I cannot recommend Dr Chawla Highly enough

I cannot recommend Dr. Shelly Chawla highly enough. She quite literally saved my life, and I will forever be grateful for her expertise, compassion, and extraordinary level of care.

I woke up one morning with intense chest pressure and pain. Because I’ve always lived a very healthy lifestyle — never smoked, never drank alcohol, exercised regularly, maintained a healthy weight, and ate extremely well — I honestly never imagined I could be having a heart attack. When I contacted Dr. Chawla, she remained incredibly calm, reassuring, and highly professional. She did not want me to panic, but she immediately recognized the seriousness of my symptoms. She instructed me to go to urgent care right away and even provided a list of tests they needed to perform immediately, knowing emergency rooms can sometimes have long wait times.

The moment I walked into urgent care, they took one look at me, rushed me into an exam room, hooked me up to an EKG, and called an ambulance. I was transported to Cedars-Sinai for emergency cardiac surgery.

Dr. Chawla is on staff at Cedars-Sinai, and she immediately coordinated my care. She sent Dr. Johnpaul Sing to check on me at the hospital. Dr. Sing was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and reassuring during one of the most frightening moments of my life. He carefully reviewed everything the surgeons had done, explained my condition thoroughly, updated Dr. Chawla, and assured me she would personally come see me later that day.

True to her word, Dr. Chawla came to the Cardiac ICU to check on me herself. Her knowledge is unmatched by any physician I have ever encountered. Beyond her expertise, what truly sets her apart is her compassion, kindness, and calming presence. She makes you feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for during the most difficult moments imaginable. She is truly one of a kind.

After everything she did for me, I immediately requested that she become my primary care physician, and she warmly welcomed me into her clinic. She also referred me to an outstanding cardiologist for my ongoing cardiac care — someone she works closely with and trusts completely. It became very clear to me throughout my hospital stay just how respected Dr. Chawla is within the medical community. Every nurse, technician, and hospital staff member I spoke with had glowing things to say about her professionalism, intelligence, and compassion.

I recently had my first follow-up appointment at her office, and the experience only reinforced my gratitude. The office was clean, peaceful, and efficiently run, and every staff member was kind and welcoming despite having many patients to care for. Dr. Chawla had already reviewed all of my hospital records before my appointment and had proactively arranged for an echocardiogram as part of my follow-up care.

If you are searching for a physician with exceptional expertise, outstanding professionalism, genuine compassion, and a true dedication to her patients, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chawla, Dr. Sing, and Dr. Prasad.

Thank you, Dr. Chawla, for saving my life. I will never forget everything you have done for me and my family.
