I enjoyed working with children and making a difference in their lives even if it was small and simple. I believe it goes along way and with the help of future volunteers to continue helping the children in small ways, will eventually make a huge difference.

This experience was very rewarding in many different aspects. When I signed up I was nervous because I speak very poor Spanish. This barrier did not stop me from making an impact on several different lives every day I volunteered. Google translate is a blessing. I got to help people from ages 8months to 95years old. I never would have imagined how people of Costa Rica would impact me as well.

I volunteered teaching English in Costa Rica and absolutely loved the program! The school placement has incredible children who I will remember forever. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to know students in Costa Rica and work on teaching ESL. Maximo Nivel is wonderful and I hope to complete another program soon. I felt supported from start to finish. The staff were caring, kind and attentive to whatever I needed!

The team at VW were exceptionally helpful. They answered my questions straight away and made the whole application experience easy.

The platform is good to get an overview but I would no trust the offers. Most, if not all, offers are from agencies which are between you and the program.

Most of the time the name and address is not correct and the actual website of the program (if they have any) is hard to find. If you ask the agencies if the website you found is the correct one, they refuse to answer. they do everything to avoid that you get in touch with the program because you could bypass them. If you would contact the program directly it would be much cheaper. I was volunteering and experienced that I would only pay 50% of the amount to the program. So 50% goes to the agency, which provides very little service for that and does not go to the program. There is very little transparency about that and about the costs. Some programs are more expensive than a all-inclusive 4 Star hotel, but you only get hostel-feeling.

Use the platform to find the website of the programs you are interested in an apply directly and save thousand of dollars.

I'm glad a thought about volunteering crossed my mind when planning my holidays from work. I've reviewed a couple of websites and this one stood out as the most comprehensive and easy to use. I've booked my trip a week before my flight and it all went through smoothly. It was my first volunteering experience and the best decision by far! The booking process, follow up and all the info was straight forward and easy. I would recommend it to everyone

It is already the second time that I use Volunteerworld and soon it will be the third. The site is well done and the operators always respond. This website has given me the opportunity to meet wonderful people around the world and to give significant meaning to the our holidays. The only thing I would improve is the communication with the projects, as, when they are full, they tend not to respond. For the rest, I am convinced that I will use it again

Amazing & quick service

Volunteer World staff was so helpful from the pre-departure to the arrival. Really a beyond the expected experience. I will definitely do a volunteer travel each year. I volunteered in Zimbabwe at Imire Rhino & Wildlife conservation and it was a trip of the lifetime. I really connected with the wildlife, i horse back rided every day for several hours which allowed me to get really close to the animals, i helped the surrounding community (school, building roads, etc). I definitely recommend this kind of experience to anyone curious and who is seeking for meaningful "holidays" :)

I booked with Volunteer World for a project in an Animal Rescue Center in Costa Rica for 2 weeks.
Everything was OK, my booking, the experience at the project and the place where I stayed (Jenny's home).

Very informative webpage that is easy to navigate. All prices ended up being the same as the webpage displayed. Easy to get in touch with project, booking is smooth with good follow-up. Would use again.

Hi,
I applied to a programme in Scotland on the site in mid-November last year. A week later they said I needed to fill something out. As I wasn't told what, I asked again a week later as I didn't get an answer. Then I was told it was all complete and I would be told if I was accepted. 3 weeks later I asked again how long it would take. I was then told that something was still missing and that I should please upload it. So I filled it out and uploaded the document. A month later (!!!) I still hadn't received anything and I asked when the time would be. They said they would let me know by the end of January at the latest. Of course, that wasn't the case, so I wrote again the day before yesterday. Suddenly I was told that there were only places available elsewhere. I then cancelled everything and sent them a complaint email. It's totally unserious that I have to chase the whole thing, that I'm not told about it myself and that they don't respond to my complaints. I am very disappointed and cannot recommend this site.
Don't get scammed by them!

So far the customer service was instantaneous and reassuring! Very excited for my trip to Costa Rica with Tortugas de Pacuare in August! Definitely going to be using this site often in the future!

Very good website to find volunteer projects all over the world. Kind and competent employees also helped me a lot.

They answered all my questions in detail beforehand, so I had a safe feeling before starting the volunteering in Ecuador.

The platform itself is great, like "booking.com" for volunteers. Would probably never have found this great project among the multitude of organizations without Volunteer World. 5 stars. Absolutely deserved.

The project itself was super organized and also accommodation and food really really good. A great experience.
