First Class Hi Fi Servicing

In this throw-away world, finding a company that can actually repair Toshiba Hi Fi equipment, is a god-send.

The amp of my stack system was failing and at same time, the deck was dead... but Websters said to bring them over.

They charged £30 to disassemble and inspect each item, but that was deducted from the final cost for repairing both units, which I think is a reasonable approach.

A week later, they contacted me to say both items had been repaired and could be collected. They work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 0930 to 1630 which was no problem for me.

When I collected the units, Websters had individually wrapped each item in clingwrap to protect them from damage, which was much appreciated. Once home, it did not take long to reassemble the stack and both units work as good as when new, despite being over 40 years old and the sound is great.

I can definitely recommend Websters and will use them again if the need arises.

Many thanks. Pitters.

Webster's Tech Discriminate against people.

I have used this service previously to get a 5 CD changer Hi-Fi system repaired.

On around Thursday, May 20th 2021, I contacted Webster's to enquire about a portable MiniDisc recorder that was not able to read discs that I have all but one, and even that was intermittent at best. I left that call explaining that I was going to see about finances.

I called again today (Tuesday 25th May 2021 at around 14:10) to enquire about the service they were providing. We discussed the potential steps needed and I agreed to go ahead and book it in. As I was saying "let me know when you are ready to take my payment info", the call was cut off. I thought to myself, what is going on. I emailed them saying that I was not happy and that I thought they hung up on me and saying I would find another repair service. I rang around, and found a few, but none dealt with the MD recorder I have as it is more than 10 years old.

I contacted my provider and discovered that they were having network issues at the time.

I contacted Webster's again to offer up an apology for a misunderstanding and at that point, the chap on the other end went in to a full blown attack on me saying that they would not be taking on my repair because of how (unintentionally) "rude and "abrasive" I was. I explained that it was how I normally am, and is not intentional. He was not interested in my explanation or my apology.

I am of the view that I am being discriminated against contrary to Equality Act 2010. I don't know why so many people treat me this way and can only assume it is because of ignorance.

I have emailed Webster's and advised them I would be leaving this review, and gave them to the end of the day to respond. As they have not responded, I am leaving this review.
