only reason we booked it in, the arrogance of Mark Oldfied told me to lower my voice, maybe he did not like the fact that a woman was telling him he was in the wrong and I was not shouting just trying to get my point across as every time I tried to get my point in he kept speaking over me, that we were told on the phone that the £189 would not apply as the car was still under warranty, he could not accept the fact he did was not making any sense and starting staring at us with total anger, he then said that the person I booked it with worked at a call centre and they are not experienced to discuss the warranty or payment, if that is the case then why did she say it and why are the staff not experienced because that clearly shows who made the error! I told him I was going to take the matter further and ended up paying the £189 - this is how they con people, when we book the car in we are told the car is still in warranty so we do not pay anything but then once we give them the car the narrative changes - from my experience a customer services manager should never speak to clients in the manner he spoke to us, his eyes were showing so much anger towards us because a error made on his side. We never had a problem with VW in the past but this experience has left a bitter taste towards VW because of Mark Oldfield. We have decided to get rid of this car and go towards a different company now, never want to step into that place again in Slough - I would recommend that calls are recorded from now on our part for our protection against being conned! I will continue with this issue to make the point that we have been conned !

I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the service at Windrush. My car (54,885 miles) had a Gearbox Warning Light with Fault Code P27F500.
Instead of fixing the actual issue under warranty, the dealer is trying to charge me for a "Software Update," claiming it’s routine maintenance. However, their own VHC Report (p. 2) explicitly mentions TPi 2073204/7, stating that if the software doesn't work, the "Selector Mechanism" must be replaced.
This is a clear attempt to use software as a temporary fix for a known mechanical failure. A software update to fix a warning light is a REPAIR, not maintenance!
The 2.6 Trustpilot rating clearly reflects their poor technical ethics and customer service. I have already escalated this to the VW UK Executive Office and will be taking my VHC report as evidence to The Motor Ombudsman and BBC Watchdog.
Zero transparency. Do not trust them with your car or your money.

Car franchises like VW Windrush

Car franchises like VW Windrush, Maidenhead largely profit from their service departments. Staff are incentivised to upsell — pushing extra services and products, needed or not, to hit personal and corporate targets. Keep that in mind before you read on.
My Tiguan went in for a routine inspection. I'd already purchased an extra warranty package, so I wasn't expecting any nasty surprises. But before I'd even handed over the keys, the service advisor made a telling comment — she 'hoped' the car would be covered for whatever they found. It caught me off guard. Either she had a sixth sense, or I was about to be on the receiving end of a classic upsell tactic. Sadly, I was proved right.

When I returned to collect the car, I was met with an extensive list of faults — ranging from two apparently serious oil leaks, all the way down to needing new windscreen wipers. Some items were covered under my warranty. Others were not, including one of the oil leaks, with no satisfactory explanation as to why one qualified and the other didn't. When I pressed for clarification, the advisor hesitated before explaining that the person responsible for submitting warranty claims was absent — and that nobody else in the building was able to do it. In a supposedly professional service centre, that is a remarkable admission.

We were then presented with a quote for over £1,000.

For a visit that began as a routine inspection with warranty cover already in place, that figure was staggering — and given everything that had unfolded, it was hard not to feel that the groundwork for it had been laid from the moment we walked through the door.
We refused to accept it. They kept the car overnight and, after further inspection, quietly advised us that the work wasn't actually required. Let that sink in — someone less inquisitive, less willing to push back, could have handed over £1,000+ for repairs that were entirely unnecessary, and driven away none the wiser.

I escalated the matter to the Managing Director of the franchise. What followed was all charm and deflection, zero accountability, and excuses that were frankly embarrassing for someone in his position. He didn't take responsibility for any of it — a deeply disappointing response from the person who sits at the top of the organisation.

The whole experience left such a bitter taste that I sold the car and made a personal vow never to buy a VW again.

If you're considering using VW Windrush in Maidenhead — think very carefully. This is a franchise that, in my experience, cannot be trusted to act with honesty or integrity. Don't let them take advantage of you the way they tried to take advantage of me.

Windrush Walkswagon dealer based in Slough

The company based in slough I paid a deposit to purchase a brand new car paid a deposit of £500 pounds went to finalise the car only told be told that my part exchange price has dropped £1200 just after 10 days to which I refused to buy the car two days later I was told that my part exchange price has gone up a little bit I refused to buy the car they now insist that I buy the car despite the price being lower then the contract I signed no other document were signed by me and now the they are refusing to give my deposit back even though I am keeping my part exchange car. As the car is not purchased they are entitled to keep my deposit in the contract I signed they was no mention of them keeping my deposit if I did not buy the car. I will never go to this garage ever again. If my deposit is returned I may consider purchasing a car but they have refused to give my deposit back it is very sad that a Walkswagon showroom can cheat there customers like that £500 is not a small amount if I had known that they will do that I would have never paid the deposit

Unable to book a test drive

We had a disappointing experience with this dealership in Slough. My husband recently attempted to book a test drive but was told this is only possible if we are seriously wanting to buy the car. A test drive is meant to help customers decide whether a vehicle is right for them, so this approach felt unreasonable and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, this experience has put us off considering this dealer further.

Please don’t buy from this dealership…

Please don’t buy from this dealership do not get scammed as they are selling faulty cars under the name of brand-new cars and spoiling the image of Volkswagen
We have bought a brand-new car from them last year which is faulty and has been sitting at the dealership from two months now nearly and we are paying the finance and apparently they have not been able to fix the car and are coming back with the only answer that still it is not fixed apparently they fix one problem and it gives them Something else to work on
Their general manager, Richard Thom don’t bother replying to the emails or phone calls. The dealership staff knows the cars are faulty but are saying their hands are tied and unfortunately they are trying to save their jobs and cannot do much. Highly recommend people do not get scammed from this fraudulent company as we are taking them to court to recover our losses

Awful service - avoid!!

I purchased a car for my daughter in September 202 from windrush on the Farnham road, I thought it went smoothly however when the car arrived the windscreen had a crack which had not been pointed out to me, they did know about it and so arranged for someone to fix the crack, I’m guessing if I hadn’t noticed it then no one would have pointed it out or repaired it.
I then booked the car in for its first service, I was shocked to find out that the brakes already needed replacing in such a short space of time! I was told by Lawrence that my daughter must be riding the brakes for them to wear in such a short amount of time! I have since discovered that they find it acceptable to sell a car with the brakes at 70% worn without informing you! They are now trying to charge over £500 for the repair which is just daylight robbery.
My whole service experience with this retailer has been awful from start to finish, Lawrence even said that they hadn’t called all day about my daughters car because he’d been having a bad day.
I would suggest avoiding this retailer if you don’t want to be ripped off. JUST AWFUL.

Enquired about a Tiguan. Got email from Carl Bottesi giving me some details. But said that he would seek information from service dpt. on 1 of my queries, but never came back to me. That was the last I heard from him. Doesn't seem interested.

Leroy is your man to get things done!

Excellent service received from Leroy at Windrush Slough. He ensured I was updated throughout the process of a warranty being conducted.

His demeanour was friendly and ensured any technicalities were explained to me as best as possible.

Dave was the gentleman that met me when I arrived at the dealership when dropping my vehicle off. He was very helpful too.

I have no hesitation in returning to this establishment going forward to carry out services or maintenance required on my vehicle. Highly recommended!

I have had problems with the service…

This review is on behalf of my father Trevor Murphy
I have had problems with the service department at Maidenhead. My cabriolet golf had a problem with the hood which they investigated. I was charged £820 and they could not fix it after 3 visits and I was told they didn't have the correct tool for the job. I asked for some sort of repayment but was told company policy would not allow this. They washed their hands of the job and left me out of pocket and a vehicle in the same condition as it went in the workshop. There was no help either to find a garage to finish the repair so through minimal research I found a company called Cayman Motor Services in Redhill who repaired the hood and found the fault was a wire that needing replacing plus a sensor and how I wish i had stumbled across these guys sooner who were total professionals and more competitively priced than Windrush. They are completely inept at Windrush and totally clueless when it comes to customer service and satisfaction.
Their sorry not our problem attitude was appalling and most disappointing they received the full backing of VW head office when I raised the complaint?
Moral of the story if Windrush Maidenhead are your local VW garage and you need a repair then avoid at all costs do some research and find an independent company that can actually carry out the fix and who will respect you as a customer and appreciate the business !!!
If I could have left no stars I would off !

Thieves

Never visiting a VW Service Center in my life.
I have a DSG transmission which suddenly lost the reverse gear. Brought the car here, they held the car for 1.5 weeks, charged me £850 without fixing or telling me where the problem is. Then suggested to change a part that costs £2,400 without the guarantee that it will actually fix the problem. Took the car to another garage, enough time and money wasted. Thieves operating here, you have been warned.

My father bought a brand new Polo from…

My father bought a brand new Polo from Windrush Maidenhead in 2019, its been a troublesome car since day 1 , culminating recently in the cambelt mysteriously coming off . The car has less than 12000 miles on the clock, full VW service history.
Windrush charged my 92 year old father £990 to refit the cambelt as they said they could not see why it had come off, they got the car running but said there was a fault, possibly with a bent valve. After complaining to VW customer services VW UK eventually agreed to pay 30% of the bill to fix the cylinder head, my fathers contribution was to be £2000 plus the £990 already paid. Windrush told us that they could not guarantee the head repair would fix the problem and potentially the car could need a new engine at many thousands of pounds plus the high main dealer labour cost to carry out the work. We decided to take the car away and have had to sell it to a salvage company at a great loss. My father has now bought a Kia.
We feel that Windrush could have done a lot more more to help as could VW UK , WE WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER VW AND WILL TELL EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO LISTEN, OUR STORY.

Avoid using at all costs

Avoid using at all costs. Booked in a repair for my car where they had to order some parts. It broke down, had to bring it in earlier. First - they lied about booking in a tow truck. When I finally got the car there, they said it was going to be £1600 for repairs. I said to go ahead and fix it ASAP because I have a disabled son. No response or updates for 3 weeks. Refused to give me a rental, so I had to pay a grand on top of it on rent. The car is STILL with them with no updates on when it will be repaired. These people are awful.
