Did not have enough time at Niagara…
Did not have enough time at Niagara Falls!!! Too many excursions were long bus rides without enough time at site locations. The staff at The Grill was excellent. Took too long in dining room. Needed some variety in entertainment. Need better communications. We had purchased a one bed in room & when we arrived we had 2 separate beds. Room was too small. We had a nice trip but very disappointed in Niagara Falls excursion & that was main reason for going. Also, you don’t actually have an app and internet would quit at times.
…Would definitely not recommend
This was the smallest stateroom we have ever experienced in more than a dozen cruises. The shower was exactly 28 inches in diameter and there wasn't 12 inches between the bulkhead and the bed. We did not have a refrigerator or coffeepot in our room, making it necessary to coordinate with the medical office to store my medication (and she was rarely in her office). I was extremely glad that we did not pay extra for a balcony stateroom - the only access was from outside and there was no cover, so if it was raining, you got wet. The "balcony" was 2 lawn chairs and a small table placed outside the door on the deck where everybody walked by to get to the grill. A couple of the ports were a total waste of time - Escanaba was extremely proud of all of the town members who had ever served in the military going back to the Civil War, but the museum they had put together was tiny and definitely not first rate. Just about everything in Sault Ste Marie was closed on Sunday and very little was within comfortable walking distance, The food was good, but I never saw much evidence of locally themed cuisine. For the most part, the crew was great, but the only activity planned on the at-sea day was bingo. The Cruise Director could spend more time planning guest activities and less time playing with the house band. We previously cruised on American Queen and loved it, so to say this disappointed would be an understatement, Will never cruise with Victory again.
Love the food
Love the food, glad there wasn’t a formal day. Enjoyed the excursions, although some instructions were un clear.
Weather was great.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Access for a person with multiple disabilities
We were very happy with our disabled room. It was fully accessible for my mother with her walker. We purchased and brought an oxygen concentrator and received distilled water for CPAP machines. All of the staff went out of their way to ensure my mother was able to participate fully (for which I am very grateful). Included excursions for the Great Lakes destinations were flexible (for example, allowing me to walk back) and enjoyable.
Message therapist Amrita
Message therapist Amrita. The best. Suchin in the bar so personal and smart.
Delightful small ship cruising
Small ship cruising provides many benefits. No wait for restaurant seating. Plenty of seating at lounges & bars. Strangers become friends quickly. The crew is extraordinarily attentive & helpful. Our Great Lakes Cruise was delightful. Cabins are small but we spent our time around the ship so it wasn't too inconvenient. Showers are another matter. Not sure how it can be addressed but they are tiny! When vacationing, things will never be as convenient as home, but we make the best of all situations in order to enjoy our adventure. Would go again for sure!!
22 Member Family Reunion
We took 22 members of our family on the Great Lakes trip with Victory. The destinations were all the places we wanted to go and were very well surprised by the nuisances the cities had we didn't even expect which were great. We did an excursion at every port and felt if we tried to do two, it would be one to many. (Stick with one and decide if you're feeling up to it to explore on your own which many guests did.)
Some were concerned about the motion of the boat under way and there were no issues. There was one night the wind kicked up but the boat handled everything exceptionally well and only minimally felt the waves. NOTHING to get you motion sick which was the concern of several members of our family. These are not oceans, just big lakes. The waves can get in the 3'-5' range but I imagine if they were any bigger than that, the crew would stay an extra night at the port. No one wants a bad experience including the crew.
What a great experience this trip was. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking to explore the great lakes.

The whole staff was personable
The whole staff was personable. We felt like our dining room waiter, Alden, adopted us. He knew our preferences and prepared the table for us.
I left things in the vault. The staff tracked us to our final tour to deliver the items to us. Amazing!
All the included tours were informative, well-organized, and just right for us seniors.
Need more time at the Niagara Falls
One of the biggest events of the trip was Niagara Falls and it was rush on the bus, get off the bus, rush off the falls tour and get back on the bus. No time to look around and enjoy the Falls. Food was amazing and staff was good.
Great crew
Great crew. Great ship. Fantastic band on Victory 1. Great food. Great pre-cruise stay.
Bad - Some excursions did not allow enough time. TOO MANY reserved seats in dining room. Suppose to be open seating. Not far!!!
Service was great all around
Service was great all around. Food was excellent. Excursions were overall pretty good. Enjoyed the Lakelorian and nightly entertainment. Ports and stops - overall itinerary - was great. Super interesting learning about the Great Lakes.

The staff was wonderful !
The staff was wonderful -- professional, friendly, always helpful. They deserve an A+! Special kudos to Uno in the Grill! And being on a ship with just 180 passengers was such a welcome change from the large Caribbean ships. Meals were excellent with a sufficient number of choices, and I especially liked having the Grill available for breakfast and lunch. The rooms were a bit tight; an improvement would be to take out the second, smaller desk and replace it with a comfortable chair. Mickey did an excellent job as lakealorian; a nice addition would be to have local historians come aboard to talk about the area we would be seeing the next day the way Road Scholar does. All in all, it was a great trip and I hope to travel again on Victory!
