About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I wouldn’t recommend using Vets now

I wouldn’t recommend using Vets now. You cannot even get hold of them to pay the bill, they don’t answer the phones I tried for weeks, then gave up. I have now received a debt recovery with an add-on £50 late payment charge absolute disgrace. I eventually got hold of somebody today, I explained my frustration theytold me we are so sorry there’s nothing we can do. We are so busy, absolute joke. Don’t waste your time or money. Use a different Out Of Hrs if a tall possible.

Looking after to my dog is the most important thing, he can get a little scared when I'm not around but when I collected him he was happy so I could tell he had been looked after, the reception staff were fabulous and friendly so we got everything done and our vet ollie made sure everything was explained to put my mind at rest

Great emergency care

We received really responsive attention following a distressing outcome of an xray of our dog. The speedy tests will help inform next steps in her treatment. Very grateful for the skill and kindness shown in her care.

Seriously? Half a grand for nothing?

Seriously? 4 hours? My poor kid was better by himself by the time he was seen- n for that 5 mins it was £450 ??? Abysmal abuse of people who love animals. Heard since that the rota’d vet gets no extra. It’s on their work rota. Absolutely disgusting. Half a grand to shut my fur baby in a room for the afternoon n check he was alive 4 hours later. VILE.

Withholding refund owed

Local veterinary team during initial admittance were fantastic thorough and kept me up to date - very sensitively discussed and explained up front payment amounts (deposit before submitting claim)
Discharge was horrendous - before I could collect my pet (serious surgery) I was told in front of everyone on reception I hadn’t paid enough deposit - I had to stand there and do the calculation for them to prove I had

The discharge veterinary nurse was horrendous - 30 mins late then frustrated as we were clarifying meds but unable to explain what the medication was, incredibly patronising and disrespectful - I did request to see the vet who came out and was lovely even asking in shock where my pet was and why he hadn’t been brought out
Following this the ironic thing is Vetsnow now owe me over £500 they were paid on the 9th July by BACS by insurers I have the evidence

Vets now said I have to wait 10 days as not paid despite the evidence - ironic as the hell they put me through making sure they were paid and messaging every day for the balance when it was with insurers and on day 2 of the 60 day limit to pay
Yet I can’t get the money they owe me !!!

Hi Steven, we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry the wait added to your worry. Busy periods can lead to delays while urgent procedures are carried out, but your feedback helps us see where we need to improve - thank you.
